Sexual Misconduct support systems and organizations available

The University of Iowa offers multiple support systems for students seeking sexual misconduct resources.

The University of Iowa provides many sexual misconduct resources for those seeking advising or support, both confidential and non-confidential. Sexual misconduct can include, but is not limited to, sexual assault, sexual harassment, and domestic violence.

As alternatives to calling the UI Police Department, students can seek resources both on campus and within the Iowa City area and Johnson County as a whole.

Women’s Resource and Action Center

The Women’s Resource and Action Center, located at Bowman House, 230 N. Clinton St., focuses on activism, social justice initiatives, leadership training, advocacy, service, and personal and professional development. The WRAC offers individual, confidential counseling services at no cost for students and employees, as well as the general public.

Rape Victim Advocacy Program

Located within the Division of Student Life, the Rape Victim Advocacy Program offers confidential, free, and trauma-informed services to members of the UI community. Among its various resources, the RVAP has a 24-hour crisis hotline, counseling, therapy, support grou andps, advocacy for survivors engaging in medical, legal, and academic responses to violence and reporting assault.

Domestic Violence Intervention Program

The Domestic Violence Intervention Program is a Johnson

County organization that offers a 24-hour crisis hotline as well.

All services are free and confidential, and the hotline can be used to report personal situations or on behalf of a friend.
