H U N DR E D Picture the infamous Boxing Day ‘horizontal marathon’. No, you naughty thing, not that kind of marathon. On December 26th, we opened our living room sofa bed and watched an array of Disney-related bonanza. As we were browsing and deciding over the next film for our marathon, we came across the latest Pixar movie, Soul, and we decided to give it a go. The protagonist is Joe, a middle-school band teacher whose life hasn't quite gone the way he expected. His passion is jazz, and he is still waiting for his big break. Yet, it won’t be until he travels to another realm to help someone find their passion, that he discovers the true meaning of purpose. The movie posed as a great reminder of an invaluable lesson in life: don’t spend your days obsessing over the future, or you’ll end up missing what is right in front of you. I could see myself a lot in Joe: constantly working on what is next, saying to myself “once I get to XYZ I will be happy”. Honestly, I thought that’s what people who start

their businesses say all the time, and then one day, after a couple of years, a flip switch and you eventually got it. You can stop obsessing over your purpose and reap the benefits by grasping that elusive happiness we all so desperately look for. Eight years in, I came to the realisation that life is shorter than we all think. As Joe rediscovered the unadulterated happiness coming from connection, family and child-like wonder, it became painstakingly obvious that so many of us live in a world full of targets. Deadlines. End goals. These can be great ways to keep us accountable, motivated and inspired. Yet, when life becomes an endless rat race we lose sight of what we already have that makes life so incredible in the first place. What if we were able to fill our lives with passions, yet left space to be more passionate about the little things that make life magical? As we approach a new year filled with hope, I challenge you to open up to the idea of what things could be if we reframed the way we want to lead our lives going forward.

VEGANUARY | GLOBAL

Plant-based campaign sets target of 500,000 signatories worldwide. Organisers of Veganuary are gearing up for their biggest ever year since the meat-free pledge was launched seven years ago, thanks to a surge in consumers tucking into more plant-based foods during lockdown and greater concern about health and the environment. Matthew Glover said: “When my wife Jane and I decided to launch a new year’s vegan pledge in 2014 we expected only 1,000 people to take part. More than 3,000 signed up and we were blown away. Now Veganuary is a bigger feature in the retail calendar than Christmas, reflecting the everincreasing number of people choosing plant-based food. One million official Veganuary participants in just seven years is a huge achievement, but the momentum behind the plant-based revolution will see us hit two million in no time.” THE VEGANUARY PLEDGE Take the first step today! Mum asks schools for better vegan-inclusion

April Preston, director of product development for Marks and Spencer food, said the retailer is expanding its vegan range to coincide with Veganuary. “As the proud owners of the UK’s number one vegan own label, Plant Kitchen, we’re getting super excited about Veganuary. This year we’re sharing the sign-up links with all our colleagues, encouraging them to give Veganuary a go.” Marco Settembri, the chief executive of Nestlé said: “A well-planned plant-based diet can meet nutritional needs during all stages of life while there are environmental and health benefits too. This year I am passing the baton and encouraging all employees to participate in Veganuary and sign up to the challenge. I am happy to be part of this movement as it grows across Europe and beyond.” Other businesses taking on Veganuary’s Workplace Challenge include Wagamama, Tesco, O2, e.l.f. Beauty, King's College London, Docusign, Hastings Direct, Givaudan, Ecotricity, Deliveroo and Upfield, owners of Flora Plant and Violife.

One vegan pupils’ mum has launched a campaign to get schools to take vegan-inclusion seriously. Vegan pupils are registering their schools to receive a pack in January explaining what vegan-inclusion is, why it’s important, and easy steps to make things better. 400 schools have been plotted in the 2 weeks since the campaign launched. Ruth Jenkins’ realisation was that for hundreds of vegan pupils across the country they are often the only vegan in a school that doesn’t understand them.

TikTok is taking the pledge SOCIAL | GLOBAL

TikTok sensation Tabitha Brown is the star of a humorous new Veganuary advert. It shows Brown – who has 4.5 million followers on TikTok and was named one of the platform’s top 10 creators of 2020 – encouraging people to take part, even if they are worried they won’t be ‘perfect’. The ad shows Brown doing Veganuary, and ticking off the days on her calendar with smiley faces. Each day, she is shown eating vibrant, interesting vegan food options. A must-watch for sure.

Vegan hall of fame CELEBRITIES | GLOBAL

Veganuary is getting loads of support from a variety of big personalities this year. Rock stars Brian May, from Queen, and Meatloaf were among last year’s participants. This year, celebrities have signed an open letter urging the public to go vegan. The letter has been published by Veganuary, a charity that encourages people worldwide to try a vegan diet for the entirety of January. Comedian Ricky Gervais, Sir Paul McCartney and naturalist Chris Packham have also signed it. This year, the charity believes that the number of people who have taken the Veganuary pledge without actually signing up could be ten times greater. Philip Watson, Quorn’s UK and Europe commercial director, said: “we aim to get closer to our 2030 target of 8bn meat-free servings a year worldwide.”

Wagamama vows to cut meat offerings by 50% BUSINESS | UK

The Japanese restaurant chain has vowed to cut meat from its menus by 50 percent within the year, for it's 150 restaurants despite the COVID-19 restrictions in the UK. The restaurant group unveils its new vegan menu in line with Veganuary, the month-long pledge to adopt a vegan lifestyle. The company hopes by introducing plant-based versions of cult dishes Chili Squid, Firecracker Curry, and Grilled Duck Donburi, they can entice even the most stubborn of meat-eaters. The launch is part of its ‘small choices, big change’ campaign in response to the growing climate crisis.

