Barnes utilizes an exclusive design that provides simple pressure section gear width adjustments.

Special woodruff key slots in drive shafts are machined with a full radius to prevent cracking around keyseats.

Installing a proper dry sump oiling system requires more than just the proper pump. CV Products offers a comprehensive choice of components that are required and/or recommended:

Barnes installs a ball bearing in the center of the pump to support the driveshaft. The idler shaft is supported in the bore of the separator plate. No needle bearings are used. To improve the bearing surface, Barnes uses high-quality bronze idler gears, Precision ground stainless Steel Studs, and heat-treated chrome moly Steel idler and drive shafts.

Even with outside dimensions smaller than other pumps, Barnes’ pumps have a larger gear cavity to carry a greater volume of oil. This includes a very large internal cross port equivalent to a 1-1/8" diameter hole. The idler shaft is pinned to prevent the shaft from rotating, eliminating wear on the shaft bore in the end Housings.

The end plates are machined with T-slots to release oil trapped between the gears at the point of intermesh. The Barnes T-slots allow it to run smoother, quieter, and use less power.

Barnes 9025-Series BB Oil Pump

The 9017 and its derivatives have set the standard for professional racing dry sump oil pumps. This oval track series meets and exceeds the efficiency and vacuum requirements of today’s most demanding engine builders. Testing and customer feedback has proven that it is more efficient, uses less horsepower and draws an average of 2-5" more vacuum than any other gear pump available. Five-stage 9017 pumps meet NASCAR’s 9.5" o/a length limit and have been used by the past five consecutive Winston Cup champions, proving its greater quality, performance and reliability in competition! Available in custom applications.

The 9025-series Drag Race oil pumps are based on the 9017. Available with tighter tolerance gear sections and additional bearing supports, this pump is specifically designed for drag race engines like Pro Stock, Comp Eliminator, and P/S Truck. Used by both Pro Stock and P/S Truck champions, Barnes pumps are more reliable, easier to use, and achieve higher vacuum ratings than other brands!

NEW LIGHTWEIGHT OPTION

for qualifying or drag race applications only! Lightened drive and/or idler gears and gun-drilled idler shafts are available upon special request, removing 3 pounds or more from the net pump weight. This option is not available for endurance applications.

With their unique and simple modular design, Barnes dry sump oil pump components are interchangeable and easily adapted to most any dry sump application. Barnes and CV Products offer several standard body/gear widths and shaft lengths to assemble a pump to meet your requirements. CV Products and Barnes have also co-developed 3-6 stage special application pumps for customers in oval track, road racing, and drag racing. Examples include restricted volume dry sump oil pumps for qualifying and restrictor plate engines. Numerous mounting bracket options also allow you to interchange Barnes oil pumps on various small block or big block engine configurations.
