HELLO JELLIES!

I hope you all are well and still practicing social distancing. I know it may be hard for us when we’re missing our friends, but fear not; we will meet each other eventually! For now, please practice good hygiene by washing your hands and prevent the spread by wearing a face mask in public. It’s incredibly important that you all take the necessary precautions to preventing COVID-19. With this, we can flatten the curve and shorten our time in quarantine. Luckily, we are able to earn service hours from the comfort of our own home! In April, our division has offered service hours for writing thankful letters to medical staff. I hope we can all meet again soon, please stay safe and healthy during this time! STINGING WITH SERVICE, Natasha Tran Division News Editor

LETTER FROM THE EDITOR

I am so incredibly excited to serve as your News Editor this term! I can’t wait to accomplish lots alongside DLT and I hope I can see you all soon! Let’s make this term great! :D I can already feel the success!

03

LETTER FROM THE LTG HEY JELLIES! Welcome to the second edition of The Sting -- our Division News Editor Natasha’s first official newsletter! I hope you have resting well at home and doing your part to help flatten the curve one day at a time. Rather than letting the day fly past us, please consider participating in all the club and divisional events we have to offer! We may be staying at home but service doesn’t stop. We cannot easily predict when the restrictions due to COVID-19 will be lifted, so earn your service hours through our virtual events now, especially if you would like to be recognized on the division AND district level by the end of the term (refer to page 14 for more information)! I implore you to start mapping out your plans for the term as soon as possible in order to establish a clearer idea of what you hope to achieve. Although we cannot meet each other for a while given the current circumstances, I will still be here for you every step of the way during your Key Club journey :) Feel free to reach out to me or message me any time via Instagram, text, or email! See you soon <3

WITH MATCHA LOVE, Lynne Do Lieutenant Governor

DIVISION POINTS SYSTEM FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS WHAT IS THE DIVISION POINTS SYSTEM? The Division Points System, a new system implemented by our MRC Mya Reyes, is a spreadsheet intended to record the progress of individual clubs through a points system. This system is dependent on the points clubs earn through various categories.

WHERE CAN I FIND THE SYSTEM? Click HERE or go to tinyurl.com/jelly-points2021

HOW DOES IT WORK? This point system will allow clubs to map out their term by setting any goals/plans to ensure their club can earn points. The club with the most accumulated amount of points by the end of the term will earn CLUB OF THE YEAR and will be awarded with a trophy!

WHAT CATEGORIES ARE THERE? ★ Submissions (includes bonus points) ★ Attendance (includes bonus points) ★ Promotion ★ Recognition ★ Funds Raised for PTP ★ Membership

IS THERE A LIMIT FOR HOW MANY POINTS YOU CAN EARN PER CATEGORY? No! Earn as many points as possible from all categories throughout the term!

07

DIVISION GOALS DIVISION GOALS FOR THE 2020 - 2021 TERM!

DEL LAGO ACADEMY Although we are currently in a pandemic and because of it, it is hard to find ways to help our community as well as following the safety guidelines. We have found a way to help our community while staying safe, which is done through feeding the homeless. Members come in very early in the morning at 5 am, and of course we are all masked up along with some gloves :) We help prepare breakfast, sandwiches, and lunch bags which are delivered to various families throughout the day. We have been doing this every Friday of the week and we also substitute anytime there aren’t enough volunteers. Through this members from our cub have learned to appreciate the resources we have available such as food, toiletries, clothing and etc. Many people lack of resources so we are now trying our best to help out and give back to our community.

- Irma Gonzalez Executive Assistant, President

MISSION HILLS On April 24, 2020, we had the Division Banquet, which was held on Discord. Mission Hills had four members attend the event. Jane, our previous LTG, presented awards. Afterwards, the floor was opened to anyone who wanted to speak and then Jane said a little speech. During the remainder of the time, some people stayed back, in the call, and chatted amongst one another.

T L I G H T S

ESCONDIDO My favorite service project was writing thank you emails to the teachers for teacher appreciation. It was my favorite because I was able to express my gratefulness to not only my teachers this year, but to the teachers I've had in the past. Also because when they emailed me back, it made me happy to know that I made them feel special and happy. I'm glad I joined Key Club because it makes me happy to know that I'm doing something for my community

- Angeleah Madore Member

HIGH TECH This week, HTHNC, along with many other schools in our division worked together and participated in a service week created to support those in our community during these stressful and frightening times. These daily projects have been a constant reminder of the amount of love we have for those around us along with the love those have for us which we hope to display through future projects!
