Volunteers, clubs, associations and community organisations do an outstanding job to ensure cricket is able to thrive at the grassroots. Cricket Victoria wants to recognise those that provide a significant contribution to cricket and allow the whole community to be involved in the game we all love. This is the inaugural year for the A Sport For All Awards – Victoria, that we are excited to share with you all. The awards look to recognise those who make cricket an inclusive environment for everyone, regardless of their gender or background. Those who embrace diversity and provide a high-quality experience, to ensure cricket is a sport for all Australians. We look forward to receiving nominations from the entire Victorian cricket community, and recognise and share the great achievements. TONY DODEMAIDE CEO - CRICKET VICTORIA

W O N G A PA R K C R I C K E T C LU B NATI O NAL J U N I O R C R I C K E T P R O G R A M O F TH E YEAR | 2016/17 The Wonga Park Cricket Club is on the fringes of the eastern suburbs of Melbourne, surrounded by bush land, farms and low density housing and its community is very diverse. The clubs work to integrate a girls only team and create an under 18 side to help junior participants transition into senior cricket, were key reasons behind their selection for the Junior Cricket Program of the Year. At the start of the 2016/17 season the girls only team had seven participants, but peaked at 14 throughout the year. The club organised girls with appropriate clothing and appointed coaches. It has a strong focus on diversity and inclusion, and looks to welcome everyone. Ash Parker said that the award highlighted “how as a community we work together to include everyone, we want the whole family to be part of the cricket club and create an environment that encourages this.” We hope to see many more great nominations such as Wonga Park Cricket Club’s for the A Sport For All Awards – Victoria. Congratulations again to Wonga Park Cricket Club.
