SQ RONIN CIRCUIT BOARD

Page 1

FEATURES SQ Ronin Series LED display system shows Eye status, Battery life, and menu system. Zero power drain while turned off. Industry first anti-breech bounce software reduces chopping when a loader is running out of paintballs. Multiple modes of fire ensure compliance with all major tournament series: unlimited semi-automatic, adjustable semi-automatic, PSP ramping, PSP 3 roundburst, NXL full-automatic, Millennium ramping, custom ramping, auto-response, 3 round burst, and full-automatic. Tadao trigger logic asynchronously monitors the trigger switch, using an interrupt based scan at up to 16 million times per second for the quickest response time and fastest semi-automatic.

Tadao dynamic eye logic watches for the bolt to return every shot, cycling the marker as fast as possible. Rate of fire adjustable from 5 to 30 bps in 1.0 bps and 0.1bps increments, plus unlimited rate of fire. Extremely easy to use LED based menu system for changing settings. All settings are stored in non-volatile memory so they are not lost when the battery is disconnected. Additional features include adjustable Debounce, Dwell, Ramp start, Ramp percentage, breakout modes, and more.

4 / QUICK POWER UP

POWER ON/OFF

Turning on the board is instant; just press/release the Power Button. Powering off the board requires pressing and holding the Power Button for approximately 1.5 seconds

AUTO-SHUT OFF

The board features an Auto-Shut off timer. If no shots are fired for 30mins, the board will automatically power down to conserve battery life.

LED

The multicolor LED will display different colors based on which mode of operation the marker is in. At initial power on (boot up sequence) the LED will indicate battery life: Flickering Green – at boot time indicates a good battery. Flickering Orange – at boot time indicates a low battery. Flickering Red – at boot time indicates an exhausted battery. The LED shows the following while in a firing mode: Blinking Green - Eyes On / Empty Breech Solid Green - Eyes on / Ball-in-breech, ready to fire Blinking Orange - Eye Malfunction Blinking Red - Eyes Off

EYES ON/OFF

The eyes can be toggled on and off by pressing and holding the Eye Button for approximately 1.5 seconds. The LED will flash red when the Eyes are turned off.

NOTE: When used, the Eye system allows the marker to cycle as fast as possible. During each shot, the eyes watch for the bolt to return, ending the current firing cycle and starting another as quickly as the pneumatics allow. If the eye system is continually blocked (e.g. broken paint blocking the eyes) and is unable to see the bolt return after every shot, the max rate of fire will be reduced to prevent further chopping of paintballs. The LED will show an eye malfunction by slowly blinking orange.

EYE MODE (DEFAULT FORCED)

Forced shot – marker only fires when a paintball is present or a force shot is initiated by holding down the trigger for ½ second.

6 / MENU SYSTEM

MENU SYSTEM

The SQ Ronin series board uses a color coded menu system. Each setting has its own LED color and/or sequence assigned to it. The Tournament Lock must be disabled in order to enter the Menu System and to change settings on the board. The Tournament Lock is set by placing the jumper box on the locked or unlocked pins, which are located on the bottom left corner of the board with icons labeling the two positions. Placing the jumper box on the pins next to the unlocked icon will disable the Tournament Lock. Note: The Tournament Lock is enabled from the factory. Disable the Tournament Lock to enter the programming mode. To enter the Menu System, make sure the Tournament Lock is disabled and the board is turned off; hold down the trigger while turning the board on. The marker will boot into programming mode, showing a rainbow sequence before stopping at solid green. The board will remember the previously viewed setting after consecutive boots into programming mode. Pull and release the trigger quickly to scroll through the settings. When the last setting is reached, it will return back to the beginning.

A. Hold trigger down. B. Press & Hold power button. To edit modes, circuit board must be unlocked. TOURNAMENT LOCK SWITCH

HOW TO SCROLL

Pull and release the trigger quickly to scroll through the settings. When the last setting is reached, it will return back to the beginning.

Pull & Release

HOW TO SELECT

When LED is lit for the desired setting press and hold the trigger until the LED goes out. When you release the trigger, the LED will blink to show the current setting. For example, if the current setting for Debounce is 10, the LED will blink green 10 times. Once the LED stops blinking, you have 2 seconds to begin entering the new setting. To enter the new setting, pull the trigger the desired number of times. For example, to set the Debounce to 2, you must pull the trigger 2 times. Every time you pull the trigger the LED will light. After all desired settings have been changed turn the marker off by using the power button.

