CATCO Theatre Board and am now serving on the Hilltop Preschool Board. Both groups work with the arts and education, both of which are my passions. I recently joined the Women’s Board for the Franklin Park Conservatory and the Columbus Women’s Chorus. I really haven’t sung much since college, but I have really enjoyed getting back into it. I don’t have the high notes like I used to have or the breath control, but I still have that joy of music! As many of you see on Facebook, I have my beautiful grandson Emmett who turned one in April. What a joy it is to see his smile when we FaceTime. My heart just melts. My friends told me that you get a little stupid with your grandchildren and I am following that path! I am trying very hard to honor their request not to put the names of their children on the web, so all my grandchildren on Facebook will just be LouLou’s Little Loves! I hope you have a wonderful summer! Enjoy our big year!
Class of 1978 Lisa Aronson Altman P11, 16 laltmn@comcast.net Dana Peters Frizell and Julia (Jewels) Blagden
Dana Peters Frizzell reports that 2018-19 has been full of more exciting travels! In September, she did a fabulous river boat cruise down the Rhine, starting in Amsterdam and ending in Basil, Switzerland. She writes, “This was definitely one of my all-time favorite trips!” In March, she hit Las Vegas for a week. April had her in Barbados for her nephew’s wedding. Her first destination wedding and thanks to Jewels, she knew how to dress for the weather! In October, she’s headed to Scotland with the same group she did the Rhine trip with spending a few days in London. Scotland and London are actually the last two destinations on her bucket list, so in 2020 she’s going to start re-visiting some of her favorites and already has a cruise to Alaska (again with the same group) booked. Every trip she takes, she comes home with an idea for another book. She’s still working on her third book now, with a fourth, fifth and sixth in the works. She writes, “When I’m not traveling, you
can find me in my writing room!” This past week she spent a great afternoon with Julia (Jewels) Blagden! She was up visiting family and came over this way with her niece and nephew. Dana writes, “It was awesome having a couple of hours to catch up! And, of course, we had to reminisce about the Blizzard of ’78! It was so great to see her!” Jennifer Adams Knebel has wonderful news to share. She writes, “Emily Knebel ’11 graduated from U Penn’s veterinary school in May, moving shortly thereafter to begin her residency and a Ph.D. program at the University of Missouri and, somewhere in between, getting married in Jackson Hole to her college sweetheart. Sister Laura Knebel ’13 (who is working at Gartner in Washington, D.C.) and classmate Miriam Stulin ’11 are bridesmaids. Excited to get to watch all the fun!” Daphne Pinkerson has a documentary film, One Nation Under Stress, that recently premiered on HBO. She has been producing and/or directing documentary films for the past 30 years. This film is the latest in a series of films for HBO about the effects of the economy on working people. One Nation Under Stress is currently playing on HBO, HBO On Demand, HBO Go and HBO Now. On Saturday, April 27, Dana had its bi-annual event, She Sails. It was a day of wonderful panels (many hosted by alumnae) and gathering together as a wonderful community. Class of ’78 was well represented! Julia Blagden, Lisa Chamberlain Schimmel, Peggy Smith Liversidge and I (Lisa) attended. It was so great to see everyone. This year’s Reunion was also held during this weekend and Peggy’s company, Kitchen Chicks Catering, provided the delicious food. I was there, and the food and presentation was amazing! As for me, Lisa Aronson Altman, I just can’t seem to stay away from Dana volunteering whenever asked. My daughter Alexis Altman ’11 is a licensed certified social worker and working at a residential school for at risk youth. She was a panelist at She Sails (very proud mommy moment). Madison Altman ’16 is a junior at Union College and is studying abroad this term in London.

Lynn Phillips Hernandez writes, “I attended our 40th Reunion in April along with 22 other classmates. Two of those classmates came from abroad to join in the festivities. It was fun to reconnect with them as well as Debbie Albert, Cindy Cross, Elizabeth (Zebby) Whiting Dube, Sarah Gurley-Green, Susan Tyler Monahan, Jennifer Helliwell Stoner, Alison (Bonnie) Farlow MacKinnon, Jean Haffenreffer Resetarits, Sally Baker, Kate Hewlett, Victoria Tomkins Heydari, Debbie Black, Tamara Lingos, Kathy Davidson Lobo, Diane Sabatini, Rachael Silin Perkins, Barrie Fee Sanders, Lauren Kelly Smith, Cindy Nager Goodwin and Trish Garland. Our class was well represented in the Alumnae Art Show as Beth McCabe, Alison Farlow MacKinnon and Kathy Davidson Lobo each had beautiful works displayed. The class of ’79 was also represented at She Sails by Diane Sabatini and Alison Farlow MacKinnon who joined other alumnae panelists to share the experiences they’ve had in their careers as an executive movie producer and mental health counselor, respectively. It was a wonderful weekend reminiscing as well as learning about what everyone is doing now. Lastly, a very big thank you to all of you who gave a gift to the Dana Fund.” Rachael Silin Perkins, Tina Lynch Fiertz, Diane Sabatini and Susan Tyler Monahan
Karen Shapiro writes, “We had a fairly easy winter. I was able to spend time with my family in Arizona for 10 days. Fortunately, we missed two very big snowstorms here. Perfect timing! I was recently honored for my work serving the elderly. I have now been a certified elderly health care advocate for 15 years. I continue