I know first hand how hard it can be to regain body confidence after children, and that now as I head into peri-menopause some of the symptoms can leave you feeling very overwhelmed and anxious. I am determined to help women reach and achieve their fitness goals, so they can stay strong mentally and physically. I want to encourage them to see how diet and exercise can make a positive impact on how they feel, and for them to gain an understanding of how mind and body work together, so they truly appreciate what they are capable of regardless of shape, size or age. CONTEMPLATING WITH CHARLOTTE

What can Blue Monday teach us about wellbeing Contemplating Winter psychological wellbeing

H

ave you heard of Blue Monday? Nope, it’s not another word to describe the start of the working week that comes our way after a sleepy, peaceful Sunday. Blue Monday falls on the third Monday in January every year and is the most challenging of Mondays for our psychological wellbeing. On Blue Monday, the combination of post-festivity comedowns, dark winter nights, and the challenges of financial instability after an expensive December culminate, erupting in a cloud of low mood. We may experience faster burn-out, changes in sleep, mood, low energy, a lack of motivation to carry out regular activities. These changes can be managed effectively using self-care strategies. However, should you experience significantly impaired daily functioning or worsening of symptoms, I encourage you to seek guidance from a mental health professional. Keep to a routine A routine, once established, will enable you to maintain a sleep cycle, and balance your work commitments with self-care, boosting your overall motivation. Get out your planner and break your day into one-hour slots, scheduling your main goals, tasks for the day, as well as regular breaks for movement. As you complete your tasks, cross them off and big yourself up for doing something productive, no matter how small or large. Use light therapy Light therapy is useful for anyone who feels tired or experiences low mood during the winter months. Light

12 | CREATIVE IMPACT MAG

therapy involves sitting in front of a lightbox, which simulates natural sunlight, for 30 mins to an hour every morning and early-evening as needed. Light therapy acts by increasing the amount of serotonin (a hormone that impacts your mood) whilst decreasing melatonin (a hormone that can induce tiredness). Schedule in socializing In winter, we retreat into our rooms, rarely reaching out to one another as we move from desk to bed. Something which helped my friends and me during the winter lockdown was scheduling social time. We’d set a date and time, and either meet for a walk or give each other a call. We'd check in once a week and have a catch up on life, love, and everything in-between. Journal it down “In general, winter months I can’t recommend can put a strain on our journaling enough. mental resilience, erupting Never underestimate the power of putting in a cold of low mood.” pen to paper, exploring your thought patterns, emotions, and daily actions. Start by reflecting upon your day, asking yourself what emotions did you express? Were there any challenges, and if so, how did you overcome them? What can you learn from today, and what could you improve upon? Above all, keep in mind that winter is a trying time for everyone around you. Extend your loving-kindness and compassion to all this winter including yourself. @charlottesophiewrites

Anti Diet Riot Club @antidietriotclub

Harri and Becky are the founders of the Anti Diet Riot Club. They have founded the first radical community and platform dismantling ‘diet culture’, body shame and fat phobia whilst also educating people on how to accept and look after their bodies regardless of size or weight.

Q&A Anti Diet Riot Club (ADRC) Where did ADRC begin? Becky – I came up with the idea for ADRC at the end of 2017 after my own life and mindset were changed through the body acceptance movement I had discovered online years before. I was going through a difficult breakup and I wanted to create an IRL community around me, one that was free of diet chat or calorie counting, and with a background in events, I thought setting up a group would be the best way to do this. Our first event in March 2018 was with Megan Crabbe and over 100 people came! Harri and I joined together later that year initially to help take some radical, body-positive workshops to festivals which we both love – but since then we’ve been growing and adapting and hopefully improving ever since. How are your personal stories weaved into the ADRC as it is today? Harri – both Becky and I have similar experiences of growing up not thinking we were thin enough and consequently going on every diet

under the sun. I ended up with binge eating disorder but I didn’t recognise it as an eating disorder. We both felt out of control and miserable. And when we were at our thinnest, we were also the most messed up in the head. We both got to a place where we had completely lost our connection to our bodies and had a very messed up relationship with food. Our journey to healing ended up being pretty similar too. We both hit a ‘dieting wall’, where something in our heads was saying ‘stop!’. Then we were lucky enough to find the body positivity movement (as it was back in the day, not co-opted by diet culture as it is today). Everything we do is influenced by how much we used to hate our bodies and fearing food – and fatness. We know how much diets can steal the joy out of life – and all the life experiences that are easy to miss out on when you don’t feel good enough. We’re living proof that you don’t have to reach a goal weight to be happy.

Rachel Evans

Q&A Rachel Evans How are you making an impact online? I hope that it’s encouraging people to have a healthier relationship with food, their body and themselves. My content has always been focused on health, but it’s changed focus in the past few years from promoting ‘health’ as something that can be achieved through diet and exercise, to developing a healthy mindset so that you can

make those things an enjoyable, rather than guilt- or anxiety-provoking, part of your day. I also like to run free challenges in my Facebook group to help people apply any eating disorder recovery tips. What are some of the lessons you learned? I could have put myself forward for more opportunities if I believed in myself more and wasn’t

24 | CREATIVE IMPACT MAG

@rachel.evans.phd scared for someone to say “No”. Now I realise how important it is to be your own cheerleader; even if sometimes it feels a bit cringey sometimes. My biggest achievement was being able to say goodbye to my blog Healthy & Psyched (which I had for almost 5 years) and set up a new website which is more aligned to what I am doing now. Who is one person who lifted you up? My husband who has been with me through the upsand-downs of having an eating disorder and recovering. He encouraged me to start my blog and travelled all over the country with me to lifestyle shows and blog awards. I know that he doesn’t always understand when I am talking to him about my business now or the psychology of eating, but he’s there to support me.

Rachel is a psychologist (PhD) and her mission is to help eating disorder suffers to regain hope and achieve FULL recovery. The content on her social media and blog is designed to help you begin to question if how you’re eating, exercising and/or thinking about your body is making you truly happy, and how to move forwards. She also works closely 1:1 with clients to change their mindset and behaviour through coaching, hypnotherapy, nutritional interventions and holistic support.

EVERYDAY MENTAL HEALTH SOS SELF-ACCEPTANCE We often have so many ‘shoulds’ in our heads. How we ‘should’ look, how we ‘should’ be spending our time and how many of our goals we ‘should’ be hitting. Remind yourself that you are worthy exactly as you are right now.

CONNECT With the pandemic, it’s been a lot harder to meet with friends and family in person but it’s so important to connect with others in any way we can. That might be a text, a phone call or maybe a video chat. No matter which it all counts!

SWITCH OFF There’s so much pressure to be productive that often our downtime can become work. It’s important to take time each day to completely relax and unwind. Perhaps reading a book, listening to music or watching a TV programme. No guilt attached!

SERVES 1 PORTIONS

Lazy Boy Oats By Calum Harris PREP TIME 10 mins | EQUIPMENT Bowl, spoon (optional)

This idea is undeniably a great one. Born out of being lazy one morning, I essentially wanted a bowl of overnight oats but didn’t want to wait the whole 8 hours for breakfast. And so, this beautiful LAZY BOY bowl of oats was created, and can be made in 10 minutes.

