Fall Training Conference 2014: Welcome to the Department of Residential Life’s 2014 Fall Training Conference! Get ready to discover a new kind of leadership form that can help you build a strong community, communicate effectively with residents, and become the role model you were meant to be! This conference is designed to give you the skills and tools to perform at the top of your game. We want you to be the best student leader that you can be! It’s a new year and a new start to what will be an amazing fall semester. Leadership is the core of what we all do in our daily roles as staff so we wanted to present you a training that emphasized the importance of that student leadership. We hope we give you the support you need to do a great job in your role. Use the key below to help prepare for each training session. Each session is categorized by the following symbols. Hopefully these symbols will give you an insight into what the session will cover and what we hope you get out of the session. Residential Life Standards– Workshops geared to teach staff policies, procedure, and explanations of what it means to be a part of the Residential Life team. Student Staff Toolbox– Sessions intended to teach student staff members important skills that will aid in their development as a leader. Examples Include: mediation skills, helping skills, programming techniques, time management skills, etc.

Emergency Procedure– Sessions intended to prepare student staff for crisis management, safety protocol and emergency response.
