InJune'20,IhadtheprivilegeofmeetingRashmiLokapure ma’am,alifecoachwhointroducedmetoDananjaya Hettiarachchi's2014WorldChampionofPublicSpeaking speechonYouTube,whichdemonstratedtheeffectiveuse ofpropsincommunication.Watchingthevideo,I questionedmyselfiftheintrovertedbudinmecould bloomintoaconfidentspeaker.Introducingmeto ToastmastersInternational,anon-profitorganizationthat aimstodevelopleadershipandcommunicationskills amongitsmembersRashmima’aminstilledthe confidencethatitwaspossible.
Initially,IassumedthatToastmasterswasonlyavailable ‘internationally’andnotinIndia.However,in2021,I discoveredtheExpeditionToastmastersPuneClubonmy company'sintranetpageandwasoverjoyedtoknowthat mycompanyhadaToastmastersclub.
IjoinedinSeptember2021andhaveslowlyprogressedwearingmanyhats,takingon differentrolesinmeetings,deliveringspeeches,andexploringvariousavenuesofselfimprovement ItookupdesigningZoombackgroundsforouronlinemeetings,whichwas noticedbytheExecutiveCommittee(ExCom)andledtomyappointmentasVicePresident ofPublicRelationsinJuly2022.AsanExCommember,Ihavegainedabetterunderstanding oftheeffortsrequiredtosuccessfullyrunoneofthebiggestclubsinDistrict125.
AftertwoyearsasaToastmaster,Ihaveblossomedintoaconfidentspeakerandinspiredmy colleaguestoembarkonanExpeditiontobeaToastmastersinPune,knowingthattheClub isasafeplacetogrow.Moresignificantthanwinningthe'RisingStar'awardwasmy manager'sacknowledgementinarecentteammeeting,"WhenIthinkofToastmasters,I thinkofKunal!"
It all started way back in 2015 when I stumbled upon in a toastmasters Club at Infosys Bangalore. I had prior experience being on stage for elocution, recitation, drama etc.Ifoundtoastmastersasaplacetounwind,relax,learn, andgrow.
The growth that I've achieved in my personal and professional front is immense. It has helped me to groom my leadership skills and sharpen my communication. Toastmastersgivesyouthatopportunitytomakemistakes and learn from them. The more you grow outside of toastmastersshowcasesyourgrowthintoastmasters.

But thats not all I have taken away from Toastmasters, the camaraderie, the feedback, the initiative, the strife for excellence have all been an organic learning from this centennial organisation!
