지리한 장마, 기대하고 기다리던 휴가와 방학이 함께하는 여름에 갤러리 잔다리는 이승현 작가의 <crypto-MUSEUM> 전을 준비하였습니다. 개성 있는 드로잉 작업으로 자신의 역량을 펼치고 있는 젊은 작가 이승현의 독특한 선묘들이 만들어내는 ‘미확인 생명체’ 들이 이번엔 서양 미술사 속의 명화들을 한자리에 불러 모아 우리 앞에 새로운 미술관을 만들어 놓았습니다. 작가는 우리에게 익숙한 명화들이 갖고 있는 서양미술사 안에서의 상징성과 의미, 작품과 미술관이 갖는 권력과 제도에 개입 하여 그 질서에 균열을 가하고 변형시켜 그 의미의 변질을 시도합니다. 작가의 붓 끝에서 무한반복하고 무한증식 하는 선들이 새로이 만들어낸 낯선 명화들이 걸린 기이한 미술관에서 우리의 머릿속 명화들을 끄집어내고 그들과 비교해보는 색다른 경험을 여러분께 청합니다. 김선희 (갤러리 잔다리 대표)
In this summer, a long, boring monsoon season but with expectations for holidays and vacations, gallery zandari has prepared an exhibition <crypto-MUSEUM> of the artist Lee Seung-hyun. Realizing his potential through his unique drawing work, the young artist Lee presents ‘crypto-organisms’ comprised of distinctive lines, putting together masterpieces of Western art and creating a new museum in front of us. The artist intends to disrupt and transform order and degenerate meaning by intervening in the symbol and meaning of the well-known masterpieces in Western art history and the authority and institution of artwork and museums. Gallery zandari invites you to this queer museum with strange masterpieces created from indefinitely repeating and proliferating lines out of the artist’s brush, where you can enjoy an eccentric experience to recall masterpieces in your head and compare them with the new creations.
