Novi Vinodolski is the centre of the Novi Vinodolski Riviera in the central part of the Kvarner region. The town grew out of the old fortification of the Frankopan family that carried the same name. In the year 2008 it celebrated 120 years of organised tourism. It is a town redolent of typical Mediterranean seaside architecture. There are a significant number of historic
monuments such as the walls of the Roman fortification of Lopsica, the remnants of the monastery of the Pauline friars, the Frankopan castle with a citadel, several small churches and others. One of the most outstanding cultural monuments which is also one of the most important documents in medieval Europe, is the Vinodol Code dating from 1288 which also originates
from this area. For most people, it is the wonder of nature, preserved environment and developed tourist industry which make the town and the whole Riviera interesting. Airport: Rijeka, 25 km (the island of Krk)
