Azzie Finishes D16 Season! Lake Mills, WI - October 12 By Dave Hollub

O

ctober always means a close to the motocross season at Aztalan Cycle Club, it also means a chance to pay respects to two former members lost at a young age to cancer. The race is the Randy Schuessler/ Gabe Leonard Memorial race and the club uses this weekend to raise money for the fight to eliminate cancer. This year the weather was a perfect fall day for the 350 entries that came out. When the gate dropped for the 34 riders in 250C, Jake Garwood launched out front and stayed there to the finish. James Burd settled into second, and despite pressure from Lucas Zimmerman all moto held the position. Seth Doeberlein was in fourth until Craig Flancher got by early in lap two. Garwood was out front again at the first corner in the second moto and immediately began putting a gap on everyone else. Simon Walters

came over the plateau on lap one in second with Zimmerman, Hunter Schueller, and Joseph Scheiber right behind. Flancher worked his way into fifth before the checkers came out. Garwood took the overall with his 1/1 day while Zimmerman (4/3) was second and Walters (6/2) was third. Eli Walters followed Tyler Murrie around the first corner in 250B moto one. Walters wasn’t wasting any time and the first time over the plateau he was out front and had already opened up some breathing room over Murrie. Aaron Sirko and Nicholas Czechowicz were close behind. Czechowicz moved into third when Sirko went down on lap two. Kenny Ehredt was fourth with Mason Persha right behind. Murrie bobbled on lap three after the plateau and fell back to mid-pack leaving the door open for Czechowicz to finish second just in front of Ehredt and Persha. In moto two, Walters grabbed the holeshot and immediately

started pulled away. Czechowicz got past Murrie on lap two for second. Jacob Jesko was next in line to challenge Murrie and made the pass before the lap ended. Jesko began chasing down Czechowicz. Jesko pressured him through the fourth lap and finally made a pass stick as they went over the plateau on lap five. Jesko held on to second at the checkers. The 1/1 day gave Walters his first overall of the day while Czechowicz (2/3) was second and Persha turned is 4/4 day into a third overall. After taking the 250B and Open B overalls as well as a second in Sportsman B/C Walters commented, “My day went really good, I had some good motos and went 1-1 in 250 and

Open B, and Sportsman went 2/2 right behind Jamison Duclos. I thought I was going to get him that last moto but realized it was only four laps instead of six like the others. I just did my best and worked my way through the pack when I had to. Once I was out front I settled in and rode my own pace, stayed true and did what I know how to do. Overall a real great day, my Southeast Sales Suzuki is performing great. Thanks also to All Good Healthy Fast Food, Life vantage with Axio Energy drink, ProTaper, Decal Works Graphics and my Mom and Dad.” Elijah Tetzlaff edged out Jackson Oehlhof for the holeshot in moto one of 65cc, but Cole Godfrey and Justin