INGREDIENTS • 40g porridge oats • 150ml plant milk (oat, almond, soy, whatever you want) • 30g protein powder (please use macros from Form Nutrition) • Blueberries • Strawberries • Pecans • Flaxseed, hemp seeds • Biscoff spread

26 | CREATIVE IMPACT MAG

DIRECTIONS 1 | Mix the oats, milk and protein powder together in a bowl. The consistency should be like a bowl of cereal, but ensure the oats aren’t drowning in the milk. Leave to the side for 10 minutes. 2 | Once the oats have soaked up the milk, top with any toppings you like. On this bowl are blueberries, strawberries, pecans, flax & hemp seeds and some Biscoff spread (cheeky I know). 3 | Eat before someone asks if they “can try a bit”.

Q&A Elle Linton What content can we expect from you? I’m pretty aware of the jack of all trades, master of none saying so I try to instill this in my content. Over time, as I’ve found the activities that I’m passionate about for my own training and for coaching, those have become the pillars for my content. Currently I focus on ways to move, food and athleisure. However, I have slightly broader

categories on my blog than say, Instagram. How do you make a positive impact online? I would like to think that I’m here as a cheerleader for anyone who wants to become active. In the sport & fitness world, there is a stark lack of diversity both in gender and race. ‘You have to see it to be it’ - there is very little representation especially in sports like cycling, or in the fitness influencer world, I’m prepared to stand up and be the representation younger women need to see. What have you learned along the way? Recognise is that learning is always possible no matter how successful you are.

32 | CREATIVE IMPACT MAG

Some of my biggest achievements are the creation of a community for London based Digital Creators and Influencers, creating content during my two years of MSc study and making it to 8 years of blogging without giving up! Who has helped you in your journey? I think there have been too many people to mention with so much help from creator communities who

are always willing to help others. As a CI member what have you been enjoying the most? I’ve massively enjoyed the various masterclasses that have been available. Some have been great for learning completely new skills whilst others have been a kind of refresher but either way, I always come out of them feeling positive and inspired to take action!

spending what you do have is only going to make the situation worse. There is a lot of BS out there in Law of Attraction books etc that say spending money creates more money. This is only true if it feels good to spend the money if you go and mindlessly spend money you shouldn’t really be on luxuries, is that going to make you feel happy or actually more anxious now that you have even less for the month ahead. How can people be more mindful with their spending? If the answer is no then put it back and wait, see how you feel about it in a week or so or when you next get paid. If it’s a yes and it feels good to buy it then you will naturally attract more money to you through these good feelings with every transaction. The same can be done with a service or online product. Ask yourself these questions and be honest with yourself.

@mamalinauk Emma Ross is the mother and blogger behind MamalinaUK the parenting, slow living and sustainable platfomr. She is passionate about dungarees, veg, coffee and cloth nappies.

Where did your passion for low waste living for the family start? My passion for low-waste living sprung up when I was at an antenatal class, during a conversation about nappies. They teach you how to put nappies on a child or baby, and the teacher at the end shoehorned in this little bit about reusable nappies. In my head, I thought...that makes loads of sense and that sounds really interesting to me. It was through the environmental impact of nappies that I first became interested in this new kind of parenting. A bit differently I guess, a bit more sustainably. How can new mums change their mindset around 'stuff'? When you have a new baby there’s this expectation that you need to get so many new things. As you fall pregnant, you supposedly have to get new maternity clothes, yet there is so much you already own you can truly use: “I think I bought one or two pairs of trousers and they’ve lasted me through all three pregnancies and everything else I just wore what I had. So much of what you already own is absolutely fine. Most of my kids’ favourite clothes are the ones that my mum kept from when we were younger.

of your friends or family hesitant about your lifestyle choices? I transitioned to a vegan lifestyle in 2016 when I made the connection of the torture that innocent animals endured for my five minutes of pleasure. My belief is that nonhuman animals have the right to life and so I stand against animal cruelty. My decision did come as a shock to my family, who thought it was a phase and would often try to tempt me with non-vegan foods. However, after over four years of veganism, some of my family members have adopted a more plant-based diet themselves which is great, and I’m happy that they could do so at their own pace.

What does being "vegan" mean to you? Veganism for me, is a way of life. It’s a lifestyle choice. I want to stress the word choice here as it is a decision that is made on an individual level. It’s not that I can’t eat animal products, it’s that I have made a conscious decision not to, based upon my beliefs. And this is a decision that I am happy with! Also, veganism extends further than just diet and filters down into the clothing, cosmetics, and products that I buy and organisations that I support. For me, veganism gives me this feeling of oneness with all, with the animals, our environment, and my health.

CAMILLE KNOWLES

FOUNDER SERIES

Leading a Tribe of Skin Warriors

C

With Camille Knowles

amille Knowles is the best-selling author and founder of The Beauty of Eczema™. The brand was created to provide a positive community and beautiful products for sensitive skin warriors. I believe that those with sensitive skin deserve to live a GLOWING life with BEAUTIFUL products (after feeling it was a negative place online and the products available were very limited and plain looking). Living with a sensitive skin condition isn't easy, and the Beauty of Eczema™ was created to brighten and uplift warriors each day and provide high-quality products to put the fun back into pampering when living with sensitive skin. My eureka moment It was when I came out of the hospital in 2013, unfortunately, due to severe eczema flare-up. I decided at that moment, if I managed to recover, I would write a book to share my experience and give HOPE to millions of people around the world. Which in September 2018 I did! The first seed of the skincare range idea was back in 2009 at age 17 when I realised there weren’t any beautiful products suitable for sensitive skin and compatible with those that are eczema-prone. I always had in mind to follow the launch of my book with products to make life more fun and beautiful for my warrior tribe. That’s why the Journal, Affirmation cards, cookbook, and skincare were developed. The brand idea was always in my mind and when the timing was right, I decided to pursue my journey …and here we are!

50 | CREATIVE IMPACT MAG

Validating the idea After searching online and seeing millions of people ‘suffering’, I wanted to be a voice of positivity and HOPE. The voice I needed! The failure I am glad I experienced I believe in making mistakes every single day, it’s the best way to learn. I can’t define one failure. Fail forward is what I believe is the best approach in business. Saying that I have a fantastic team of experts I am honored to work within creating such a high quality and trustworthy brand.

3 TOP TIPS FOR...

ANYONE STARTING A BUSINESS BELIEVE IN YOURSELF!

One of the hardest parts of a business can be believing in yourself and your idea enough to start.

