Upgraded New Ford Focus and Fiesta for Australia Ford Australia has declared official factory-supported Mountune performance upgrade kits for its Focus ST and Fiesta ST high-indemand hatches after around two and half years after they were introduced in Europe. The first Mountune performance products, which will be brought out by Ford Australia will enhance Focus ST’s output to 202kW of power at 5500rpm and 400Nm of torque at 2750rpm and Fiesta ST’s output would rise to a vigorous 158kW of power at 6000rpm and 320Nm of torque at 3000rpm. This is indeed a welcome upgrade for the Australian buyers for the most cherished Ford cars in the compact/small car segment.
That means, 18kW of power and 40Nm of torque increased on the 184kW and 360Nm, 2.0-litre turbo four in the Focus ST and 24kW of power and 80Nm of torque increased on the standard 134kW and 240Nm, 1.6-litre turbo petrol engine in the standard Fiesta ST. The Mountune- fine-tuned Focus ST’s outputs may drop somewhat from the ones having 257kW of power and 400Nm of torque, 2.3-litre turbo four in the forthcoming Focus RS AWD (and all 3 models will remain manual only), however, the good news is, it will be far cheaper compared to the Focus hyperhatch that has a start price of $50,990.
The Mountune kits will be available on the market from mid of the year while new Ford Licensed Accessory (FLA) program is established in Australia, which means they are supported by the Ford Express New Vehicle Warranty of 3 years or 100,000 km (whichever comes first) when fitted at the point of new vehicle sale.
The Ford Licensed Accessory (FLA) sold and fitted by an authorised Ford dealer to any pre-owned vehicle shall be covered for the rest of its new car warranty or the 12 months/20,000 kilometres Ford express parts and accessories warranty, whichever is longer. Though, the latter warranty would apply to FLAs that are sold over the counter by Ford dealers.
This new Mountune performance kits shall certainly bring more enthusiasm as Ford expands their performance vehicle line-up as part of the plans to introduce twenty new vehicles by 2020. The Mountune performance MP215 kit for the Ford Fiesta ST include high-flow panel air filter, revised engine calibration, a custom aluminium high flow airbox with dual cold air feeds, porous lower air feed hose, mTune handset for performance calibration and Mountune performance badge.
While the Mountune performance MP275 kit for the Focus ST includes revised engine calibration, high-flow dual-entry airfilter, a large-capacity alloy intercooler (black no logo), low-cost cast crossover duct (black), mTune handset for performance calibration and Mountune performance badge. The Mountune-kit fitted Fiesta claims to run 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds, which is two-tenths quicker than the standard Fiesta ST and speeds from 50 to 100km/h, which is seven-tenths faster in 5.7sec.
