The U.S. Civilian Research & Development Foundation (CRDF) is a nonprofit organization authorized by the U.S. Congress and established in 1995 by the National Science Foundation to promote international scientific and technical collaboration through grants, technical resources and training. What we do CRDF designs and manages international research funding programs and supports emerging science and technology infrastructure in over thirty countries. CRDF specializes in bringing isolated scientific communities into the global scientific mainstream.

• Nearly 3,000 grants engaging over 13,000 scientists—including 2,500 former weapons researchers—representing more than $105 million in total support. • Over 50 equipment and education centers established in eight countries. • Over 500 scientists and students trained in various scientific professional skills • Over $42 million leveraged in contributions from foreign governments and U.S. industry. • More than 1,100 individual projects, valued at over $195 million, facilitated on behalf of over 180 clients.