Pull & Hold

Note: If you do not enter a new setting within the time frame, the LED will light back on and the original setting would be saved.

8 /PROGRAMMING

BYPASS BLINKING SEQUENCE

Since some settings may have a very high value, it is not necessary to watch the entire blinking sequence. You can bypass the blink sequence that shows the current value by pulling the trigger once and immediately begin to enter the new value. The trigger pull that cancels the blinking does not count towards the new value you enter.

PROGRAMMING EXAMPLE:

If you want to set the max rate of fire to 20 bps (ball per second), you should: 1. Make sure the marker is powered off and the tournament lock is disabled. 2. Pull / hold the trigger and turn on the marker. 3. The LED shows a rainbow sequence then stops on solid green, which is the fire mode setting (unless previously changed to another setting before turning off the board). 4. Use the trigger to cycle to the max rate of fire setting (solid red). 5. Pull and HOLD the trigger until the LED turns off. 6. Release the trigger. The LED will blink out the current setting (10 blinks to indicate 10bps).

EXIT PROGRAMMIN MODE

7. When the LED stops blinking, enter the new setting by pulling the trigger 20 times.

EXIT Press and hold for 1.5 seconds.

8. Wait until the LED turns back on, indicating programming has been completed. 9. Turn the marker off. FACTORY SETTING RESET Settings reset is performed by entering the programming mode and holding down the eye button for 10 seconds. A rainbow sequence indication on the LED will signify the reset has been completed.

SETTINGS / 9

FIRING MODES: Solid Green (default Semiautomatic unlimited) 1. SEMI-AUTO unlimited 2. SEMI-AUTO adjustable 3. PSP ramping: 1 2 3 – shots semi, on 4th shot ramps, resets after 1 second 4. PSP burst: 1 2 3 – shots semi, on 4th shot fires 3-round burst, resets after 1 second 5. NXL full-auto: 1 2 3 – shots semi, on 4th shot fires full-auto, resets after 1 second 6. Millennium ramping: 1 2 3 – shots semi, on 4th shot ramps, resets after ¼ of a second 7. Custom ramping: user adjustable ramping, select ramp start and ramp percentage 8. Auto-response: fires on each pull and release 9. Burst: fires 3-rounds per pull 10. Full-automatic NOTE: European Edition. If NXL or full-automatic modes are chosen, the board will revert the selection to semi-automatic unlimited.

MAX RATE OF FIRE: Solid Red (default is 10 bps, range 5-30 and unlimited) The semi-automatic unlimited fire mode ignores this value, making it easy to switch back and forth between tournament gun rules without modifying more than 1 setting. Each blink equals 1 bps. If you enter less than 5 pulls it will default to 5. If you enter more than 31 it will default to 31. Unlimited setting only applies to eyes on; eyes off will still be limited to 30 bps.

10 / SETTINGS

FINE RATE OF FIRING TIMING: Solid Orange (default 0.0 bps)

DEBOUNCE: Blinking Green (default 10 ms)

Range from 0.0 – 0.9 bps. Fine adjustments of the max rate of fire are in 0.1 bps increments. The default of 0.0 bps will blink once. For example, when the bps is set to 0.5, the LED will blink 6 times.

Range from 1 – 50 ms (milliseconds). The amount of time the trigger must be released in order for the microcontroller to allow the next trigger pull. Higher values reduce bounce. Lower values can result in the marker firing multiple shots per trigger pull and/or full-auto. Each blink represents 1 millisecond, so the default of 10 milliseconds will blink 10 times. SETTINGS / 11

DWELL Blinking Red (default 6 ms)

RAMPING START: Blinking Orange (default 5)

Range from 4 – 10 ms. The amount of time the solenoid is energized during each firing cycle. Lower settings can be less consistent or prevent the marker from reaching desired velocity. Higher settings are less efficient, both in terms of battery life and air consumption. Each blink represents 1 millisecond, so the default of 6 milliseconds will blink 6 times

Range from 4 - 14 pulls per second. How fast you need to pull the trigger for the ramping fire modes to start adding additional shots.
