Mt. Pleasant Senior Wins Honors to Reign As Queen of Sanpete County Fair
Aug. 29, 1952 — Miss Loretta Bohne, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray K. Bohne of Mt. Pleasant, was selected queen of Sanpete County by decision of the judges at the Sanpete County Queen contest held at the Court House in Manti on August 22.

The six contestants were judged on poise, beauty, talent and voice. Each girl appeared before the judges in a formal, a bathing suit and an afternoon dress.
The girls were interviewed by the judges and were given an opportunity to display their talent. Miss Bohne played a piano solo, “Impromptu” by McDowell as her offering in the talent division.
Loretta, a senior at North Sanpete high school, will reign over the Sanpete County Fair Sept. 4, 5 and 6 and will ride on the Sanpete County Queen float in the parade on September 4.
Miss Bohne, active in music and dramatic circles, will represent Sanpete County at the Utah State Fair and will compete for the title of Miss Utah.
Miss Katherine Armstrong of Ephraim was named first alternate at the contest. She sang a solo. Miss Donna Bunnell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Morris Bunnell of Spring City, was named second alternate. She played a piano solo.
Sanpete County Fair Wheels Set in Motion for Sept. 1-3
Aug. 14, 1953 — The Sanpete County Fair for 1953 will be held as a mid-week event this year, holding forth on September 1, 2 and 3. The fair planning is under the chairmanship of Kenneth Keller, Manti, and complete departmental assignments have been made by him.
The program of entertainment for the Fair has been outlined as follows:

SEPTEMBER 1
8:00 a.m.—Exhibition building open to the public. 10:00 a.m.—Judging of all exhibits in Exhibition building. 10 a.m.—Judging of livestock in stock barns. 2:30 p.m.—Baseball game at the Legion park, featuring
Sanpete all-stars with teams sharing the receipts. 5:00 p.m.—Mammoth Parade. 8:30 p.m.— Street Square dance jamboree next to fair grounds. A charge will be made only for dancing couples.
SEPTEMBER 2
2:00 p.m.—Horse show and races with demonstrations of horsemanship, contests, etc. 8:15 p.m.—Professional Vaudeville acts. 10:15 p.m.—Mammoth fireworks display at fair grounds.
Admission for both the vaudeville and fireworks.
SEPTEMBER 3
2:00 p.m.—4-H Dress rehearsal, with specialty acts. 6:00 p.m.—Parade by riding clubs and stock. 8:15 p.m.—Rodeo, sponsored by Manti riding club.

Sanpete County Fair Attracts Large Crowds; To Continue 2 More Days
Sept. 5, 1952 — One day gone and two to go is the score of the 1952 Sanpete County Fair in Manti.
Hundreds of people lined the streets to 5th South on Main in Manti Thursday afternoon where the mammoth parade formed and proceeded north to the fair grounds, according to Ray K. Bohne, parade chairman.
Thursday’s parade had 46 entrants and was led by J. Leo Seely of Mt. Pleasant, John Baxter of Gunnison, and little Johnnie Ross Seely of this city.
The lineup was as follows: Color Guard; County Queen float, made by Manti Literary club; county commissioners; Fairview Queen float; Mayfield Queen float; Hamilton School Band; Mt. Pleasant Queen float; Manti City Queen float; Gunnison Band; Fountain Green Queen float; Ephraim Queen float; Ephraim Elementary School Band; Ute Stampede float; Thermoid float; Mt; Pleasant Jaycees; Bradleys, Manti; Jensens, Manti; Lasson and Norman, Mt. Pleasant; Jacobs Mortuary, Mt. Pleasant; Manti Bank; Manti high school band; Moroni Feed Co.; Ephraim Lions Club; Gunnison Sugar Co.; Ephraim Jr. high band; Price’s Market; Sugar Valley Sales, Gunnison; Manti Lions Club; Telluride Power Co.; North Sanpete high school band; Gunnison Lions club; Bailey-McCune, Manti; Olsen’s Sinclair Service, Ephraim; Sorensen’s Ford-Mercury, Gunnison; Chief Pontiac, Manti; Manti Junior band; Utah Poultry, Draper; W.E. Madsen and Sons, Mt. Pleasant; Gunnison Riding club; Manti Riding club; Spring City Riding club; donkey float from Mt. Pleasant; FFA Sanpete county chapter float.
Big feature of Saturday’s parade will be the appearance of Governor J. Bracken Lee. Sorensen’s Ford-Mercury of Gunnison have volunteered a new convertible for the use of the Governor in the parade.
The Clarence Smith Professional Vaudeville Acts will be presented Friday and Saturday evenings at 8 at the Fair Grounds.
Don Cambell is the master of ceremonies and the following will be featured: Tyler and St. Clair, musical act with dancing doll; The Dean Boys, teeter-board act; Don and Steve, unicycle act and juggling; John Rock and company, the great escape act; The Blue Streak, roller skating act; Francis Dainty and Company, bicycle act; The Asia Boys, hand-balancing.
