Hi friends Good news! Another Lucky $5 note prize went off last week. The lucky winner was James Hayes who won $275 cash. There’s still plenty of cash to be won so keep checking those numbers each week. This week’s lucky numbers are on page 23. It’s Small Business Month and Westpac has kindly invited PhotoNews to put up a small display in their Summer Street office. If you’re in Westpac this week, take a gander at our display which also features this week’s Lucky $5 note numbers. There are also a few leaflets that tell you how to grow your business, how to appear in PhotoNews or give someone a Thumbs up or down and some information about our online Orange News Now website. Focusing on Ability The Central West Special Olympics Committee will be holding an Open Day this Sunday to give an insight into what sporting opportunities are available to people with an Intellectual Disability, and to also highlight the achievements of the Central West Team.

CHRIS BENNETTS Special OlympicS auStralia is the not-for-profit organisation that transforms the lives of people with an intellectual disability through sport. each week, dedicated volunteers provide quality sports training to almost 4000 athletes in over 250 sports clubs across australia. training is provided in a range of sports, and all skill levels are catered for. chairperson for the Special Olympics central West, David tandy, said the Open Day is an opportunity for the public to learn more about the organisation. “there’ll be the chance to talk to committee members about the many benefits of Special Olympics, and also an opportunity to experience two of the sports we offer, in basketball and soccer.”

David said that central West team is a force to be reckoned with, having just performed outstandingly at the NSW State Special Olympics. “We’ve just returned from the NSW State Games in Shoalhaven, where 229 athletes from around NSW competed in 5 different sports: Swimming, tennis, Football, Basketball and Golf,” he said. “the central West had six athletes participate in basketball with Dean pallier, Keelan crawford, isaac Wilson, Kelsley manns, Siena Boland and Kane SpiritJones bringing home two gold, a silver and three bronze, which is tremendous results. “We would like to thank Orange city council and in particular cr Neil Jones and Ben Keegan for their help and support.” The open day commences at 9.30am at the PCYC Sir Neville Howse Stadium, this Sunday the 20th of May.
