une in Wisconsin means summertime, nice weather, vacations, campfires, and motocross. The third weekend in June had us traveling to the western part of the state to the Arkansaw Cycle Park in Arkansaw, WI. We set up camp Friday night with expectations of a ride day on Saturday and District 16 points racing on Sunday. A steady rain Friday night gave the facility a nice soaking for the open ride, but sunny skies all day Saturday and Sunday would set the track up for great racing on Sunday. I have to say, if you are one of those riders watching the radar on Thursday and thinking oh, looks like rain, let’s go to the beach, well; do not underestimate Jason and Jessica and the Arkansaw crew as they did a fantastic job getting the track into mint condition for Sunday. Before I get to the race action on Sunday, I have to tell you I learned something new from my good friends Eddie and Kathy Rankin. Did you know you could boil an omelet? I didn’t either, but let me tell you, I was intrigued and thought of doing it at the racetrack in a turkey fryer had me elbow deep mixing eggs and inKevin Gollubske on the gas Mini Open.

gredients helping with a line waiting half way across the pits. After a thirty minute process, it was worth the wait. Nothing like farm fresh eggs, with onion, pepper, ham, mushrooms, salt pepper and cheese with a hint of salsa to start the day off right. Once we got to the racing on Sunday, it was the Peewee classes taking to the freshly groomed track. Kyler Gollubske topped 50Sr. Logan Kresal was our overall winner in 50Jr with Brady Kirckner and Lane Rhyme were trading moto positions for second and third place. Hunter Kirchner, Kobe Miller and Beau Noaelli were all battling away behind them also all swapping moto positions. One of the next classes I watched was Women’s. Sierra Heindl made the switch this year from a 250F to 125cc two stroke, and the bike and Sierra seem to get along just fine as she ripped the holeshot in moto one. Followed by Leea Niesen and Kendra Randrup, these three battled out front with another trio going at it behind them with Angel Ennis, Tanya Kallenbach and Kaila Forstner. On lap two, both Randrup and Niesen went down moving Ennis into second place. Randrup picked herself up before Niesen and both were up and running again. As they got to the checkers, it was Heindl followed by Randrup, Niesen, Ennis and Kallenbach for the top five. In moto two, Heindl pulled the holeshot with Randrup and Niesen in tow. Niesen got around Randrup and also made the pass on Heindl in the

second lap. Randrup did all she could to try and close the gap on the Niesen but ran out of time. Niesen took the checkers and the overall with her 3-1 scores tying Randrup’s 2-2 but beating her with a better second moto finish. Open C was dominated by the #510 of Logan Telfer who pulled great starts and ran away with both moto wins and the overall. In moto one, Telfer held a slight edge over the Cale Ninneman and Michael Kingstad. On lap two, Telfer got a little sideways off the finish line jump and Ninneman reeled in the leader. On the last lap, Telfer smoothed out his riding and started to pull away but the race was on for second as Kingstad really wanted to nudge Ninneman, and he finally got him before the checkers taking the second spot away. Jonathan Gustum and Chris Groenier rounded out the top five. Telfer was out front in moto two, this time with Kingstad running second and Ninneman giving chase. Gustum had minor issues on the first lap and found himself playing catch up all moto. Groenier and Ry Baumann had some exciting moments as well. At the end of lap two Ninneman went down in the finish line corner trying to make a pass on second, and lost a couple spots to Baumann and Daniel Hutman. As the moto wound down, Ninneman got back around Hutman. At the checkers, Telfer had the win and the overall ahead of Kingstad and Groenier who rounded out the top three. Baumann held off Ninneman, but Ninneman’s 3-5 would best Baumann’s 6-4.
