VOLLEYBALL The Vikings will close

WOMEN’S SOCCER CSU had its season end with

the regular season with two home matches this weekend, as CSU hosts Loyola at 7:00 p.m. on Friday (Nov. 11) and Green Bay at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday (Nov. 12). With wins over UIC and Valparaiso last weekend, CSU clinched the No. 2 seed in the league tournament (Nov. 18-20) in Milwaukee. Kara Koch and Amy Grabiec posted CSU match records in the 3-2 victory over UIC last weekend, Koch tallying 35 kills and Grabiec recording 39 digs. Koch became the 14th Viking to record 1,000 career kills against Valparaiso, while Grabiec moved into second place on the CSU all-time career digs list against the Crusaders and currently has 1,418.

WOMEN’S SWIMMING & DIVING Junior Alice Sommerville took second in the 50

free (23.93) and third in the 100 fly (56.05) in addition to her role on the 400 free relay (3:34.99) team that placed fourth at the Ohio State Quad Meet on Friday (Nov. 4). Junior Joanna Olsson had three top-seven individual performances, topped off with a fourth in the 200 fly (2:05.23) as the Vikings fell to the host Buckeyes, Virginia Tech and Division III power Denison.

MEN’S SWIMMING & DIVING Competing for the first time since Oct. 22,

the men’s swimming and diving team ran into a trio of national powers at the Ohio State Quad Meet and went 0-3. Berry Thompson was just .11 seconds off the pace in the 100 free (45.79) and placed fifth in the 50 free (21.21). Sophomore Justin Kermack had three fifth place finishes and freshman Nathan Grant chipped in three top-seven finishes.

Men’s Soccer Hosts Horizon League Playoff Match The Cleveland State men’s soccer team takes center stage this week as

the Vikings open play in the Horizon League Championship with a first round match against Loyola at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday (Nov. 9) at Krenzler Field. CSU handed Loyola a 4-0 setback in the regular season behind three goals from Aaron Adkins. A win would send the Vikings into the semifinals on Friday (Nov. 11) against second-seeded Green Bay. The match would be played at Valparaiso. The Vikings won their only match last week, knocking off Detroit 2-0 at Krenzler Field on Friday (Nov. 4) night behind goals from Admir Suljevic and Jordan Hart.

WRESTLING The Vikings opened the 2011-12 campaign at the Eastern Michigan Open. Freshmen Andrew Brown (125), Michael Carlone (133) and Nathan Silvus (197) all placed fourth in the freshman/sophomore bracket of their respective weight classes. Carlone recorded wins via technical fall, major decision and two pins while Brown and Silvus each picked up their first pin of the year.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL After an 87-55 exhibition win over John Carroll on Tuesday (Nov. 1), CSU closes its exhibition slate with a 7:00 p.m. contest versus Case Western on Monday (Nov. 7). The Vikings then host Tennessee State at 7:00 p.m. on Friday (Nov. 11) in the season opener and Illinois on Sunday (Nov. 13) at 2:00 p.m.

MEN’S BASKETBALL The Vikings host John Carroll

on Wednesday (Nov. 9) at 7:00 p.m. in CSU’s lone exhibition game before heading to No. 7 Vanderbilt for the season opener on Sunday (Nov. 13) at 2:00 p.m. CSU returns four starters and two redshirts from last year’s team that went 27-9, won the Horizon League Championship and advanced to the second round of the NIT.
