This month's Directions article comes from Professor Naiomi Metallic. Naiomi Metallic is an Assistant Professor of Law and holds the Chancellor’s Chair in Aboriginal Law and Policy at the Schulich School of Law,and practices law at Burchells LLP. Being from the Listuguj Mi’gmaq First Nation in Quebec, she was also the first Mi’gmaq person to be a law clerk at the Supreme Court of Canada. Along with holding a BA and LL.B from Dalhousie and being a proud IB&M Initiative alumna herself, she also has an LL.L from Ottawa and an LL.M from Osgoode. Her passion lies in harnessing law to promote the well-being of Indigenous peoples in Canada which she has shown and is showing through her legal practice, writing, teaching, and speaking.
