BenjaminDanielson,MD,wastheseniormedicaldirectorforover20 yearsattheOdessaBrownChildren’sClinic,wherehecombinedpatient care,clinicleadershipandcommunityadvocacy.Danielsonserveson variousboardsofhealth-relatedorganizations,philanthropic organizationsandcommunitygroupsdedicatedtohealthissues.He chairstheGovernor’sInteragencyCouncilonHealthDisparities,cochairedtheGovernor’sTaskForceoncreatinganOfficeofEquity,chairs theGroupHealthFoundationBoard,isaboardmemberonKingCounty’s ChildrenandYouthAdvisoryBoard,andhasbeenonKingCounty’s BoardofHealth.
DanielsonwasamemberoftheWashingtonStateHealthBenefit Exchangeinthefirstseveralyearsfromitsinception.Heisonanumber oforganizationalboardsincluding:theUniversityofWashington Foundation,AmaraAdoptionandFosterCareServices,andtheCenter forChildrenandYouthJustice.Hehasprovidedmanyaddressesin numerousvenuesincludingtheUniversityofWashington’s CommencementAddressin2018.
TheunifyingthreadinDanielson’sactivitiesrelatestopromotingwellbeinganddignity,especiallyforcommunitieswhohavebeenpushed aside.Hehasfoundopportunitieswithinandoutsideofsystemsto advocateinpartnershipwithgroupsandindividualswhoarededicated andpassionateaboutcreatingabetterworld.Herealizesheistheleast usefulmemberofthecircleshejoins,andheisinspired–everyday–by thechildren,families,communitiesandorganizationswithwhomhe interacts.
Pediatricsandsupportingcommunities organizesanannualweekofeventsto celebratedifferencethatculminateswith ourHealthEquityLectureship.
