BYU TVI TRANSMITION 23
BYU TELEVISION INTERNATIONAL Over the past year, BYU Television International has become far more than BYU TV in Spanish and Portuguese. It has expanded far beyond that which could have been imagined five years ago, while simultaneously catapulting careers, discovering cultures and inspiring lives. Moving into the new broadcasting building at the end of 2010 was just part of the incredible expansion BYU Television International has experienced since its founding in 2007. Since then, it has received one Emmy award, three Telly awards and five Ava awards. In order to continue its expansion, reaching a larger audience and diversify content, the BYU TV International team has decided to focus on attaining relevant and compelling content through original productions and content acquisitions. Through the talents, focus and hard work of its team, BYU TV International was able to double the amount of original production content hours from the previous year. Within the area of transmission, BYU Television International was recognized as the fastest growing channel in Latin America, with 6.1 million households viewing the channel in only five years of transmission. We hope that by marketing its diverse and uplifting content, the channel will continue to expand to homes throughout the world. The influence of BYU Television International, however, reaches far beyond household numbers and content hours. The influence of the channel can be seen by the opportunities the channel has created for viewers and as well as employees. Much of the new content focuses on improving the living conditions of our viewers, through “how to” programs, and educational programs and documentaries. These types of programs have helped catapult viewers into better careers and opportunities by providing them with the means, information and desire to do so. The channel is also emitting tomorrow’s leaders in business, government, and media. From broadcasting majors to economic majors, the channel is helping student employees prepare for success in future careers by equipping them with good work ethics, a healthy work environment, and the ability to create, produce and carry out vast projects. BYU Television International is also supporting and contributing to the discovery, and often times re-discovery, of cultures, specifically Latin American cultures. By creating and acquiring content that focuses on the grassroots of various cultures, it is creating the opportunity to learn about and gain respect for various cultures. BYU Television International is also inspiring the lives of people across the world by broadcasting content that is uplifting, motivational and personal. We inspire the personal lives of our viewers and employees, as well as inspire transmitting companies throughout Latin and South America. We hope to spark new movement in media that seeks to educate and inspire while still entertaining. Through your vision and generosity, opportunities have been created, ideas have become realities, and BYU Television International has become far more than was ever expected. A simple thank you cannot express nor suffice the gratitude felt by employees, distributors and viewers. Therefore, on behalf of millions you have influences and aided via BYU Television International. We would like to say, Thank you, Gracias and Obrigado.

That wouldn’t be possible without the channel. I would like to say that it means a great deal in the lives of the Saints that are in distant places.” Antonio Carlos de Sales - Brazil
