CLASS SPECIFICATIONS
SPORT-HORSE COMPETITORS Each competitor is responsible for supplying management with the correct applicable numbers (USDF and USEF) for horses, owner, rider, and trainer, before the day(s) of the competition. The scores of competitors who fail to supply correct numbers may not be counted toward national awards.
HALTER IN THE RING PROCEDURES
Enter at a trot to the right, circle at the first cone, and continue to trot on the rail to the designated position. When all horses have entered, they shall walk, collectively, counterclockwise, and clockwise past the judge on a loose lead. Horses will return to the line and, one at a time, be presented to the judge. After the presentation, horses will return to the lineup and shall remain relaxed for placing. HALTER CLASSES SHALL BE JUDGED USING THE SCORING SYSTEM.
LIBERTY FREESTYLE
Open to ARABIAN, Half ARABIAN, and Anglo ARABIANS, two-year-old and older. To be judged on natural free movement, type, presence, animation, and carriage. Entry is at the owner’s risk. Entry will have 90 seconds alone in the ring: the horse will be turned loose to show liberty. When time is called, the horse must be caught within two (2) minutes, or it will be disqualified. Two (2) handlers per horse. Aids Allowed: whips no longer than six (6) feet in length. At no time, when showing, can the horse be touched by either the whip or handlers. Exhibitors are responsible for their own music.
WALK-TROT-JOG CLASSES
(See USEF Subsection AR-28) Open to riders 10 years old and under. As of January 1, 1995, a rider must never be judged in a class at a Licensed Competition that required a canter or lope. No cross entries into any other classes except halter and showmanship. Headers are permitted but not required. Appropriate attire for the riding discipline is required. NO STALLIONS.
HUNTER PLEASURE, HUNTER EQUITATION, DRESSAGE, AND SPORT HORSE UNDER SADDLE CLASSES. In Compliance with the 2009 Florida Statute, Section 773.06 “Helmet requirements; penalties…”
All minors 16 years of age or younger must wear ASTM safety headgear in any equine activity traditionally utilizing such equipment, including jumping and dressage. (This regulation applies to designated schooling and exercise areas as well as the show ring.)

STICK HORSE CLASS
Let’s have some fun!!! This class welcomes all stick horse breeds and colors. Participants (Young and Old) will display their riding skills and their horse’s versatility. Participants may bring their own stick horses or borrow one from DGAHA’s stable of talented, well-trained steeds for hire. Participants will be judged on the walk, trot, and canter.
ALL PROCEEDS FROM THE STICK HORSE CLASS WILL BE DONATED TO THE DGAHA YOUTH PROGRAMS.
Barrels, any class that is “Over Jumps,” Dressage, or Sport Horse. Classes may be designated with (but not limited to): Age or Age Splits (In some cases both age splits will need to be purchased). Minors who do not have a valid driver’s license which allows them to operate a motorized vehicle in the state in which they reside will not be permitted to operate a motorized vehicle of any kind, including, but not limited to, golf carts, motorcycles, scooters, or farm utility vehicles, on the competition grounds of licensed competitions. Minors who have a valid temporary license may operate the above-described motorized vehicles as long as they are accompanied by an adult with a valid driver’s license. The parent(s), legal guardian(s), or individual who signs the entry blank as a parent or guardian of a minor operating a motorized vehicle in violation of this rule is solely responsible for any damages, claims, losses, or actions resulting from that operation. Violations of this rule will cause sanctions against the parent(s), guardian(s), and/or trainer(s) who are responsible for the child committing the offense. Penalties may include exclusion of the child, parent(s), guardian(s), and/or trainer(s) from the competition grounds for the remainder of the competition and charges being filed against any of the above individuals in accordance with Chapter 6. Wheelchairs and other mobility assistance devices for individuals with disabilities are exempt from this rule.