NEVER GIVE UP

Biggest advice you’d give to someone I honestly can’t think of anything. I don’t focus too much on what other people are saying. I do my research; I trust myself, my experience, and my team to build a brand with a strong mission to provide tools for life beyond sensitive skin. The role of social media A huge role! All my customers/warriors have come from either Instagram or Facebook. It’s an incredible place to share your authentic story (in my case my skin story), for the warrior tribe to connect, and also

to share the journey of the brand and the new products we’ve launched over the past 2 years. Looking to the future I am most excited about creating awareness and providing more HOPE, positivity, and beautiful products for those with sensitive skin. Thankfully due to the power of the internet, my brand has already reached all corners of the globe. Every day is SO exciting! I am looking forward to continuing to share the brand message and extending the product range.

If you never give up, you can never fail. Of course, there are times when you may need to adjust things, however, if you keep your focus on why you have set up your business, what your customers want, and have provided a solution they love, keep going!

TIME FOR REST

(This is a biggie.) It feels almost impossible to switch off but for the longevity of the business and your health you need to prioritize 'me' time.

How to Create

YOUR OWN WHEEL OF LIFE Interview by Fab Giovanetti

I

have never been the biggest fan of New Year resolutions, purely due to the short lifespan they seem to hold.

Research by Strava recently found that in 2020, Sunday 19th January is the day when most people will give up on their resolutions. In another research, HelloFresh discovered 40% of New Year’s Resolutions have already failed by this point, despite our best intentions. There are quite a few ways you can go about planning your new year and setting meaningful intentions, and one of them is known as the Wheel of Life® (or Life Wheel). The original concept of The Wheel of Life is attributed to the late Paul J. Meyer who founded the Success Motivation® Institute in 1960 and created an array of programs and tools for leaders worldwide. Commonly used by life coaches, it highlights each area of your life in turn in order to assess which areas need more attention. It’s a great nifty exercise that also helps you outline your core values as well as understanding how you can create a life that can best lead you to meet your ultimate goals - yes, it’s quite powerful stuff. When it comes to the Life Wheel, you can follow the standard areas you should focus on, however, I’m more of the school of thought of choosing the core areas based on your

54 | CREATIVE IMPACT MAG

personal and professional values. How do you go about finding your values? If you have not done this already, it may be time for you to outline what are the values you stand by on both a professional and a personal level. I love to get a piece of paper and draw a line to create two columns. One column should be for your personal values (family, connection, freedom) and one for your professional values (success, space, flexibility). Once you have outlined the top 5 values for each column, I want you to compare your answers. What is overlapping, and what is clashing? How can you make sure these values work together, instead of working against each other? Once you know what values matter most to you, it’s time to fill your wheel. The idea is to helps you to identify areas that need more attention, so getting clear on the values will help you map out only the areas of your life that truly resonate with you. A few approaches have been used in the past, including the “roles” you fulfill in your life (mother, manager, daughter, etc) or the areas that matter to you the most (family, work, creativity). In my case, I love to use the values I would find from the exercise I mentioned earlier

in the piece since they would represent priorities in my personal and professional life. Examples would be personal (relationships, movement, spiritual wellbeing) and professional (freedom, creativity, connections).

aligned with each value (for example freedom and creativity). It’s time to get honest now: I hate to break it to you, but it’s unlikely you’ll be scoring a 10 in every single area any time soon.

By using a wheel, you get a clear representation of the way your life is currently, as opposed to the way you'd ideally like it to be. The concept can be adapted to the way you want to highlight your focus. Some people love to use numbers (from 1-10 to rate each area) others use a traffic light system instead.

Truly, what you are looking for is to be able to have a balanced spread across the board. Some coaches recommend joining all the marks together from each area to see if they are all in balance. Yet, I believe what is truly important is to take the time to ask yourself: Am I happy with the balance I see across the different areas of my life? Which areas need more attention and focus right now?

Map out your wheel and start adding the areas you want to focus on. You can consider each in turn and rate them based on the amount of attention you're devoting to that area of your life, how much you feel

Write down for each area the one step you can take to make improvements for yourself, and work on them for the next 30 days. I personally run this exercise every 90 days for the members of our collective. You may

56 | CREATIVE IMPACT MAG

want to do this every single month, and that is also fine. Being able to look over and assess what works for you it’s key when it comes to creating a more balanced life overall. The real balance is the one that allows you to fill your life with more than one area. First, you have to decide what you want to fill your wheel with. Truth is, many people are looking to have a very “unbalanced” life. Don’t roll your eye just yet. Hear me out. The real goal of “balance” is to experience happiness on a daily basis. Today my slice of happiness was a long run. Tomorrow it may be work. Rethink was a balanced wheel meant and tailor it to you, in order to truly achieve happiness every day.

How to get started with

A “DONE” LIST Interview by Fab Giovanetti

I

genuinely believe that the idea of productivity is flawed. I call it productivity porn, but you can name it as you wish. The problem is not in the concept itself, but in the idea that to be more productive we should be doing more. What if we focused on doing more of the RIGHT thing, and stop racing against our to-do lists? See, I am a recovering to-do list checker. The more I could get done, the better. I realised I was not the only one, either. In our society, we try to work faster and obsess over speed. Mindset is the true shift we need. What is, instead of obsessing over what we should be doing, we could celebrate what we have done throughout the day? Welcome to the “Done list”. This is not a new concept, yet it’s one that I never tried before. As I was about to tackle my Asana list of to-dos, one day, I looked at my physical planner, and realised I could no constantly go back and forth between the two, so I decided to get creative and use it to write down things I would accomplish and finish out of my to-do list. You see, apps tracking your ‘to-dos’ are slightly flawed, in the way that they do not show you what you have done or accomplished. The finished tasks disappear to make space for the next ones. This way we are constantly chasing our next goal. By this logic, I decided to use my planner to record everything I accomplish throughout the day (especially the ones that I felt I got ‘nothing done’). The results were astonishing.

