Thomas Schädler has a very clear vision of his role as Director General of Collège du Lé-man. He shows real passion for the job as he describes his philosophy and outlines his ob-jectives for pupils at the school. A charismatic and commanding presence, he is truly the heart and soul of Collège du Léman. THE MADE FOR YOU PROGRAMME IN POLE POSITION Mr. Schädler has a strong educational ethos and down-to-earth approach which ensures the principles underpinning Collège du Léman go above and beyond mere concepts of learning and transmission of knowledge. The Director General of Collège du Léman believes that pupils have the best chance of success and fulfilment when they are solving problems for themselves in a process of self-discovery. It is not about imposing one particular way of thinking, but rather allowing students to develop their own methods, according to their strengths and personality, while respecting their individuality. Through problem solving, pupils are challenged as individuals; it is a way of finding out about themselves and exceeding their own expectations. It is also a basis for learning social skills and how to communicate by putting into practice the values they have learned. Children discover
and build on their potential and grows in their own way - this is the essence of the school’s “Made for You” programme: to be oneself, through a truly high-class education; and to take those values into the real world! Because the truth is, you can give children all the tools, but if they are not the right ones or if they have not learned how to use them properly, they will not succeed when they leave school, either professionally or personally.

The Michel Vaillant comics, the eponymous series about a French racing driver, that he borrowed secretly from his elder brother when he was a child, promoting important human values, definitely made a deep impression on Mr. Schädler. They allowed him to understand, from an early age, the power of the fundamental principles he holds so dear and which now resonate at Collège du Léman, and make him an exceptional leader. He is someone who has the will and the appetite to change the world with something unique: education. So here he is, our definition of a great man, a hero of modern times, able to build dreams for the future and make them happen for children.
