Do Your Riggers Need to be Qualified? Yes in many applications. As of November 8, 2010 employers must use qualified riggers during hoisting activities for assembly and disassembly work (1926.140(r)(1)). Additionally, per 1926.1425(c), qualified riggers are required whenever workers: - Are within the fall zone, and - Hooking, unhooking or guiding a load, or - Doing the initial connection of a load to a component or structure.

Will Attending A Crosby Seminar Make Someone A Qualified Rigger? Crosby cannot make the determination of who is a qualified rigger, only their responsible employer can make that decision. Crosby offers Train the Trainer type courses, (in selected cities) to assist companies in their training efforts to qualify riggers in their employment. Crosby also offers a two-day Rigging Trainer Development course at no charge to full line Crosby Distributors and end users of our products. Day one is designed for those product users who need fundamentals of rigging only. Day two is designed for trainers or individuals that need more advanced information. Seminar materials received at no charge: - PowerPoint files for use by end user trainers in their classroom training on fundamentals of rigging using Crosby rigging hardware in conjunction with slings. - All day one attendees receive a certificate for attending the “Fundamentals of Rigging” class and successful day two attendees receive a certificate stating that they are authorized to use Crosby training materials for 48 months from date of issue. - Successful day two attendees also receive a certificate stating they have earned 1.4 “CEUs” - Authorization to purchase Crosby classroom training materials at discounted rates. - CD ROMs for computer based rigging training sessions.
