Unlike Laura, music has always played a huge part in my day-to-day life. The beat of the drums or the acoustic of the strings always captivate me and take me to my own world. Music allows me to be relaxed yet release strong emotions; it allows me to feel like I have something to relate to. Of course this does not mean the music I used to listen to as a kid like the Barney soundtrack, but from when my brother introduced me to punk/rock and when my parents introduced me to Queen and Meat Loaf I began to see and feel something more than just sounds; I understood the music, the lyrics and the artist and even more recent, music has allowed me to deal with personal problems that no person has been able to do. It has allowed me to get rid of anger, to deal with mourning and to ultimately make me happier. It's rather strange how music has this affect on people, but the power of some sounds and some words have changed people's lives around the world - including mine. And in relation to music & fashion, there has always been a huge relationship between both. Music inspires designers, musicians are inspired by fashion; music and fashion are two different worlds yet they manage to combine, make history together and to inspire the world, which is why fashion is also a strange thing to go through as somehow it has this massive effect on people and their emotions through expressionism. I hope you enjoy our fourth issue and we would like to thank Australian brand, Ellington for taking over our editorials this issue! Love Jasmine I have never really been a big music person until this year. I had never owned an iPod or felt some kind of deep connection with music. I've heard countless stories about people who have been through some kind of tragedy and felt that music 'really lifted' them from that dark time. That was never me. It wasn't until my dad introduced me to a few of his favourite songs that I started to become so much more interested in discovering new songs, artists and bands. My favourite musicians range from Queen, Rolling Stones, Led Zepplin, Azealia Banks, Augie March, Jane Birkin, Serge Gainsbourg, Robbie Williams, The Zombies, The Killers, The Beatles, David Bowie, Eminem, Tupac, Notorious BIG and Lana Del Ray. So quite a mix of genre's in there. There is no doubt about it; music has a huge influence in today's culture, which is why it is our theme for the fourth issue of DALLIANCE. It plays a huge part in everything from movies, to defining a specific culture to of course fashion. Endless collaborations with models in music videos, musicians turning to fashion designers ... the list of moments where music and fashion is intertwined is endless. And with that, I hope you enjoy this issue! Who are your favourite musicians? Let us know by sending us a message via Facebook, Twitter or Instagram! Love Laura xx
