Welcome to Bikers Heaven. Welcome to CUBE. Liebe Mountainbike-Freunde,
Dear mountain bike enthusiast,
vor sechs Jahren wurde das erste CUBE Hotel eröffnet – das CUBE NASSFELD in Kärnten / Österreich. Mittlerweile gibt es 3 Standorte, die alle dieselben speziellen Features bieten und perfekt auf die Bedürf nisse von Mountainbikern abgestimmt sind: multifunktionale Aufbewahrungsräume für Bikes & Sportgeräte aller Art (die soge nannten Showrooms) sowie Rampen im Inneren des Hotels (Gateways), auf denen man mit dem Bike von der Lobby bis ins Zimmer gelangt.
Six years ago, we realised the first CUBE hotel – CUBE NASSFELD in Carinthia / Austria. For the first time, mountain bikers had a place that offered unique facilities and amenities specially created to suit their needs: multifunctional storage rooms – our “showrooms” – in which to store bikes and all kinds of sports equipment; and ramps to make transporting the gear up to the room a breeze. Today, these special features can be found at three CUBE locations: Savognin, Biberwier-Lermoos and Nassfeld.

Sprachlos in Savognin
Speechless in Savognin
Hätte ich das vorher gewusst! Ich war sprachlos beim Anblick der verträumten Landschaft rund um CUBE SAVOGNIN – und das passiert nicht oft! So richtig ins Schwärmen geriet ich am Nachmittag, als wir im NTC zwei Mountain Roller abgeholt haben. Der Sessellift brachte uns mitsamt Roller zur Station Tigignas auf 1.600 m Seehöhe! Von dort ist der Ausblick auf das Alpental einfach genial! Die Roller wurden inzwischen geparkt, um den Hochseilgarten zu erkunden – ein Tipp vom NTC-Guide! Hüftgurt anlegen, Helm aufsetzen und nach einer kurzen Einweisung geht es los! Ich muss zugeben, der Balanceakt von einer Plattform zur nächsten war etappenweise eine echte Herausforderung! Der Puls normalisierte sich wieder, als wir mit den Rollern den Berg hinunter gedüst sind! Mein Grinsen war bestimmt breiter als der Nil! Ich wollte nicht mehr aufhören, so lustig war die Talfahrt auf den Funsport-Routen! Nach so viel Abenteuer gönnten wir uns ein Dinner im à la carte Restaurant und fielen glücklich ins Bett. Am nächsten Morgen stand eine Radtour am Programm. Da meldeten sich Muskelpartien, die ich gar nicht kannte... deshalb ging es zum Entspannen zurück zum Badesee Lai Barnagn. Den Tag haben wir in der Lobby mit Plaudern und einem Tischfußballmatch ausklingen lassen. Am letzten Tag erkundeten wir die Umgebung zu Fuß. Mit dem eingepackten Lunchpaket setzten wir uns in die Wiese & genossen ein letztes Mal die Aussicht auf die Bündner Berge. In diesen Momenten sind Worte überflüssig – sprachloser Panorama-Genuss. Wieso bin ich nicht schon früher auf die CUBE Hotels gestoßen…?
If only I had known earlier! Just a glimpse of the idyllic scenery around CUBE SAVOGNIN was enough to leave me speechless – and that doesn’t happen every day! But it wasn’t until the afternoon that I really went into raptures, when we picked up two Mountain Scooters at NTC. The chair lift took us and the scooters to Tigignas Station at 1,600 m above sea level. From way up there, the view of the valley below is simply gorgeous! We parked the scooters and went to check out the ropes course – a tip from our NTC guide! We donned our sit harness & helmet and after a short intro it was off we go! I’ve got to admit, the balancing act from one platform to the next was at times a real challenge! My pounding heart calmed down a bit when we raced down the mountain on our scooters. The downhill run was so much fun – I bet my smile was as wide as the Nile! After the day’s adventure and excitement, we treated ourselves to dinner in the à-la-carte restaurant and, exhausted yet happy, hit the sack. The next day’s schedule of activities began with a morning bike tour. I felt muscles I didn’t even know I had... so to relax, we went back to the Lai Barnagn bathing lake. We capped the day in the hotel lobby chatting and playing table football. On our last day, we explored the surroundings on foot. We ate our picnic lunch in a field and just soaked up the alpine scenery one last time. At times like this, words are useless – speechless panorama enjoyment. Why hadn’t I heard about the CUBE hotels sooner?

Wer nur die anspruchsvolle Abfahrt machen möchte, fährt direkt mit der Bergbahn hinauf nach Somtgant. Geheimtipp: Imposante Hochebene von Radons.

