The Delhi Times Fashion Week (DTFW) had a glittering start in the capital on Friday. The three-day fashion extravaganza, powered by Danj Entertainment, had an impressive lineup of designers from the fashion industry showcasing their finest collections. Day 1 was all about festive fashion and had known names like Rina Dhaka, Anupamaa Dayal, Nikhita Tandon and designer duo Anjalee and Arjun Kapoor headlining the event, which is being held at Roseate House, Aerocity.

Day three of the Delhi Times Fashion Week (DTFW) 2019 powered by Danj Entertainment at Roseate House, Aerocity, was the perfect amalgamation of style and glamour. The Delhi Times Fashion Week is all geared up to amaze Delhities by bringing the best in the lifestyle space under one roof. The event is scheduled on 5th, 6th & 7th April at Roseate House, Aerocity. The gala event promises to up the fashion quotient of the city by showcasing collections and limited editions by eminent designers like Charu Parashar, Mandira Wirk, Narendra Kumar & others. The young designers of GD Goenka University (School of Fashion & Design) showcased GD Goenka Collettivo 2019. The first collection was by a group of eight students, which was followed by a showcase of around five designs each by individual students.

The young designers of GD Goenka University (School of Fashion & Design) showcased GD Goenka Collettivo 2019. Pastel perfect - Mandira Wirk

Designer Mandira Wirk presented her collection titled The Dainty Affaire, inspired by French designs and silhouettes, on Day 1 of the Delhi Times Fashion Week 2019. “This collection is a great amalgamation of vintage and modernity.

This collection is a great amalgamation of vintage and modernity. And I feel a lot of Indians can carry this colour palette easily,” Mandira said. Sophie Choudry, who was the showstopper, said, “Mandira always makes me do different things. Once she made me get out of a doli in a bridal outfit. The other time she made me a Christian bride and this time I feel like a princess,” said Sophie. Be it short skirts, tunics with embroidered motifs, straight-fit dresses or kurtas in subtle shades, designer Anand Bhushan’s collection, Sprout, had everything that any woman would want in her summer wardrobe. “The collection has our signature floral patterns from the ’70s and ’80s. It has something for women of all age groups,” Anand said.

Ramp debut This collection by the House of JEDIIIANS was presented in London last year. It was designed by the students of different courses and semesters. Every collection that was put on the ramp had something interesting about it. Like one collection was created with biodegradable plastic to promote the idea of sustainability in fashion. Showcasing here at the DTFW has been a fantastic experience for us and the students.

The designer redefined athleisure with bomber jackets, cropped sweatpants, jogger pants in shades like orange, lemon green and pink. The collection, titled ‘No #’, was especially designed for the millennials. I think it’s time athleisure should not just be limited to coffee shops, but also make their way to clubs. With this collection we have worked on creating a luxury athleisure line for people every age group,” said the designer. Day two of Delhi Times Fashion Week 2019 powered by Danj Entertainment at Roseate House, was all about presenting fashion must-haves this season. Motifs inspired by Mughal architecture, intricate embroidery and mix of fabrics like net and satin stood out in Orient Electric Presents Al – Indian Luxury by Leena J Singh from Ashima Leena. Long skirts with straight jackets, saris and kurtas with broad pants were part of the collection “that took its name from the Turkish word ‘Heera Noori’, which means a queen from the palace,” said the designer, adding, “It is inspired by the inlay work on domes that are a part of Mughal architecture. I have researched for six months to create this line.

Redefining athleisure With some peppy music, neon shades and models grooving on ramp, designer Narendra Kumar’s show was an exciting end to the first day of DTFW. The designer redefined athleisure with bomber jackets, cropped sweatpants, jogger pants in shades like orange, white and black.

“The womenswear collection was especially created for DTFW. A lot of female models were wearing sneakers with sherwanis, printed jackets.

Fusion-istic Designer Charu Parashar’s collection had prints highlighted with embroidered outlines. Sherwanis paired with denims and printed jackets with frilled pants made it fit for springsummer. “The menswear collection was especially created for DTFW. A lot of male models were wearing sneakers with sherwanis, printed jackets. Most of my athleisure line has hand embroidery. We had a lot of fusion wear for women as well – lehenga skirts and also some dresses,” said the designer, who walked with her son, Arjun Parashar, to take a final bow on the ramp at the end of the show.

