Robert McLauchlan owns and manages McLauchlan & Associates, Building Design Consultants which over 34 years has designed a wide variety of residential and commercial buildings. Most commonly known for their residential projects, the company has won numerous awards for renovations, individually designed homes and multi residential developments. Rob has been involved within the industry as President of the Building Designers Association of Victoria and Director of the Building Designers Association of Australia. In addition to his business, Rob is active in the not-for-profit world as Chairman of Habitat for Humanity, Victoria.
Mort has been a building consultant for over 20 years, where he has worked in arbitrations, building disputes pre-purchase and building reports, and all matters relating to building construction. As a Builder, Mort has been responsible for the construction of over 10,000 dwellings in Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland, and has been Managing Director of a major building company for forty years. He served as President of Master Builders Association of Victoria and was Victorian President (Housing) of the Federal Master Builders, and Housing Advisor to the Australian Government. In his time in the Air Force he trained as an engineer. Mort is an experience Arbitrator and Mediator and also appears as an Expert Witness at VCAT.
Dr Phil Alviano Dr Phil Alviano is considered a leading specialist in sustainability in the building and construction industry in Australia. As the Master Builders Association Sustainable Building Advisor, Phil advises practitioners in the domestic and commercial sectors on sustainability solutions and onsite environmental management. Phil’s extensive experience in education and training has informed the development of a unique nationally recognised construction Certificate IV qualification in environmental management and the national roll out of the accredited Master Builder Green Living program. He has worked on building and construction related projects for the last 13 years, including work as one of the environmental consultants on the Victoria to Tasmania natural gas pipeline link. His has also spent time working for the Environment Protection Authority Victoria, Melbourne Water and local government. Philip has a PhD in Ecology and land management, Masters of Environmental Science and a background in education.
Max Loche Max Loche has been at the forefront of Victorian home design for the past 17 years. After owning and operating his own design and drafting business, Max joined Metricon where he began as a Project Designer and quickly escalated to Project Manager – Developments, where he was responsible for the delivery of medium density product from concept to completion. A four year period as Victorian Products Manager at Burbank provided a stepping stone to his current position at Victoria’s leading builder Simonds. Today, Max acts as Products Range Manager, a position he has held for the past year. Superintending the Products Department and with offices in Queensland and South Australia, Max is responsible for Product Innovation and delivery of Product on all aspects of the business by the award-winning builder.
Charlie Hartup
Paul Chen
Charlie has spent 50 continuous years working within various sectors of the residential building industry. He gained both hands on and managerial experience in fields such as carpentry, joinery, prefabricated framing, building supplies, design, administration, energy rating and as a registered builder. Charlie sat on the Country Sector group and is a past chairman of Geelong & District section of Master Builders and still maintains a keen interest in all aspects of the association and all aspects of the building industry in general. The changing architecture of both individual and volume housing is an ongoing interest. Now officially retired, with Faye, his wife and business partner of 46 years, he enjoys managing and maintaining their property interests.
After obtaining double degrees from the University of Melbourne, Paul has spent considerable amount of time participating on both local and international projects, working across all facets of the building construction industry including Domestic, Civil, Commercial, Land Subdivision and Property Development in both Private and Public Sectors. Through his Career Paul has being appointed as Estimator, Contract Administrator, Project Manager, Client Side Project Manager, Senior Project Manager, Chief Estimator, Project Director and had held various Company Directorship. His most recent appointment had being Director at Johns Lyng Commercial Builders and Project Director at Shayher Group. Paul had recently started a new Development and Construction Consultancy firm P.I. Projects Group.