Warum (und wann) hat Dich das Mountainbikefieber gepackt? Mit 16 habe ich über die Schule (Sportgymnasium) angefangen Cross Country zu fahren. Das wurde mir aber bald zu langweilig, sodass ich mich auf die Suche nach etwas Neuem begab. Der Dualslalom ist viel mehr meins! Ja, und dann war es zum Downhill und 4X auch nicht mehr weit…
Why (and when) did you become a mountain bike addict? When I was 16, I began to ride cross country at school (I went to a sports high school). But that soon became too boring for me so I started looking for something new. The dual slalom was much more my thing! Well, and from there it wasn’t a long way to the downhill and 4X.

Aber auch das heurige Schladmingwochenende war echt cool mit dem 2. Platz im 4X, dem Teamgesamtweltcupsieg und dem Teamtagessieg im Downhill mit Yeti (Anm. Bike-Marke) und das alles vor heimischem Publikum!
Your coolest / most important bike experience… That’s got to be winning the bronze medal at the 2006 4X World Cup – it was so absolutely amazing to stand on the podium at a World Cup! But this year’s Schladming Weekend was real cool too, taking 2nd place in the 4X, winning the team overall World Cup and taking the team stage win in the downhill with Yeti (note: bike brand) – all in front of a home crowd!

Eine nicht allzu schwierige Runde am Fuße der Zugspitze. Auf schmalen Wegen und Forststraßen fährt man hoch über dem Loisachtal über den Thörle. Über eine tolle Abfahrt gelangst Du zum Eibsee. Kurzweilige Abfahrten und schöne Rolletappen charakterisieren diese Genusstour.

Auf dieser fordernden Tour geht es hinauf zum höchsten Punkt, dem Marienbergjoch. Schöne, teils steile Abfahrt über Marienberg-Gipfelhaus nach Biberwier.

A not all too difficult tour at the foot of the Zugspitze, along narrow trails and timber roads high up over the valley of the Loisach and the Thörle. A fantastic downhill takes you to Eibsee lake. This pleasurable tour features a number of short downhills and beautiful rolling stretches. Insiders’ tip: Many beautiful mountain lakes for swimming.

Die Auffahrt auf die Tressdorfer Alm wird mit dem Lift abgekürzt. Es folgt eine sehr schöne Mountainbike-Tour mit Grenzüberschreitung nach Italien und einer kurzen Schiebepassage. Geheimtipp: Abstecher zum Alpenhof Plattern und eine leckere Frigga bestellen.

The ascent to Tressdorfer Alp is shortened by using the lift. This is followed by an extremely beautiful mountain bike tour with crossing of border to Italy and a short getoff-and-push.
Challenging bike tour along the Carnic Alps between Austria and Italy. After a long, flat warm-up phase of about 20 km, the tour really gets going. Push and carry in some sections.

CUBE SAVOGNIN „Das Hotel macht einen modernen und architektonisch durchdachten Eindruck. Die Zimmer sind groß und zweckmäßig eingerichtet. Toilette und Dusche sowie Wachbecken sind jeweils extra abgeteilt, was mit drei Kindern ein enormer Vorteil ist. Alles war sauber und für junge Alleinreisende sowie Familien sehr empfehlenswert. Es ist ein Sporthotel und bietet dementsprechend Vorkehrungen, die andere Hotels nicht haben, wie z. B. mitten im Hotel eine Rampe über alle Stockwerke, wo man z. B. seine Fahrräder hoch oder runter schieben kann. Außerdem besitzt jedes Zimmer einen Vorraum, mit entsprechenden Halterungen für Fahrräder, Ski u.ä." Rauf auf den Berg geht’s mit der Kabinenbahn Grubig 1. Die ersten Adrenalinschübe machen sich in der Phase der Vorfreude auf den an spruchsvollen Trail bemerkbar. Die Abfahrt bis zur Freeride-Strecke erfolgt über einen teils steilen aber gut befahrbaren Forstweg. Der Trail selbst startet auf anspruchsvollem Gelände über Wurzeln, Steine, Sprungschan zen und Brücken. Einem actiongeladenen Er lebnis steht also nichts mehr im Weg! Wer es nicht so wild will, kann einen der ebenfalls at traktiven Bikewege Richtung Lermoos wählen.
The ascent is “mastered” with the Grubig 1 gondola lift. But the first rush of adrenaline comes soon in the early parts of this very challenging trail. The way down to the free ride trail goes along a wellmaintained timber road with some quite steep portions. The trail itself begins in demanding terrain with roots, rocks, jumps and bridges. Nothing more stands in the way of an action-packed experience! For those who prefer something not quite so wild, there are a number of attractive bike trails towards Lermoos.
