BEAUTIFUL SMALLER SHIPS

Over recent years, there’s been a trend in the cruising industry for ships to get bigger. But at Fred. Olsen, we are firm believers that smaller is better.

We are, and have been since 1848, a family-run business. And we are very proud to continue to fly the flag for the smaller ship experience.

That’s why we have three elegant smaller ships in our fleet and we work very hard to ensure that everything about each ship is beautifully designed and carefully done.

Life on board our ships is well known for a lovely feeling of warmth, friendliness, care and elegance. We are not ones for the resort-style of cruising,

Bolette

Bolette proudly bears the name of Fred. Olsen’s Great Grandmother who was married to Petter Olsen, one of the three brothers who founded the Olsen shipping business in 1848. Her portrait features today in The Morning Light Lounge.

Bolette was acquired by the Olsen family in 2020. Our interior design team and on board ships craftsmen gave her exterior and interior a complete overhaul to meet our exacting Olsen standards. She is now beautiful both inside and out, and we are very proud to have her as our fleet flagship.

Her crest was inspired by the harbour-side buildings in Hvitsten in Norway where the Olsen family had an early trading house on the picturesque Oslofjord.

we avoid cutting corners, and don’t ever want things to feel mass-produced. Having a maritime history and heritage, we refer to port and starboard, forward and aft, and we call cabins, cabins and decks, decks.

Each of our three ships have lots of wide-open deck spaces, a series of incredibly comfortable bars and lounges, beautiful restaurants, theatres, libraries and a wonderful art collection curated by Fred. Olsen, art being a particular passion of his.