58 | CREATIVE IMPACT MAG

PRO SECTION

“write out 10 things you've done in the past 3-4 days. In a world that constantly

asks us to do and be more, being able to look back

each day and see what we have accomplished, as

well as celebrating more

of our everyday victories.” Every morning I write down an affirmation, 3 things I am grateful for and quickly look at my plan for the day. I outline which tasks I should prioritise and make sure my plate is not too full based on my current calendar. I then start writing things I get done in my physical planner, one by one. I also write down workouts, morning walks and moments of freedom I want to celebrate. At first, it felt like I was doubling my work, I won’t lie. After a few days, I would clutch my planner in the different areas of the house (yes, sometimes I like to work on the couch, judge me all you want). At the end of the day, being able to see all the things I accomplished made me feel immensely proud of myself. Another interesting realisation was linked to where I would get distracted during my day. By being able to see the small tasks I may get myself into (respond to this person on LinkedIn etc) I started better understanding where I was spending my time. To get started, all you need really is a notepad where you can write down things you have done throughout the day - even if

you do not end up doing it daily, it can become a great way to start reflecting on your time management skills for a specific period of time. It can also be a great motivator for big projects or deadlines, like writing a book. It truly can be that little extra accountability you need to get things done. We can always add “more”, but what about aiming to get more freedom? In order to achieve “Deep Work”, Carl Newport pointed out how we need the freedom to work without distractions and focus on our tasks. In order to do that, I’d argue we need to be more intentional with our time, and it’s a skill a lot of us lost along the way (in the journey of multiple tabs open on our screens). Becoming better investigators can help us with mastering the art of prioritisation. Productivity should be the art of taking out unnecessary tasks, and learn how to fight overcommitment in order to better prioritise. How can you get started with your “Done” list? Take a moment to forget everything you need to do for the rest of the week. You heard me. Relish in your accomplishments and write out 10 things you've done in the past 3-4 days. It can be things as simple as organising your sock drawer, going to bed 15 minutes earlier, or finishing a proposal. Take your list and post it somewhere where you'll see it - on your fridge, on your phone case, on your nightstand, on your forehead when you look in the mirror. In a world that constantly asks us to do and be more, being able to look back each day and see what we have accomplished, as well as celebrating more of our everyday victories.

How to prepare

THE BRAND FOR THE NEW YEAR

A

s the year ends, and we’ve been reading loads of ideas, quotes, suggestions on how to make it YOUR year, right? I am guilty of that too, so don’t you worry, it’s just the way it is. It’s really inspiring to get down to planning (I love planning), however, you won’t see me going crazy over a 5-year plan anymore. I believe in big goals, incremental upgrades, and consistent tracking (what gets measured will increase pretty much seamlessly). Enough of my motivational speeches, let’s dive in 3 practical steps to prepare you for this year!

Interview by Fab Giovanetti

Milestone planning

Where would you like to take your brand next year? According to your stats, what were the most successful pages, Instagram posts or podcast episodes this year? What are the emails with the highest click rate? If you haven’t answered these questions, you totally should. Grab an ol’ piece of paper and jot down the most important dates in your calendar (read a new e-book, your first live event, an e-course you are launching). It’s really important to have these dates handy, in order to work your marketing strategy, guest posts and features accordingly. If you haven’t already, answer the aforementioned questions in order to prepare you for next year.

Cleaning up social media

Blogging and social media are king and queen. They’re the perfect combination of beans and toast (love this one) if used properly. In order to prepare your brand, comb through your social media accounts. Be merciless (and I mean that). Use your analytics to determine which accounts are most productive to your brand then downside. Let’s take Facebook for example: being part of many online masterminds and participate in engagement threads can be the reason behind this. If you’re like me, consider the groups that are most beneficial

60 | CREATIVE IMPACT MAG

and productive and eliminate the others (I remember one time, 2014, I was engaging in about 30 groups). One of the biggest barriers to success is distractions. I also tended to neglect Pinterest – quite a lot – it has been a game-changer in the past two weeks thanks to my own course and another workshop I am working on. If Pinterest is a heavy hitter for you, take a look at the popular pins to see what your readers like. Have a good spring clean through your boards and delete pins that no longer represent your brand and interests. Established clear, concise boards for pinning.

Update your accounts and bios

Your branding, Instagram or website are representations of you. When people come to you, they don’t want to use Google Maps to find the information that they’re looking for. They are coming to get the information and/or services that you provide. Make this easy for them, please. When was the last time that you’ve updated your design? Is your bio up to date on social? When’s the last time you updated your links? When it comes to your website, you are most likely to have on average 10 broken links lying around, I recommend using tools like W3C Checker to spot them. I tend to revamp my website once a month,

PRO SECTION

to be sure all the dates are correct and my bio is not dated 2014.

What’s your word?

Think about the year ahead and ask yourself what one word would best represent your

dreams and direction for 2018. This is a powerful practice because no matter how busy or scattered we may get at various points in our 365-day journey, we’ll always have our word to hold onto and guide us through.

Here are some examples of words to consider (you can also think of them as themes for the year): Freedom, Love, Thrive, Value, Elevate, Fierce, Flow. You’ll find that more and more, of your thoughts, and actions in the new year will flow in harmony with your word.

“It was after years of suffering with stomach issues and finally being diagnosed with IBS that I realised I needed to take ownership of my health and wanted to really start learning more about my body and how I could feel better.” “I’d been prescribed a restrictive diet to try and get my symptoms under control and I

was feeling quite overwhelmed and isolated with it all so one evening I just decided to set-up an Instagram page to try and find others in a similar situation. I started following totally different accounts to those I followed on my personal account; switching from fitness models to people I could relate to, healthcare professionals, chronic illness bloggers and inspiring women who promoted self love and body confidence.” Lottie noticed that the more she read and shared the more she felt like she had found “[here] people” and felt part of a supportive and positive community. “As my confidence grew I started to share more openly about the personal sides of having IBS; the bloating, the anxiety and everything in between and each time I shared, more and more started joining the conversation and I felt an even stronger sense of purpose and belonging. And well, here we are!” That audience on Instagram has grown to over 120,000 followers. Lottie notes that most of her audience are “womxn who either live with a gut health condition and/or are on a journey towards accepting their body.” She uses her platforms to try to empower others to gain a better understanding of their

That a flare-up and bloating is not your fault and does not mean you have failed, you’re not worthy or you’re not beautiful. It’s an illness that we can do our best to manage, but when flare-ups do happen we need to find ways of looking after ourselves and helping our bodies and minds recover.

bodies - whether that be illness related or not - and feel happy and confident in their own skin. As well as having an online presence, Lottie also has a motivation and useful diary. The ‘My Tummy Diary’ is a three-month undated diary designed to help users gain a 360 degree understanding of their wellness and the lifestyle factors that affect their health. It has prompts to help track diet, stress levels, movement, menstrual cycle, water intake and so much more. Lottie told us that ‘the idea behind it is to move us away from obsessing over one area such as food, and to instead look at the bigger picture and understand the smaller adjustments we can make to positively impact our gut, like going to bed earlier, practicing mindfulness etc rather than the drastic measures that aren’t often

“She uses her platforms to try to empower others to gain a better understanding of their bodies - whether that be illness related or not - and feel happy and confident in their own skin.” necessary such as cutting out entire food groups without an allergy or intolerance. The diary has been designed with the help of, and approved by leading dieticians and healthcare professionals and also features an entire resource section full of information and ideas to help you get more in tune with your body.” “The diary was born after my own experience with years of tracking food using problematic apps and restricting my diet which resulted in a very negative and dangerous relationship with food, before realising that there were so many other areas of my health I was unknowingly neglecting. It’s designed to be a safe and happy place that we look forward to using each day, even on the days where we don’t feel our best.” Living and feeling our best is something that Lottie is passionate about in her own life, too. We wonder if she had always felt so comfortable showing her body in front of the camera?

