SENIOR DAY #1 Lexi Holsten

Hometown: Oshkosh, Wisconsin Parents: Kevin and Linda Major: Accounting Favorite CUW Softball Memory: It is definitely not easy to just pick one memory; there are so many of them! My favorite memory of a game would definitely be this last week when we SWEPT Aurora! I think I can speak for Carly as well when I say that beating Aurora was a goal that we have strived to accomplish every single year here at CUW and we are both so excited it finally happened! Aside from the games, my favorite memory with teammates would have to be the background behind my nickname, Cheech. Freshman year, Felicia Meyer and Melissa Perkins, two CUW Softball alumni, decided for some reason that I resembled a Chihuahua and they wanted to call me that from then on out. Eventually it got broken down into “Cheech” and has stuck every sense. My 4 years on the CUW softball team would not be the same without all of the weird, confused looks I received when people referred to me as “Cheech!” It was weird to get used to, but I find myself responding to that just as much, if not more, than “Lexi.” It has been an amazing four years and I’m going to miss this team, the coaches, and this sport more than anybody can imagine!

Lexi will be playing in her 149th and 150th games today. She has collected 160 hits over her four-year career. Lexi is a twotime All-NACC selection, landing Second Team in 2015 and Honorable Mention honors in 2016. She ranks fifth all-time in hits and second in doubles in program history.

#21 Carly Sobrilsky

Hometown: Brookfield, Wisconsin Parents: Todd and Ann Major: Nursing Favorite CUW Softball Memory: How can you sum up four years into one memory?! With all the great teammates I’ve had along with Coach Crook and Coach Steele, my time as a Falcon has been unforgettable! The Florida trips, the bus rides, the home games...I wouldn’t trade any of them for anything. I think one of my favorite games goes back to my freshman year when we were playing MSOE in the conference tournament. We were down by two runs with two outs in the seventh inning. Alyssa Robison and I hit back to back home runs to push the games to extra innings and we ended up winning. I remember coming back into the dugout and Jamie Schuh crying and giving me the biggest hug! That’s what CUW softball is all about, no matter what the situation, no matter what the score, we’re a team that never quits and never gives up! And this year, sweeping Aurora has been icing on the cake of a great senior season. I couldn’t ask for a better group of girls to finish out my time with and I will definitely miss seeing them at practice everyday, but I know that this group has great things ahead of them and I wish them nothing but the best!

Carly will be playing in her 157th and 158th games today. She has tallied 152 hits over her career and ranks second in program history with 23 home runs. After being named to the NACC All-Freshman team in 2014, Carly landed Second Team honors in 2015 and Honorable Mention recognition in 2016.

The Falcons will be honoring three other players who are likely concluding their careers this season. Juniors Emily Brekke, Christine Sharon, and Deidra Weinberger have played an important role in Falcons softball over the past three seasons. Emily has made an impact in the circle since her freshman and hasbecome one of the best pitchers in the NACC in 2016. She has two career no-hitters. She will be beginning Pharmacy school next year. Christine has served as a three-year starter in the infield for the Falcons. She was a Second Team and All-Freshman All-NACC selection in 2015. She will be graduating this spring after just three years. Deidra has served as the Falcons shortstop the past three years and posted one of the best seasons in CUW history in 2016, earning Third Team All-Region honors. She will be pursuing her MBA next year. Thank you to all five of these players for continuing to grow the CUW Softball Program!
