President’s Letter
A Letter from the President Warren Sibley
No one will ever forget the summer of 2020. We are all making wholesale changes to the way we live, work, vacation, and spend our leisure time. When the Board was setting the Club’s budget last summer, who could have imagined this year would unfold as it has. During half of March, and most of April and May, the Club was closed to outsiders; meaning, no new members, no Monday Tournaments, and no outside events and banquets. Yet, as we begin to plan and budget for 2021, we are very strong financially and we are slightly ahead of plan on initiation fees.
This pandemic could have affected the Club in a variety of ways. We couldn’t have guessed that usage would be up in all areas. For many during this time, DAC is the only family outlet. The Board continues to be encouraged by the continued success and we are busy planning for our future. I’ve mentioned the capital improvements we are planning. We have engaged an architecture firm and hope to have plans and budgets ready by the first quarter of 2021. A family dining room can’t come soon enough.
There are so many distractions in our lives, I want to highlight a few items so you don’t miss them. First, Phil Callahan and his team are hard at work on a new seasonal menu. Some of us have had a chance to sample a few of the new menu items and I know you will love what is coming. The entire kitchen has done a tremendous job working with a limited menu and doing their best to deliver quality food. There has been disruption in the food delivery/supply network. Our kitchen staff has excelled at providing what they could give the somewhat limited availability of items. Second, the pool remains open. It’s great to see the extent to which the pool continues to be utilized so late into the summer. As long as the weather is warm enough and demand continues, we are glad our members can utilize the pool and its outdoor dining and bar space. Lastly, I would be remiss if I forgot to thank Larry Muskopf for his 23 years of service at DAC. I couldn’t be happier for Larry and his family as he advances his career.
Thank you for your continued support of DAC. I hope to see you out enjoying the Club very soon.
