Hey Ballers :) Happy September 1st! I hope all of you had a good first month of school! It’s almost time to get excited for club rush and fall rally… I CAN’T WAIT! I know we’ve all been busy with school so make sure to take time to wind down! Personally, this past month has really pushed me back into reality. Currently: missing vacation :’( When days and weeks start to feel repetitive, remember that you’re always growing. If COVID has taught us anything, it’s that we should be grateful. Make the most out of your highschool experience! Join sports and clubs now that we’re in person! Before dues come around make sure to promote your club and recruit new members, and before Fall Rally North try to find new fundraising ideas for PTP! Since September is starting, think about participating in SERVEtember (more information on page 12). Complete the SERVEtember bucket list for a chance to be showcased in the next district newsletter! This month’s color scheme is purple, one of my favorite colors ;) As always, stay safe, wear your mask and social distance! Stay positive <3! Signing off in service!

LTG’s Note: Hello, Ballers! It’s September, which means that we are all officially back in school! I hope you are all getting situated and having a great school year so far. At this time of the year, a variety of events lies ahead of us! One of the major parts of September is member recruitment. Take advantage of being in-person and create posters, trifolds, videos, and more to advertise your club! Don’t be afraid to ask friends and teachers to help advertise your club too. Of course, you can utilize social media to spread the word as well. Another major part of the month is fundraising for the Pediatric Trauma Program (PTP)! Read on to find out more about this charity. Hold a fundraising event for PTP this month to contribute to our Division goals and then wait to celebrate our fundraising efforts at Fall Rally North in October! I’m full of fundraiser ideas, so if you have any trouble brainstorming, reach out to me! I’ll give you some ideas right now too ;) You can hold bake sales, Dine & Donate events (partnerships with local restaurants such as Chipotle), pie members for PTP, and more! Get creative and have FUN!! Thank you so much for your unrivaled dedication and hard work so far, Ballers! Let’s look forward to all that is to come! Be sure you take advantage of it! Until next time, Ballers!

On Saturday, July 31st, Benicia Key Club held their second succulent sale in downtown Benicia. We set up our succulents in front of a Kiwanian’s store on First Street at 11:00 am and sold them until 3:00 in the afternoon. The succulents ranged from $5 up to $20 depending on the type, size, and pot. There were a total of 4 members volunteering throughout the day. Benicia Key Club raised a total of $500 that will all be donated to the Pediatric Trauma Program!

“Safekey” You may hear this term in general meetings, DCMs and other events, but what does it actually mean? Safekey is the CNH District’s peer-coaching program. It helps to educate students to ensure they understand how to use technology safely and properly. How can YOU be Safekey? Be professional: have the skill, good judgment, and polite behavior that is expected from a person who is trained to do a job well. Care about your identity: think about your impressions on other people. Lastly, beware of cyber bullying and display only things that are appropriate. But what is cyber bullying, and what is considered inappropriate online? CHARITY SPOTLIGHT: Pediatric Trauma Program ABOUT. Pediatric trauma is life-threatening injury to children and it's the number one killer of children in America, more than all other causes combined. These injuries require hospitalization, and usually emergency surgery. The mission of our Pediatric Trauma Program (PTP) is to develop local projects which will reduce the number of children in our three-state District who are killed or injured by trauma, ensuring all children live happy, healthy and safe lives. Through your gifts, you prevent and treat childhood trauma through our Pediatric Trauma Program; empower student leaders through leadership development and scholarship support; and provide grants to Kiwanis family clubs that enable them to develop projects that serve, protect, and transform children’s lives. Your general donation will be used where the need is greatest.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?. When you make a contribution to PTP, you… ● provide grants to our partner hospitals, enabling them to create or expand community outreach programs; ● provide grants to Kiwanis and SLP clubs, enabling them to help more children in more communities; and ● you provide PTP safety items, which are available for purchase by our Kiwanis family at a subsidized cost. https://www.cnhfoundation.org/make-a-donation/ 13