Casual & chic - Akhil Jain

A casual line by high street brand Madame was much appreciated by the guests. The collection boasted of muted tones and monochromes. With frilly gowns, jumpsuits with tassels and see-through skirts, designer Neetu Singh’s show, presented by Danj, had princess-y dresses. The show began with monochromes and sequin embroidery was used in selective outfits as the only embellishment. Fabrics used were mostly chiffon and nets. “This collection was designed keeping in mind women who love dressing up, but do not want anything over-embellished or heavily embroidered,” said Neetu. it had quite a mix. “We are glad to collaborate again with DTFW. It helps us get recognition among other brands,” said Akhil Jain, Executive Director, Madame.

Drape me different - Subarna Ray

Subarna Ray Chaudhuri’s collection was about being “being comfortable and having fun”. It had saris with quirky prints in summer fabrics like mullcotton,matkasilk and khadi. Subarana, who is a popular Bollywood costume designer, said, “This line is a blend of vintage and urban. If there’s one message for women from this show, it is that wearing a sari can be fun too. Showstopper Raima Sen said, “This has been a fantastic and lively show. I love wearing saris and what I wore was absolutely fun and comfortable.”.

Funtastic fash With models shaking a leg on the ramp, designer Ken Ferns’ show, presented by Danj, was the most fun show of the day. Funky prints, neon shades and blingy accessories stood out. “I have travelled across the world and this was my interpretation of different tribes,” said the designer, adding, “It was great to work with the DTFW team and I think I totally nailed the show.” Cricketer Sreesanth walked the ramp for the designer. I am not someone who wears so many colours, but it was great to dress up in this colourful jacket, said Sreesanth. Former Bigg Boss contestant Ajaz Khan was also a part of the show as a special guest. It was a pleasure showcasing at DTFW. My collection is not just for the bride, it is for anyone attending beach weddings. This was a fun collection and can be for women of any age group.

Beach ready Day three began with Sakshi Bindra’s show that was presented by Danj. The opening show was the showcase of a resortwear line. The show started with models walking in bikini tops in shades of blue with shimmery see-through jackets and sequined skirts. The later part of the show was all about gowns and evening dresses designed keeping in mind beach parties.

With silks, zardozi, zari and dabka work, designer Gagan Kumar’s show, presented by Danj, was truly royal, for women,there were lehengas in colours that ranged from bright fuchsia.

Hello summer Designer Payal Jaiswal’s SpringSummer collection was an ode to nature’s transformation through designs that were pristine white with streaks of blue and yellow. Most fabrics used in the collection were cotton and linen, making the collection fit for the summer. “The collection titled Ambaram drew its inspiration from the colours of the sky. All I wanted while creating the line was that it should be wearable for everyone,” said Payal. Apart from designer shows, many top labels will also be presenting their latest lines at the event. While designer Meghna Kumari’s collection, Shikarbaagh, borrows it’s inspirations from The Great Gatsby and the roaring ’20s, Rashmi Chhabra’s line, Go Red, explores urban outfits with glimpses of Indian signature styles. A lot of ladies sported beautiful pastels, whites, and pinks for the award show. Mandy Moore looked absolutely stunning in a custom Brandon Maxwell off-the-shoulder gown with a pink ruched V-neck top and red skirt featuring a thigh-high slit, which she coupled with red sandals, Forevermark jewellery pieces, and romantic waves. However, Moore wasn’t the one’s attention on the carpet.

While Niki Mahanjan’s collection featured unique block prints made by hand, Rajdeep Ranawat (inset) showcased bandhani prints and Mughal motifs, and Siddartha Tytler presented a collection featuring beautiful embroidery work at the event, which was held at Roseate, Aerocity. Miss Grand India 2019, was the showstopper and looked stunning in a red shirt and printed lehenga.

Rajdeep Ranawat presented his collection of long floral skirts and see-through blouses, cropped pants and printed jackets and tops with a hint of crystals. Be it dhoti pants,dresses or jackets,prints like bandhani and those inspired by Mughal motifs were common in the outfits. The designer, who made his debut at DTFW this season, said that he couldn’t be happier with the experience. “The Delhi Times Fashion Week is a great platform for designers and this season has some amazing lineup of designers.
