Economic Development
The City of Coral Springs Economic Development Office (EDO) is committed to working closely with companies in the community to retain, grow and attract new business. They do so through community partnerships with organizations such as the Coral Springs Coconut Creek Regional Chamber of Commerce, as well as Enterprise Florida, the Greater Ft. Lauderdale Alliance, Broward County Office of Economic and Small Business Development, brokers, and developers.
The EDO website, www.CoralSpringsEDO.com, assists local businesses in making informed decisions and provides vital information to entities considering relocating to Coral Springs. Furthermore, a professional GIS software/web application has been installed, offering up-to-date demographic and labor force information as well as an online database of available industrial, retail, and office spaces based on user-defined criteria. The website features local businesses and highlights City attributes. The EDO is committed to investing in existing business outreach and marketing on multiple communication platforms to community and business engagement.

The Economic Development Office, the city, and the Property Owners of the Coral Springs Commerce Park Association also continue to work cooperatively to improve the 442acre Commerce Park of Coral Springs. The Commerce Park offers a scenic setting and direct access to major highways like the Sawgrass Expressway, Florida Turnpike, I-95, and only a short drive from all major seaports and airports. The Park is ideal for Emerging Technology, Logistics, Professional Business Services, Corporate HQs, Life Sciences, and Pharmaceuticals. In 2019, the EDO and the City completed an economic development strategic plan. The nine-month effort engaged residents, businesses and used the latest economic data to capitalize on the city’s human capital, physical assets, and market potential. The purpose of the strategic plan is to improve the business climate and promote businesses from within; establish a vision and define a value proposition for the Corporate Park, capitalize on regional strengths and infrastructure; align marketing and communications tactics with market opportunities for Coral Springs; and define specific geographical development priorities around the city. The activities and initiatives within the plan have been put into four categories (Business Climate, Municipal Functions and Leadership, Physical Environment and Placemaking, Marketing and Communications) and defined as low, medium and high priorities and short, mid and long-term efforts.
The City Commission approved a Development/Redevelopment Incentive Program in December 2021 to address functionally obsolete buildings and development/redevelopment opportunities. The program promotes the rehabilitation, development, and redevelopment of properties within the City to retain existing businesses and jobs through redevelopment and revitalization activities and create new jobs through new development.

The 442-acre Corporate Park of Coral Springs is located where the Sawgrass Expressway bends to the South/East between Wiles Rd & Sample Rd (aka Big Bend) – quick access to the Sawgrass Expressway through Sample Road or Coral Ridge Drive allows direct access to major highways.
The Corporate Park’s zoning attracts commercial & industrial businesses and it continues to be a significant diverse economic driver where major employers are located in the following sectors: Advanced Manufacturing, Emerging Technology, Logistics, Professional Business Services, Corporate HQs, Life Sciences and Pharmaceuticals.
The Corporate Park has license plate readers installed at entrances and streetlights are efficient LEDs. To further enhance the Park, The City of Coral Springs is redesigning the roadway surfaces to the south of 39th Street in 2021-2022. This Stormwater Project is 80% complete and is scheduled to be complete during Summer 2022. Development projects are planned for 2022 with a total of approximately 470,000 square feet of flex-space and large distribution warehouses. Several more development projects comprising approximately 150,000 square feet of self-storage space, flex space, convenience store/gas station/car wash with six fueling pumps and a distribution center with a café and Italian marketplace with frontage on Sample Road are being delivered in 2022.
The existing municipal Westside Complex is being completed in 2022 to be an overall campus master plan.
The Park continues to drive commerce and positively serves its local community - directly impacting the regional economy through the creation of jobs and contributing critical tax revenue. The Industrial sector - which makes up the majority of property uses - has shown resiliency and has fared well during 2021, and is expected to stay robust in 2022.
Redevelopment of functionally obsolete properties is the essential next step for even greater economic growth.

PASS UP PLASTICS IN COCONUT CREEK
The City of Coconut Creek is committed to creating and maintaining a sustainable environment. Reducing singleuse plastics not only has a positive effect on our local community but also on the global community. Discarded plastic items create litter which finds its way into our storm drains and waterways threatening our stormwater management systems and our wildlife.
Plastics are the most common type of debris found on our beaches, and in our oceans and waterways. The volume of plastic in our oceans is projected to out-weigh marine life by 2050. Often mistaken as food by fish and birds, plastic threatens the health of marine habitats and wildlife.
Pass Up Plastics is a community-wide initiative to reduce the use of single-use plastic items such as bags, beverage bottles, takeout containers, straws, and utensils. Plastics do not biodegrade but instead, slowly break down into smaller pieces called microplastics. It can take hundreds of years for plastic products to decompose as noted in the image below. The City has a goal of reaching 5000 pledges to Pass Up Plastics by residents and businesses, alike. Businesses that sign the pledge will be listed on the website and highlighted for their efforts. Visit the Pass Up Plastics website to sign the pledge and create a sustainable environment for tomorrow.
