About your Cambridge National Health and Social Care course and qualification Working in the health or social care sector will bring you huge opportunities for a wide-ranging and rewarding career. The Cambridge National Health and Social Care course will help you to develop knowledge, understanding and practical skills that can be used in real-life situations within both the Health and Social Care sectors. You will learn about the attitudes, values and behaviours that underpin health and social care. You will explore how person-centred care gives people choice and control in their lives, and you will develop valuable communication skills. You will learn about the life stages, and you will build confidence and independence in practical skills, which will be useful for other life or work situations. Your Cambridge National in Health and Social Care can help you progress to other related study or the following apprenticeships: Adult care worker, Allied Health Profession Support, Health and Social Care, Healthcare science assistant, Maternity and Paediatric Support. How you will be assessed You have to complete three units from the four you are offered. Mandatory units • R032: Principles of care in health and social care settings. You will take a written exam for this unit. The exam lasts for 1 hour 15 minutes, and is worth 70 marks. The exam is set and marked by OCR. DRAFT • R033: Supporting individuals through life events. You will be given a set assignment with two practical tasks, which is worth 60 marks. Optional units • R034: Creative and therapeutic activities. • R035: Health promotion campaigns. For each of these optional units you will be given a set assignment with four practical tasks, which is worth 60 marks.
