Key West
Cuba Bahamas Eleuthera
Exuma
Insider tip for sailing aficionados – on a new route to the most exclusive islands of the Bahamas and their lush underwater world: Miami – Miami
Stranded in paradise: Bahamas exclusive Coral reefs teeming with life and crystal-clear, shallow waters – what turns the Bahamas’ into such a beautiful paradise is also their most effective protection against too much tourist hustle and bustle: The waters around the Exumas are simply not deep enough for large cruise ships. On this new, exclusive route, you can enjoy the perfect combination of a casual beach and snorkeling vacation and a real sailing experience.
Insider tip Exumas No nosy neighbors, no paparazzi, but plenty of powdered sugar beaches – it’s hardly surprising that many celebrities have chosen the Exumas as their ultra-luxurious retreat. Big Major Cay promises a truly memorable encounter. Here, the famous swimming pigs paddle in the turquoise waters.
The colorful coral gardens of the Bahamas Seen from above, the Bahamas look like a watercolor painted with bold brushstrokes of white, blue and green. But just a few centimeters below the water’s surface, a world of even more dazzling colors opens up. Colorful surgeonfish, elegant rays gliding through the water with gentle wing beats, delicate sea anemones and corals in the most bizarre shapes – in the silence of the magical underwater gardens, you can just drift for hours.
Hemingway’s fun-loving Key West Key West is a world quite of its own: both Caribbean and American, lively and relaxed, historic and a little crazy. A thick buoy marks the southernmost point of the US mainland – from here, it is only 90 miles to Cuba. The historic Old Town of Key West is small but well worth a visit. Wooden houses gleam in pastel shades, an old lighthouse proudly soars into the sky, and Hemingway’s house is hidden behind green palm leaves – a museum that is home to some 50 cats.
