Congrats ballers! We’ve all finally made it through this school year and I hope you’re all having a fun summer so far :) I’ve personally been going out to eat a lot, binge watching kdramas, reading, playing video games, swimming, playing tennis and crocheting! With more and more vaccines being distributed I’m hoping to see you all in person very soon! I’ve been brainstorming new service and social ideas so feel free to message me if your club is interested in meeting up for an interclub (; This month, I decided to go for a different vibe and switch up the theme with a green color palette. I hope you like it and enjoy reading <3 Until next month,

What’s Poppin’ Ballers! Can you believe that it is already July? I hope you are getting a much-needed rest from school and are taking care of your mental health. Personally, I have been spending my time reading, listening to music, and working on Key Club >:3 Although we are in the midst of summer, it’s never too early to start planning for when the school year begins. Think about your action plan for recruiting new members and brainstorm the events you wish to pursue when we can get together in person! Also, take advantage of the summer weather! Maybe hold an ice cream fundraiser/social, a lemonade stand, a water balloon fight, and more? ;) I am so proud of what we have accomplished so far as a Division and look forward to what we will continue to accomplish. Keep up the wonderful work, Ballers!

AMERICAN CANYON: eLEMONate Officer Bonding Victoria Rose Leon, ACHS . During the last day of the 4-day weekend, 5/6 of the current officer board planned to meet up at Shenandoah Park. Well... change 5 to 6 and we’re all set, as Marielle, our president, surprised us when we thought that she wasn’t able to come. Throughout the meetup, we commemorated our first fundraiser of the term, which was set to raise funds for the Eliminate Project. Marielle was the only one out of everyone on the board who was eating them nonchalantly, as she was already used to it after a couple of full lemons. Aside from that, we had the chance to let loose through photography and enjoy our first meetup of the term with the entirety of the board. 11

About ELIMINATE . The Eliminate Project is a collaboration of Kiwanis and UNICEF, aiming to help put an end to maternal and neonatal tetanus (MNT), the Eliminate project protects the lives of babies and mothers all over the globe. MNT affects almost 31,000 mothers and children each year. Through the Eliminate Project, vaccines have been provided for only 1.80 each, and MNT has been eradicated from over 40 countries. 12

JESSE BETHEL: Cards For Healthcare Workers Raven Guilas, JBHS. This month our members participated in our very first service project of the new term. In this asynchronous service project we showed our appreciation for Healthcare workers by making cards for them. The members created intricate and beautifully designed cards to give to healthcare workers. These were distributed to healthcare workers in our families and home health nurses!

RODRIGUEZ: Homeless Care Packages Anika Yogi, RHS. Our club hosted an event to make Care Packages for the homeless in order to help provide them with supplies. We wanted to be able to give back to our community and help give necessities to those in need. Members of our club donated items such as hand me down clothing, non-perishable snacks, face masks, blankets, water, and more. We hosted a volunteering event to go with the care packages, where members could join a google meet and make DIY masks and tote bags to donate.

CHARITY SPOTLIGHT: Kiwanis Family House Also known as the Governor’s Project, Kiwanis family house provides temporary housing for the families of pediatric patients at the UC Davis Medical Center and Shriners Hospital. KFH serves families all across California and even across the nation. Supporting KFH also means supporting PTP, strengthening K-Family interactions, and increasing awareness of Kiwanis projects. A sense of community, dedication to service, respect for families, augmentation of services provided by other organizations, collaboration with community partners, foster awareness for those in need, and generosity are their seven core values. How can YOU help? . Make a direct donation of any amount (Scan the QR code), volunteer if you’re in the area, or donate through Amazon Smile! 15

CNH SPOTLIGHT ON SERVICE: JULY & AUGUST

With a bright sun and blue skies, July is the perfect month to focus on going outside, getting active, and staying on the move! Volunteer at marathons, clean parks, or host an olympics. Put down the electronics and enjoy the outdoors!

Celebrate and serve with the Kiwanis Family for the month of November! Plan a Thanksgiving-style meal with the 6 branches of the K-Fam, have Key Clubbers take over your local Kiwanis club’s meeting by hosting it, or send thank you notes to the Kiwanians. 16