“Oh gosh, no! Five years ago I wouldn’t have shown my bloated belly to my best friends, never mind strangers on the internet. But even without a chronic illness, bloating can be so normal and is something so many of us are affected by yet still struggle with finding ways to feel more comfortable and confident. My bloated wardrobe isn’t about hiding our body but finding ways to feel as good as we possibly can even during a flare-up.” Feeling confident isn’t always easy and it is something that plagues us all. Lottie notes it is something she has worked on over time and something that has grown and bloomed within her. “I’m so proud of myself to finally be able to say I am now confident in my own body. I don’t love every single part of it every single minute and still have moments or days (usually during a bad flare-up) when I need to work harder on it, but the fact I now go 99% of the day without even thinking about how my body looks means I’m in a good place.” We do have to invest “real time and energy” into being body confident but for Lottie, it “has absolutely been a journey but one of the most worthwhile ones I have been on.” “Body image can be hard enough to deal with but when you throw in a chronic illness that impacts your physical appearance it naturally makes it harder. Practising self kindness and all the other tips I share on my platform and in the diary, I’ve eventually managed to get there and it’s been life changing so I just hope I can help others to get to this place too.”

WELLBEING

But how can we actually encourage a better body image day to day? We all have those days that are much harder than others, so how do we pick ourselves up? Lottie comments on a few tools that have helped her in the past that she encourages others to get involved with: • Journaling is magical. Whether that be by using the Tummy Diary or even just a notepad, get those thoughts down onto paper, write some positive affirmations and start processing the emotions and changing any negative habits. • Put aside some time for learning more about your body. Listen to podcasts, read books, book in with a doctor, dietitian or nutritional therapist (who takes a 360 degree approach) and really invest in getting to know what makes your body tick • Get rid of anything that makes you feel rubbish and replace it with something that makes you feel good. Whether that be clothes that don’t fit or feel uncomfortable, social media accounts that trigger native thoughts and toxic relationships. Know your worth and know that positivity really does breed positivity. I think we can all agree that far from being an online space and blog dedicated to the trials and sufferings of IBS, Lottie Drynan draws on her past and present experiences to help and guide others. She hopes to share her story as a beacon of light and hope to encourage better body image, accept and learn how to deal with your own IBS and how to live an abundant life!

FINDING GRACE WITH HANNAH

A better way to set New Year intentions Our columnist Hannah reflects on how to set better intentions for an uncertain 2021

W

ith the year just passed, many people reached the end of 2020 feeling like their goals and intentions that they had set hadn’t been achieved or they certainly turned out differently than they expected. Don’t get me wrong, some people thrived of course. However, because of how unexpected last year was, it changed so much for people, and in some cases, a goal being achieved ended up being further down the list. As we enter into 2021 with uncertainty and still much unknown, this doesn’t mean we shouldn’t set goals or intentions. We just have to look at doing it differently; being more soulful and mindful, and creating the foundations underneath these intentions being laced with resilience. Good foundations are the key to success with anything because it means when something doesn’t always go to plan we are able to adapt and still be ok. The last year highlighted the importance of this. I want to highlight too if you have big things you want to achieve, it's more than possible too; we should never dull our ambitions. However, making sure fluidity and adaptation is at the core of this will aid future success. Here’s the way to get mindful of your intentions: Firstly, laying the foundations begins with the intention of how you can look after yourself in the year ahead. I believe this is the key to success, make it sustainable and doable for you, this will look different for everyone. This will also keep your mental wellness on top, which means the foundations can be strong

when you may need to adapt or something doesn’t go to plan. Get clear on this.

2

Get clear on what you really want, not what you think you should be doing, that's one thing this last year taught us. There’s no room for things that aren’t in alignment for us because when it gets tough it's more likely to fall apart when things aren’t in alignment. So ask what's in your soul and what feels truly good?

3

Make an intentional soulful plan for potential pitfalls, now I’m not telling you to look for trouble here. I’m all for taking leaps sometimes when we don’t always know where it's heading. However, having good foundations and things in place means your “Making sure fluidity and goals and intentions adaptation is at the core have a good place to of [your ambitions] will grow and come alive and be able to adapt. aid future success”

4

Get a support accountability buddy, one who’s in soulful alignment with you. This will greatly aid you in your process of achieving the things you want to do. One who also is able to call you out if they see you burning out. 2020 taught us how invaluable support is. Remember to get soulful, choose alignment, and feel good. This sets the scene so you know what's most important. Choose this above all and this will serve you greatly - it will aid with greater success in achieving what you want no matter how small. @thehannahwallace

THIS IS WELLBEING Photographer Ellie Jade promoted more diversity and inclusion in the health, wellbeing and fitness industries

Interview by Amy Lanza

G

iving a voice and space to those who don’t always have a voice or the space to shine is something that Ellie Jade, a Psychology graduate, and mental health advocate is passionate about doing. As a talented photographer and a life and wellbeing coach, Ellie put her talents to good use by her recent “This Is Wellbeing” campaign which won her the Creative Impact Award for best Campaign 2020. “I am so pleased the campaign has been recognised in this way and hopefully highlighted some of the problems in the health and wellbeing industry.” The campaign is something that Ellie put together throughout 2019 and launched in

