WELCOME TO WORSHIP

CANTICLE

Go, My Children, With My Blessing — arr. Walter L. Pelz Go, my children, with my blessing, never alone; waking, sleeping, I am with you, you are my own. In my love’s baptismal river I have made you mine forever. Go, my children, with my blessing, you are my own.

Go, my children, fed and nourished, closer to me; grow in love and love by serving, joyful, and free. Here my Spirit’s power filled you, here his tender comfort stilled you; go, my children, fed and nourished, joyful and free.

The congregation is invited to sing: I, the Lord, will bless and keep you, and give you peace. I, the Lord, will smile upon you, and give you peace. I the Lord will be your Father, Saviour, Comforter and Brother; Go, my children, I will keep you, and give you peace.

THE LORD’S PRAYER

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. Amen. (Children, kindergartners through third grade, are invited to exit the Sanctuary for Children’s Worship. Children will return to reserved pews in the Sanctuary at the close of worship.)

†OPENING PRAYER

Grant us, O Lord, to trust in you with all our hearts; for, as you always resist the proud who confide in their own strength, so you never forsake those who make their boast of your mercy; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

†HYMN OF PROCESSION

#139 Praise to the Lord, the Almighty — LOBE DEN HERREN

†AFFIRMATION OF FAITH

We are not alone, we live in God’s world. We believe in God: who has created and is creating, who has come in Jesus, the Word made flesh, to reconcile and make new, who works in us and others by the Spirit. We trust in God. We are called to be the church: to celebrate God’s presence, to love and serve others, to seek justice and resist evil, to proclaim Jesus, crucified and risen, our judge and our hope. In life, in death, in life beyond death, God is with us. We are not alone. Thanks be to God. Amen.

†GLORIA PATRI

PRESENTATION OF BIBLES

We rejoice in this step in your journey with God. We pray God will guide you, your family, and us as you use this Holy Bible in your home, in your church school classes, and in our worship. We will learn together and grow in our love for God’s word.

WE HEAR THE WORD PROCLAIMED

SCRIPTURE — Luke 10:27

This is the word of God for the people of God. Thanks be to God.

†DOXOLOGY #95 Praise God, from Whom All Blessings Flow — OLD 100th

Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; praise God, all creatures here below; praise God above, ye heavenly host; praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

†PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING

Receive these gifts, O Lord. May they be magnified by your Holy Spirit to teach your children about your love, to show the world your grace, to bring healing to the broken hearted, to comfort the grieving, to embrace the needy, and to praise your name. We offer ourselves as instruments of your peace to the world. We offer our talents, our time, and our gifts to you. Use us as you will. Deploy us for your benevolence. Transform our hearts as we transform the world. We pray this in your Holy name. Amen.

CHILDREN’S MINISTRY

WORSHIP BAGS

You may have noticed the bright new worship bags when you come to church! These are located in the Reception Narthex, the Sanctuary Narthex, and outside of the Sanctuary on the east side in the stairwell. We create and offer these with children in mind – we know it’s hard to sit still so we wanted to give them tools to help them engage in the service and things to do with their hands while they listen. At the end of each service, we ask that you return the bags to one of the three stands around the church so they can be refreshed for the next week.

TOUGH QUESTIONS

OCTOBER 15 • 5-6:45 PM

“Where are the dinosaurs in the Bible? Are the people in the Bible real people? Why did my dog die?” Kids ask great questions about faith, but they are not always easy to answer! We are inviting parents to a night where Glenn Kinken and Kate May will help you tackle some of these tough questions of faith so that you can feel empowered to have great conversations with your kids. The evening will include dinner and table conversation. Dinner and activities will be available for kids at the same time so you won’t need to get a babysitter! Cost is $10/grown up, no cost for kids. Register now through Realm or by using the QR code.
