“A museum is a place where one should lose one’s head” { Renzo Piano }
Intentions The proposed idea draws on two aspects: a) the objectives arising from the grassroots: a new building for the Hotel Carrillo with strong image b) the combination of the various urban and landscape factors operating in the environment of this hotel project located in the lakes of Calamuchita valley .
Site Features The site presents a clear pedestrian accessibility. In Aguas Claras there are not many open sharing apartments that would allow use of open visual line of site .
Project Summary + 10.41Mtrs: Social Areas, Room, Dining Room, SUM, services that are related to the terraces overlooking the lake. Level +7.41Mtrs.: Extension and containment of terrace strips. +3.95 to + 6.41: Tennis courts, bocce court, pool, oasis, and built basketball court / footbal / field.
I collaborated on model making, hand renders, and different stages of design drawings
A project for artists and performers.

The organization of each apartment goes from the most public, a communal stage, to the most private, a cantilevered bedroom.

“Architecture is a visual art, and the buildings speak for themselves { Julia Morgan }
There is a system to collect and recycle water that will feed into the plants in the long patios. Life in the apartments is collective like the life of the people who choose to live there.
Residents are always working on improving and polishing their performances. For this reason, being a neighbor of those characters is a unique experience. They dance and sing while they complete domestic tasks like cooking or taking a bath.
I extracted the roof in the patio areas in order to provide additional sunlight and fresh air to the dwellings.
During the day, there are puppeteers performing with a little bit of magic to hypnotize not only kids but grown-ups. Because they live and work in the same unit, the use of the car is null. As many artist do, during the day they rest and gain energy for the night’s performance.
But it is during the night when the entire building is more active, bright, and full of life. Everyone is on the stage, performing and showing their best. During the week we can see them practicing, but during weekends everything is professionally perfect.

The study of the shape is based on my research about urban appropriation and urban scale. The main building houses public activities, and the secondary one the administrative activities.
The shape of the building reflects the activities it houses. The auditorium is located in such a way to emphasize the public entrance.
There is a continuous view flow from the public street to the interior of the museum,

Residential Planting I chose native plants that attract birds and butterflies: The Blue Oak does that. Because this project is in California, I chose plants that are drought tolerant: The Mountain Lilac does that. I chose red flowers that attract hummingbirds and has medicinal properties: The Pineapple Sage does that.