72 | CREATIVE IMPACT MAG

January 2020, and is a ‘photography campaign series’ called ‘This is Wellbeing’. “The campaign combines photographs I took of underrepresented professionals and enthusiasts in the health, fitness and wellbeing sector (doctors, yoga teachers, coaches, athletes, therapists, activists) with some of their thoughts, experiences, and hopes for the industry - both in general and specifically with regards to the major lack of diversity and accessibility.” Ultimately, the aim was to highlight how much of an issue [underrepresentation] is in our industry (specifically to make those of us who are not marginalised more aware and accountable) and to begin changing the

visual messaging around health, fitness, and wellbeing to one that is not exclusively one demographic. It also wanted to show that it shouldn’t only be those who feel underrepresented themselves that discuss these issues and take action to change them (even if that means making mistakes along the way). The name ‘This is Wellbeing’ is intended to have an emphasis on the ‘this’, in an attempt to dismantle what we have been conditioned to believe the image of health and wellbeing to be. It goes without saying that every campaign, virtual or in real life, is not without its own road bumps or obstacles and Ellie took a lot out of the

“U L T IMATELY, THE A IM WA S T O HIG HLI GHT HO W M U C H OF A N IS S UE [UND ERREP R E S E NT A T I O N] IS IN OUR I NDUSTR Y ” process, learning, growing, and honing her skills. “One of the main challenges was ensuring the people I worked with on the campaign could trust me and feel comfortable being photographed by me. I appreciate this could have felt quite vulnerable and it was really important to me to make sure the overall experience was a positive one for those involved.”

Fortunately, Ellie Jade admits that the process of putting the campaign together was actually a lot smoother than originally expected. People were really open-minded about the idea and it all came together pretty quickly. Bringing together so many different people from different parts of the world also saw a few logistical problems of organising times and locations to photograph each person.

The campaign had people from different parts of the UK and two people from America (Dianne Bondy and Wesley Hamilton) in the campaign, so working around everyone’s schedules was tricky. Working on our own internalised biases is something that we can all work towards: “In the health and wellbeing industry there is a very specific stereotype of what it looks like to be ‘healthy and fit’ (white, slim, young, able-bodied, cisgender…), despite none of these necessarily being a marker for health or fitness! I knew from the start I wanted to use my photography in the campaign to change this visual message. That’s actually where the idea stemmed from.”

ELLIE'S TIPS ON CHAMPIONING CHANGE

“M Y N UMBER ON E TIP I S TO BE C OMP ASSI O NATE A ND INTERE STE D IN P EOPLE”

01

Discomfort is necessary if you want to address important and complex topics in your work (especially if you come at them from a position of privilege, because you will likely have less awareness around them).

The power of imagery is something that Ellie has mastered throughout her budding career and she credits being “open to photographing people for free in the beginning if they can offer you something valuable in return.” “When I first started photographing health and wellbeing professionals I reached out to several influential people in the industry and offered to photograph them for free in return for photo crediting and referrals. Despite not paying me financially, they helped me grow my network and show my work to a wider audience of people which is what quickly led to paid work.” “My number one tip is to be compassionate and interested in people. Being photographed can feel quite vulnerable, especially if you’re not a model, so being someone that people feel comfortable around and can relate to is crucial!” However, images alone can only do so much. They can lack meaning and depth in certain circumstances and after speaking with all those who collaborated with Ellie Jade, they decided it would be great to share some of their thoughts and experiences and showcase their work alongside the imagery to give a more personal side to it. This combination of powerful imagery and personal story-telling is partly what makes the This Is Wellbeing campaign such a

Some people will reject your offer of collaborating on a project and that is ok, but it shouldn’t stop you from asking in the first place. success. Ellie continues to have great aspirations for the campaign to hopes it “will make anyone that is in the health, fitness and wellbeing world (whether a business owner, influencer or consumer) think about the part they play in the diversity and accessibility of the industry and what action they can take to have a positive impact on that.” She hopes to “open a dialogue about the issues in the industry at the moment and how we might begin to tackle them and to enable a “range of people to see themselves represented in an industry they have perhaps always felt excluded from.” But just how can we keep ourselves accountable in making life more accessible to all and keep the dialogue open? Ellie believes that if you are someone that feels welcome and represented in the industry these things could be beneficial: 1. Check-in with yourself regularly and acknowledge your implicit biases when they arise. 2. Notice the diversity and accessibility in the spaces you are regularly in. Does everyone look like you? If so, what could you do to help change this? 3. Discuss these topics with your friends and family and agree to challenge each other if you notice something which could be problematic.

03

People you might not expect to respond to you or accept your offer of collaborating often do! All you have to do is ask.

04

Businesses need to really take the time to consider how they can welcome everyone into their community by considering everything, from their employees and products to their imagery and language used.

05

That [she] still has a lot of her own internalised biases and conditioning to dismantle, but awareness and acknowledgment of them are key.

TOP FOODS TO SUPPORT EACH PHASE OF THE MENSTRUAL CYCLE

W

hat you eat during each phase of your menstrual cycle can have a powerful effect on how you feel, physically, mentally, and emotionally. I know it’s become a bit of a cliché to say that food is medicinal to the

body, but it really can be! When it comes to menstrual health, food can also help reduce and manage some of the symptoms that you might be feeling during each phase. I’ll break down the best foods for each

phase in this article, but it’s also worth stating that adding that these foods are helpful throughout the menstrual cycle, because everything we eat and do in the 60-90 days before the current menstrual cycle will have an impact.

PHASE 1 Menstruation Most of us associate our periods with a time of misery, exhaustion, and moodiness, but it doesn’t have to be that way (really!). It’s natural to have a bit less energy and to feel a few aches and twinges at this time. We can use food as a way of boosting our energy levels, improving our moods, and reducing pain and cramps. Iron plays an important role in energy production, oxygen transport, and blood rebuilding, which is important during menstruation as we can lose anywhere between 50-150mL of blood. Eating ironrich foods helps the body generate new blood and replace what has been lost during menstruation.

There are two types of iron that comes from food: heme and non-heme iron. Heme iron, which typically comes from animal products such as grass-fed beef, ox, and lamb, is easier for the body to absorb and then re-use. Non-heme iron, which comes from plant-based sources, can be used by the body, but here’s the thing: you need to eat a lot more of it and pair it with vitamins C to increase absorption. Chickpeas, lentils, quinoa, kidney beans, and kale are lovely plant-based sources of iron, so squeeze lemon over your quinoa salad or add berries into your kale smoothie!

PHASE 2 Follicular During the follicular phase, we might feel as though we’re emerging back into the world, with lots of energy and a more positive frame of mind. Our oestrogen levels begin to increase again and our pituitary gland releases follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) to prepare one of the ovaries to start maturing the follicles that will eventually turn into a mature egg. Rising oestrogen thickens the lining of our uterus and in the last few days of the follicular phase, rising testosterone gives you a glowy look, a higher libido, more energy, strength, and motivation.

