Types of graphics you can request Graph A system of connections or interrelations among two or more things by a number of distinctive dots, lines, bars, etc.1 Do you have an increase in productivity year to year? This would be well represented in a graph.
Map A representation of a whole or part of an area, usually describing spatial relationships on specific features.2 Do you have a project that has results across an entire country? Do you want to show MSI’s reach globally? These would both work well as maps.
Diagram A simplified depiction of the appearance, structure or workings of something3 Do you want to show the process of a certain approach? This would work well as a diagram.
Infographic An information graphic that sorts and arranges complex data, usually in a series of diagrams strung together. Words and images are paired.4 Do you want to tell a complete story with a beginning, middle and end? This would lend itself to an infographic.
Expressive Typography When the words become the visual. With expressive typography, there is a strong relationship between the words as a message and their visible form.5 Do you have one or two impactful statistics from your project? This would work well as expressive typography.

Improving the Quality of Life through Smarter Infrastructure In 13 Iraqi governorates, Tarabot improved infrastructure projects. For just one example in the Wasit governorate alone, 29 projects are completed or underway to help Iraqi citizens live better lives. The Wasit projects below show the breadth of daily life that has been improved. They range from under US$1m to build a school to US$500m to repair electrical networks. The Governorate of Wasit partnered with USAID-Tarabot early on and saw the benefit of modern project management systems, as it became the first governorate to adopt the processes widely.

Supporting USAID to Make Better Informed MONITORING & EVALUATION Programming Decisions 3A SUPPORTING PROGRAM OFFICES
Strategic Assistance in Transition
KENYA
MSI is providing critical assistance to USAID/Kenya’s strategy implementation and renewed emphasis on performance management in an increasingly tightened security environment. We have developed and facilitated mission events, trained and mentored staff, and conducted numerous monitoring and evaluation (M&E) assignments.
Developing Monitoring Frameworks in Uncertain Conditions
SOUTH SUDAN
Comprehensive Data Gathering and Analysis in a Difficult Environment
AFGHANISTAN
We have designed and piloted and are currently implementing Afghanistan’s largest-ever survey, conducting over 40,000 household interviews in semi-annual ‘waves.’ We established a comprehensive baseline to perform a quasi-experimental impact evaluation of USAID’s $250 million portfolio of stabilization projects. We also track and analyze stability trends in over 90 key districts. This knowledge is informing critical programming decisions.
We provide a range of critical M&E, verification and GIS services for a diverse portfolio totaling more than $4 billion. We supported USAID/Pakistan in collecting, analyzing and reporting data for performance management, helping to inform decisions on programming. Data-driven Decision Making Starting with Implementing Partners
JORDAN
In a country marked by violent division, we have supported USAID/South Sudan in the creation of an innovative new operational framework. We utilize “rich monitoring” to assist the mission to better respond to frequently changing conditions and provide a foundation for learning and adaption. In-Depth Analysis to Support the Peace Process
COLOMBIA
Results in a Complex Environment
PAKISTAN
.
We are producing a wide range of sectoral assessments, impact evaluations and performance evaluations to support critical mission decision making. We are conducting an innovative institutional assessment of government agencies critical to the peace process and informing an exit strategy.
Training for More Effective Aid Tracking
ETHIOPIA
We played a key role in helping the USAID mission to operationalize the new cloud-based AIDTracker system, an innovative tool that supports more effective indicator management and streamlines reporting. We also supported the first-ever Joint Portfolio Review between USAID and the Government of Ethiopia, which was designed to demonstrate the extent to which its country development cooperation strategy is aligned with the government’s growth and transformation plan.
As a result of a rapid assessment of the mission’s PMP implementation and data availability, we quickly transitioned from a focus on USAID staff capacity-building to one on implementing partners. An activity-focused performance improvement package combines trainings, templates and guidelines. It is producing results and preparing the way for design and rollout of the Mission’s first MIS/GIS.

2 Project lead meets with graphic designer to discuss and agree upon a schedule. 3 Graphic designer provides an initial draft for review. 4 Project lead reviews draft and provides feedback.* 5 Graphic designer provides final graphic. * Sometimes more rounds of revisions are necessary. Please incorporate time into your schedule if you anticipate more than one round of edits.
