A day at the beach is only a short drive away from Coral Springs, making it easy to enjoy South Florida’s warm temperatures and sunny days. But visitors and residents alike also have an array of recreational opportunities right here in Coral Springs.
Take, for instance, the Sportsplex Athletic Complex, home to numerous athletic facilities and the Sawgrass Nature Center. At the Aquatics Complex, swimmers will find two competition pools and a diving area for those serious about the sport. Other family members may be more attracted to the adjacent Tennis Center of Coral Springs or Panthers Ice Den.
You may find interest in the city’s annual Festival of the Arts, a fun-filled weekend event with music, dance, poetry and professional arts and crafts. The Coral Springs Center for the Arts brings in a variety of performing arts, while the Coral Springs Museum of Art hosts artists from around the world. The median age of Coral Springs residents is 38.3—which translates to families’ on-the-go. There is always something to do and somewhere to with 49 community and neighborhood parks located in Coral Springs alone. City favorites include the new tot lot at Sportsplex and the updated educational center at Kiwanis Park – also known as Safety Town. Amenities from the Cypress Water Park to jogging paths, tennis, and a competitive aquatics complex, offers an abundance of different sport leagues throughout the city. Many of our sports league programs rely on these parks and complexes to practice and compete. Upgraded turf fields, upgraded lights and signage make those who love soccer, basketball, baseball, tackle and flag football, cheerleading, futsal, softball, lacrosse and swimming an even more enjoyable past time.
Residents also enjoy sanctuaries set aside as environmentally sensitive lands. Both Red Lichen’s 13.9 acres and Sandy Ridge Sanctuary’s 38 acres are available at scheduled times for guided tours. The Sawgrass Nature Center and Wildlife Hospital gives residents and visitors an opportunity to learn more about our unique South Florida environment and its many wildlife inhabitants. Adjacent to the nature center is the Wildlife Hospital, which serves as a home to injured, sick and orphaned baby wild birds, mammals, and reptiles. These animals are given quality care, rehabilitation and then released back into the wild.

Parks and Recreation offers a variety of outdoor events, athletic leagues and recreation programs. Special Events is an opportunity for a leisure, social, and cultural experience that brings the community together. The city offered ongoing drive-in movies, movies-in the park and concert series. The 9th Annual ArtsFest was hosted by the Coconut Creek Multicultural Circle and the City of Coconut Creek on Saturday, September 25th. It featured a full day of cultural enrichment and entertainment for the whole family. Integrating the arts into our lives and our children’s lives.
The City of Coconut Creek Farmers Market is a bi-weekly market that occurs the first and third Saturday of each month from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The Market is located at the Township Plaza, the Southeast corner of Lyons Rd and Sample Rd, just east of Veterans Park. Products sold at the market include produce, bread, cookies, dips, sauces, honey, coffee, jellies, popcorn, dog treats, kitchenware and much more! The Halloween Drive N’ Treat event is where families drove their vehicles through a decorated Sabal Pines Park, trick or treating at various Halloween-themed stations from the safety of their vehicle The annual Harvest Festival (Saturday, November 20th), 5K Butterfly Run (Sunday, February 6th) and Butterfly Festival (Saturday, February 26th) are currently being planned. City-Run athletic leagues that are held outdoors are Youth Flag Football, Youth Soccer and Adult Pickleball Leagues. The Senior Expo provides attendees with access to local companies that educate and inform local seniors by providing the most up-todate resources, information, programs, and services available to them and their caregivers. This expo is geared toward residents 55 and over; however, the entire family is welcomed and it’s free to attend. City-Run athletic leagues that are held indoors are Youth Boys Basketball, Youth Girls Basketball, Youth Volleyball and Adult
Men’s Basketball.

A variety of recreation classes are offered at both centers. Activities range from arts & crafts, science, dance classes, toddler sport specific classes, holiday themed one-day events, summer day camp, Fun Days (camp day when kids don’t have school) and a middle school afterschool program. Special Needs Fun & Fitness is a program that includes a variety of fitness activities for individuals with special needs who are ages 18 and older.