Fibre is always an important part of a healthy diet, but it becomes even more important during the follicular phase because it helps us poop regularly! Yep, we’re talking about poop! Pooping every day is important because this is how our body gets rid of the hormones that our body has used and our liver has broken down. Constipation means that these hormones can get recycled back into the body and this can contribute to PMS and other period problems. Get your fibre through eating at least 7 portions of vegetables and a few pieces of fruit each day.

CREATIVE IMPACT MAG | 77

PHASE 3 Ovulation During ovulation, we’re at the peak of our menstrual cycle. We are at our brightest, most energetic, feeling sexy and beautiful, with lots of motivation to get things done! In this phase, our oestrogen peaks, with luteinising hormone (LH) triggering ovulation. This means that one of your ovaries releases a mature egg and your progesterone levels start to rise too as your body hopes to fertilise an egg this

cycle. Ovulation tends to happen roughly 2 weeks before we menstruate. If we don’t fertilise an egg this cycle, we move into autumn, otherwise known as the luteal phase. Zinc is important for supporting healthy ovulation and progesterone production. Grass-fed, organic red meat is a great source of zinc but if eating meat isn’t your thing, you can get zinc from pumpkin, sunflower and sesame seeds, egg yolks, ginger, seafood (oysters!), and organic dairy.

PHASE 4 Luteal This part of the menstrual cycle can be split into two parts. During the early l uteal phase, we’re still feeling good. Progesterone is at its peak and oestrogen is also still high, so we’re calm and loving life. In the second half of the luteal phase, if we haven’t fertilised an egg, oestrogen and progesterone levels begin to drop. This is when many of us start to experience PMS symptoms like mood swings, sore breasts, acne, headaches,

bloating, anxiety, and weariness. Vitamin B6 supports healthy progesterone levels, which can help if you suffer from mood swings right before your period. You can get vitamin B6 from a wide variety of foods including organic red meat, carrots, sweet potato, lentils, oats, wild salmon, and walnuts.

against plastic straws and bags. “It opened my eyes to the climate crisis and since I’ve learnt about and adopted a lot more sustainable and ethical principles. Mainly in areas such as my diet and wardrobe.”

Her passion has seen her grow her online social media presence and also win the Creative Impact Best Sustainability Creative 2020. We cannot talk about creatives without mentioning social media, something that Jess believes is “an amazing tool, especially with reaching younger people”.

“For me, it’s all about creating a community where we can get tips, advice, and lean on each other when eco-anxiety or guilt takes over. I think that Instagram especially is fab for getting the eco-message out there.”

And getting her eco-message out there is something Jess does with ease through her top tips and round-up posts. She admits they take a lot of time, “but every positive comment or message saying that someone has learnt something or made a lifestyle change due to the post makes it worth it!”

eco-friendly and making better decisions. To start with 3 things we could all do today to help live more sustainably, Jess recommends “have a couple of meat-free days a week and (if safe to do so) use public transport more often.” But she is also not seeing the world through rose-tinted glasses, she appreciates there are huge roadblocks in society, especially regarding ethical fashion and low-impact living in general. Time, or lack of it, is certainly an issue for a lot of people. “Not a lot of people have the option to research certain areas or brands, and with things like zero-waste shopping it’s not always feasible to go to 3 or 4 different shops to get what you need; people have to work and look after kids, etc.” And when it comes to ethical fashion, cost and size accessibility are often the biggest barriers, which Jess hopes will change soon. Alongside her social media presence to talk about such issues, Jess also has a podcast

A day in the life of Healthy Twist Written by by Sarah and Claire

H

ello, it's Claire and Sarah here, from Healthy Twists. The Creative Impact team has asked us to share what it’s like being us, well not entirely that but more specifically what happens on a Healthy Twists day.

Currently, we can only dream of what used to be a Healthy Twists day – think Miranda meets the Vicar of Dibley in a kitchen – however enough of the moping about what pre-Covid days were like and let us talk about how we’ve adjusted, adopted new routines and realised that we can still create tasty dishes to share with our amazing community. So, on a typical day, we get up to soak porridge - with a scrumptious flavour combination (we are addicts, but if we’re in a hurry or hungry it’s a smoothie or a bowl of granola) and chase the kids around the house until it’s time to get them to school. We then try to meet most days for a dog walk straight after drop-off – call it a morning meeting on the move. This gives us a chance to breathe and hug a few trees. This varies though depending on lockdown rules or whether we have one of the children or us self-isolating. Then if it’s a recipe development day for a client, we’ll have checked the brief, ordered the ingredients, tried it out on the family, and have a rough idea of photography style. We shoot with natural light so that can dictate the mood of the image and location of product packaging. like a lot of us, our client work took a nosedive in April 2020 and is taking its time to rebuild. But it’s not all woe – not at all, we’ve thrown ourselves into a secret project (shhh we shouldn’t have told you that and don’t you hate it when people do that?!), we have taken courses

in SEO and website know-how, photography and styling – we love to learn. We’ve realised that our website Healthy Twists is at our core - the sort of kitchen to our social media shop window, we’ve enjoyed getting stuck back into blogging – remind us why we haven’t done more? Developing recipes just for our community, oh and learning how to make reels for IG. When it comes to recipes I’m (Claire) the creative chaos and Sarah is the practical realist, so I’ll often say (whilst jumping up and down with my hand in the air) "let's do this, let’s make it, create it, write it now!" Sarah would look at me and say "yes that’s great but we need to post this and program in this, and you know, check that list we wrote". It’s what we need as we are a team, and it works for us. Yes, we get frustrated when we’ve not achieved everything in a week that we’d hoped, but 2020 hasn't been the kindest to the best-laid planners. When working apart, Sarah is the recipe hunter, prepper – keeping Claire on track – then Claire makes the final recipe, shooting the images, and keeping social media ticking. Every day between us we must have 78 phone calls, 8 FaceTime conversations with a combination of the following: "does this look right? Has it risen enough? did I put too much bicarb in, does it need bicarb at all? Man I wish you could taste this” usually with a response from Sarah of “that’s not fair – save me some!” This is what a Healthy Twists day truly looks like. All in all, we’ve muddled through, decided on our direction for 2021, and are looking forward to being back together in the Healthy Twists kitchen. Let’s face it: doing stupid dancing in the kitchen is far more fun when there are 2 people joining in. Find out more at healthy-twists.com here
