Tenor Luciano Lamonarca to Perform with UN Symphony at Lincoln Center, 4/15 Back to the Article

by BWW News Desk The acclaimed Italian Tenor Luciano Lamonarca, recently established in New Rochelle (Westchester County, NY), has been invited by the United Nations Symphony Orchestra as a special performing guest at their Spring Concert. The performance will take place on Monday, April 15, 2013, at the Merkin Concert Hall (129 W 67th Street near Broadway) at 7:30pm. The orchestra will showcase the rich talents of the UN community, performing some of the most popular classical works of various periods. Tickets are $15 and can be bought directly from the Merkin Hall's box office. He will be performing the aria "E' la solita storia del Pastore", from the opera l'Arlesiana by Francesco Cilea. This emotional and dramatic aria was at the heart of repertoires of the most famous and greatest operatic tenors, such as Mario Lanza, Mario Del Monaco, Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo, Jose Carreras and many others. Tenor Luciano Lamonarca was born in the Puglia Region of Italy and studied with such teachers as Gino Lorusso Toma, Franco Corelli, Carmen Sensaud and Salvatore Fisichella. He performed in many countries around the world, with preponderance in the United States and Europe, and under the patronage of the highest national and international institutions, as The United Nations, The European Union, The Presidency of the Italian Republic and The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. October 2010 and in Carnegie Hall, on 14 of December 2010. Particularly important were his concerts in the United Nations General Assembly, at the prestigious Palais Liechtenstein Museum, in Vienna and at the Teatro Politeama in Palermo. In Germany, he performed at the Fourth edition of the "Europaishes Jugend Musik Festival" in Passau, in a concert dedicated to Giuseppe Verdi. In March 2009 he released his first album entitled "Mamma", and in January 2012, he released his new Album "The Impossible Dream", an outstanding compilation of Italian operatic arias and American pop-operatic hits, made in partnership with The New York Choral Society. Part of the proceeds from each song sold until December 31, 2012, were donated to the Mini Maestros Program.
