Changing lives in Cheshire East

ABOUT US

The helpline was a lifesaver. I was fine 9-5 when he was at work. It was midnight on Friday that I needed support. I feel more confident now.”

Cheshire Without Abuse (CWA) is a charity working in the Cheshire East area. We support women, Cheshire men and children whose lives have Without Abuse been affected by domestic abuse. Changing lives in Cheshire East

The charity Cheshire Without Abuse was formally known as Crewe Women’s Aid and founded by the late Lily Jones in 1977. Since this time there have been many changes to our service. As a charity we have responded positively to these changes, however unfortunately the demand for our service continues to increase year on year.

Because I’m a man I thought no one would understand.”

OUR SERVICES Cheshire Without Abuse (CWA) operates from our Lily Jones Support Centre based in Crewe, Cheshire. It is from our support centre which we are able to offer and run our wide ranging therapeutic services. Including: • Support meetings • Recovery programmes for adults and children • Counselling • Drop-in sessions • Training • Change programmes for adults with abusive behaviours • Children and young people activities and programmes.

What can we do to help? We work alongside clients of domestic abuse to improve their lives. We offer safe, temporary crisis accommodation to women, men and children fleeing domestic abuse. We can offer a one-to-one support service which is there to provide aftercare to families who are re-housed within the local area, together with families already living in the community who are referred to us. We know that domestic abuse is a complicated issue and that there are additional pressures around housing, money and many other issues.

I don’t have to put up with abuse, a CWA made me realise that.”

CWA’s expert staff will guide you through your options, making sure that the safety of you and your family are the main priority. We can support you on the telephone, or arrange to see you at a neutral safe venue local to you.

It was hard to talk at first, but once I started it all came out.”

We operate a confidential service and will not share your information without consent unless there is a safeguarding need. We can work with clients still in an abusive relationship and those who have already left or wanting to leave. If you are in need of support please contact us.
