Exhibiting at an institution inside of Columbus proper reminded CAW’s ardent, local supporters of the strength of CAW’s multifaceted artistic output. A few short months later, CAW finished the artistic conversation started in Columbus with their first ever exhibition outside of the city. OUTSIDE was on view at the Schnormeier Gallery in Mount Vernon, Ohio. This exhibition consisted of partner works that reveal the exterior of the theme each artist began in their work for INSIDE at the Cultural Arts Center. Each exhibition featured the same set of exhibiting artists, assuring continuity between the paired works that were exhibited in the two cities. Each artist wrestled with the themes of INSIDE/OUTSIDE through their own lens. INSIDE (at the Cultural Arts Center) was an exhibition that reflected upon the multiple meanings of interior spaces – whether architectural, anatomical, or metaphysical. OUTSIDE (at the Schnormeier Gallery) explored the external forces and exterior surfaces that make up our world.
