DUES What are Dues? Each term, Key Clubbers are expected to pay dues to be considered an official member. This is because membership dues are incredibly important in helping our District run smoothly and allows the members you serve to do some of the following: run for office (club, district, or international), attend District Convention (DCON) and Fall Rally, receive credit for their service hours completed through Key Club, and much more!

Why Should I Pay Dues? There are many benefits from being dues-paid. Being dues paid allows for: ● Scholarship opportunities ● Being able to run for office positions (club/district/international) ● Having your service hours officially recorded ○ This helps you apply for Key Club scholarships! ● Being able to attend District events (ex. Fall Rally and DCON) ● Being insured ○ If you get hurt/injured at a Key Club event, Kiwanis International will cover your medical expenses ● Being recognized through the Member Recognition Program (MRP) ● Enter for Division and District Member Recognition contests (i.e Distinguished!)

How Much are Dues?

12

The cost of dues is completely dependent on your home club. The minimum cost for dues is $11.50, however the amount you actually pay can be higher, depending on what other expenses your club wants to raise (ex. transportation, etc) Here is the breakdown of dues: ● International: $7.00 ● District: $4.50 ● Total: $11.50

DUES How do I Pay Dues? The instructions on HOW exactly to pay dues will be coming soon. As current conditions prevail, most of us aren’t in school physically; this means that the process for paying dues will be different this term. In the meantime, pay close attention to when these instructions come out. Keep an eye out for this news through: ●

San Marcos Tech Editor - Mae Hong Marine Letters On the week of August 9th, the San Marcos High School Key Club worked with the Key Clubs of Mission Hills High School and La Costa Canyon High School to write and deliver letters to Marines overseas during the COVID-19 pandemic. Members were encouraged to write about their own experiences and give encouragement and gratitude to these brave soldiers overseas. We are truly grateful to all the members who participated, and the letters have already been shipped out to their recipients!

Del Lago Tech Editor - Diego Rocio American Legion The day of the American Legion dinner, I was tired, but I wasn't about to let that stop me from doing volunteer work and assisting others. I was in the clean up crew and my job was to clean tables after customers left, as well taking orders to the kitchen, so our cook’s could prepare it. Our dinners have been served outdoors (due to the pandemic) and us wanting to keep everyone in a safe environment, so I've seen people social distancing. My favorite part of these events is seeing how much we help out around the place.
