Our Team

Our goal with every project is to support the advancement of the most sophisticated healthcare practices while providing an inspiring setting that sustains the healing process. Our experience and insight helps to position our clients uniquely to balance the elements of art and science: efficiency with synergy, comfort with technology, and function with design. As the healthcare industry continues to transform at an accelerated pace, DAG provides an agile partner to help stay abreast of state-of-the-art architectural trends such as incorporating hospitalitylike design elements and helps to find opportunities to increase market share by integrating new services and specialties for evolving patients’ needs. With increased competitive factors, rising operating costs, shrinking reimbursements, and rapid advancements in technology, it is now more important than ever to provide empowering spaces that enrich people’s experiences while enhancing bottom-line costs.

HLGstudio was formed in 2005 on a simple premise – to communicate great ideas through powerful design. Design influences everything we do – it is our foundation and guiding force. Interior Design Partner

Northside Hospital | Midtown Cancer Institute Atlanta, GA

Unique. Smart. Welcoming.

Northside Hospital

The design concept for the Northside Hospital Midtown Cancer Institute was developed early in the process by embracing the trendy neo-urban Midtown environment in which the new facility is located. These contemporary design elements provided the right balance to ensure they worked within the context of de-stressing the end-users.

Northside Hospital | Midtown Imaging Center Atlanta, GA

TRANSITIONAL. NEUTRAL. WARM.

Northside Hospital

Northside Hospital’s Midtown Imaging Center delivers acrossthe-board on every client requirement: a young, contemporary, industrial look, warmed by a wood feature wall and bold fabric selections to make it more appealing and inviting. With a bevy of smart and playful elements designed to appeal to millennials, the space incorporates an innovative selection of materials and textures to create a contemporary, professional, upscale feel.

TAGLINE WORDS GO HERE.

The atrium has been redesigned with biomimicry concepts and nature-inspired solutions to create a space of healing, comfort and refuge.

Emory / St. Joesph’s Doctors Building

This renovation’s mission was to visually enhance and to activate this medical office environment, as well as provide forward-thinking solutions to create spaces which promote well-being and comfort for patients, their families and staff.

Northside Hospital | Forsyth Women’s Center Cumming, GA

WELCOMING. CALM. UPLIFTING.

Northside Hospital

Constructed with a tight budget and an accelerated grand opening date, the project team worked together, stood behind proprietary material specifications and delivered the design aesthetic. From the oval entrance and throughout the space, design elements strike a desired design aesthetic and contemporary tone. The main design objective was to create a spa-like environment to evoke a comfortable and calming atmosphere for patients and families.

Northside | Cherokee Replacement Hospital Cumming, GA

COMMUNITY. NATURAL. RELEVANT.

Northside Hospital

North Georgia’s remarkable economic growth and the natural vistas of the North Georgia Mountains became the foundation for the design solution for the Replacement Hospital. The team adopted the theme “Where Metro Meets the Mountains” while developing the interiors for the new hospital. The outcome embodies the convergence of a growing demand for cutting edge health care services and technology while rooting itself in familiar natural materials, colors and design elements that pay special homage to the county’s unique landscape, heritage and community.

Pediatric Center at Northside Alpharetta Alpharetta, GA

Pediatric Center at Northside Alpharetta

COMFORTING. PLAYFUL. PRISTINE.

Northside Hospital | Atlanta Patient Tower Cumming, GA

CONTEMPORARY. FRESH. APPROACHABLE.

Northside Hospital

The design team was challenged to create a bold and welcoming “Front Door”, connecting a new 8-story medical patient tower with an existing cancer institute and hospital entry portal. We turned a perceived negative, the massive concrete support column, into a positive by converting the column into a statement piece - a colorful, inspiring mural -- and making it the heart and soul of the motor lobby. The mural was inspired by a previous patient’s endearing nature, hopeful heart and uplifting attitude. Elements of her favorite activities are interwoven throughout the design.

Tanner Health System | East Alabama Hospital Wedowee, AL

FAMILIAR. SERENE. PLEASANT.

Tanner Health

Light wood tones and stacked stone elements accentuate Tanner Health System’s public persona of superior service and attention to the patient and visitor alike. Taking a que from the exterior design of the hospital, the design team brought the stacked stone inside the two-story atrium. Guests are greeted with a warm interior space with earth tones which are intended to provide a sense of calm.

Sacred Heart Medical Office Building Port St. Joe, FL

TECHNOLOGICAL. COMMUNITY FOCUSED.

Sacred Heart MOB

Part of the new Sacred Heart medical complex in Port St. Joe, this medical office building is the first of two more planned buildings. This building houses related services for the hospital and provides office space for doctors and other medical specialists. It is sited to correspond to the hospital entry and a bridgeway that connects the two buildings. The building itself is a basic box, designed around typical medical office rooms to allow for the most efficient use of the square footage in the leasable space within the building. The distinguishing features are the entryway and main stair, whose design allows for an expression of arrival and movement to and within the building.

Allied Health Simulation Laboratories Tallahassee, FL

REALISTIC. SPACIOUS. LEARNING ENVIRONMENT.

Florida A&M University

DAG worked with Florida A&M University to renovate approximately 3,000 SF of existing classroom space to create new simulation labs for their Allied Health program. Realistic hospital environments were created where students in Nursing, Health Informatics, Occupational and Physical Therapy are now able to practice their skills while working on training mannequins. Control rooms provide space for instructors to view the students’ work and create real me challenges and emergency scenarios. Debriefing rooms are used to discuss their performance. A separate phase will create an Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy Laboratory.

Northwest Medical Center Atlanta, GA

The programming and design for this 156,000 square foot, four story, medical office building embodies significant building improvements. The building was originally constructed with Core10 steel which began to rustthrough requiring a new skin of insulated metal panels and 1” insulated loading glass which gave the building a fresh new appearance while correcting heat gain and noise issues from the nearby expressway.

Florida State University

Primary Care and Behavioral Health Tallahassee, FL

REALISTIC. SPACIOUS. LEARNING ENVIRONMENT.

Florida State University

The new FSU Primary Health Center will provide a range of primary-care services not currently available in the area. The clinic will be served primarily by the FSU College of Medicine faculty members which will provide them with the opportunity to maintain their practice skills, get valuable interaction with patients and their families, as well as teach and mentor both medical and PA students in a clinical setting. Almost a 10,000-square-foot one story complex will include 15 patient exam rooms, two rooms for behavioral-health services, two health-procedure rooms, conference and a community room. Directly adjacent to the building is the covered ambulance bay that will allow for a pick up and transportation of patients with medical emergencies requiring admission to one of the Tallahassee hospitals. The Health Center was designed to create a prominent and approachable public facility that is equipped to serve the needs of local community bringing essential services to that area.
