Log Road Opens ‘10 with a bang Bronson, Michigan - April 3 By Bart Newman

T

he 2010 Great Lakes Motocross season opener brought nearly 300 entries to Log Road MX in hopes of kicking off the season with a win. In the mini ranks it was Jacob Williamson who led the season opener winning five of six motos on his way to overalls in the Super Mini, 85 9-13 and 85Sr. classes. In the 50ss class it was a battle up front between a couple of fast Hoosier riders as Kaden Parmley and Greg Stewart locked horns in a couple great motos on the Log Road MX little track. In the 85cc 9-13 class it was Team Green rider Mitchell Harrison that chased Williamson unsuccessfully in both motos as two of the top GLMX mini riders lined up for some early season drama. Williamson was the king of the holeshot and led both motos from the drop of the gate to the checkered flag. Harrison was second in both motos, well ahead of third place Hunter Burnham. Tristen Mcdonald (4-6) had a solid day as he and Tyler Jorgenson (7-5) both had a moto in the top five matching their day’s overall finish. Quads will run at all Log Road events in 2010, and it was speed and consistently that paid off in the Quad C class. Justin Vanarman was to strong for the field all day long winning both motos in the dry and wet conditions out running Dustin Dihle (2-2) and fellow podium pilot Jimmy Otis (3-3). In the 50ss motos it was Parmley who nailed the holeshot with Stewart, Clyde Miller, Jacob Bibler and Dagan Emert in tow. Parmley had great lines and his KTM was dialed in as he took the wins in both motos on his way to the overall. Stewart was way fast as well and locked down a pair of runner-up finishes. Miller (4-3) out-gunned Emert (3-5) in moto two to lock up the last spot on the podium while Bartley (6-4) was the last rider in the top five. The biggest class of the day was 250C with over thirty riders lined up on the gate for battle. Between the class size and Mother Nature’s antics with a strong down pour in between motos, the running order was as mixed up as Aunt Emily’s cake mix. In moto one it was Honda rider Jacob Miller (1-21) who grabbed the early lead and took the win. Second moto winner Tyler Grewe (5-1) found a grove in the rain, and stretched the throttle cable on his Kawasaki to take the second moto win which also lined him up for the day’s overall with a total score of six. Travis Winter (3-3) jumped up to the big bikes in 2010 and came out grabbing two thirds and second overall for his efforts. The final man on the podium was Elkhart’s own Mitchell 20
