A huge amount of regeneration is taking place under the banner of Northampton Alive and more is planned. Work includes the remodelling of Northampton Castle Railway Station, creation of the new North Gate Bus Station and a raft of commercial developments.

Northampton Castle Railway Station

The new £20m Northampton Castle Railway Station, opening summer 2014 - thanks to funding from Central Government, Northamptonshire County Council and V[OLY WHY[ULYZ VɈLYZ PTWYV]LK MHJPSP[PLZ and greater capacity. Later phases will WYV]PKL T\JO ULLKLK VɉJL ZWHJL

University of Northampton Innovation Centre

The University of Northampton Innovation Centre will provide cutting-edge accommodation and support services for 55 small businesses. 00

00 :P_ÄLSKZ :[HKP\T Northampton Town Football Club will increase its ground capacity to 10,000 with a new East Stand - plus conference centre, housing and local retail - after Northampton Borough Council agreed a £12m loan for the project.

Franklin’s Gardens

Northampton Saints Rugby Club will boost ground capacity to 15,500 with a new North Stand after Northampton Borough Council agreed a £5m loan for the project. This will enable the club to host international matches, putting it in the global spotlight and boosting the local economy.

7YLZ[PNL ZOVL ÄYT *O\YJO *V is expanding its manufacturing operation after we helped secure land adjacent to its current home in St James, a move which will create 150 jobs and support the company’s worldwide store expansion.

Cosworth

Performance engineering company Cosworth has announced a £30 million expansion within the Northampton Waterside Enterprise Zone, creating 50 jobs and hundreds more in its supply chain. The business hopes a centre of excellence to help bring new technologies into the domestic car market.

North Gate Bus Station

The new North Gate Bus Station, a joint project between Northampton Borough Council and Northamptonshire County Council, has created a brighter welcome for visitors with modern facilities throughout, bringing shoppers to the heart of the town centre.

Grosvenor/Greyfriars

Legal & General is carrying out a £3m facelift of the Grosvenor Centre, scheduled for completion at the end of 2014, improving it’s appeal for shoppers. The old Greyfriars bus station is being demolished ready for further retail development and associated uses.

Market Square

Our revamp of Market Square has created a new focal point for Northampton, with cutting-edge lighting, a fountain and an events and performance space.

Heritage Gateway

There are long-term proposals to develop Marefair as a historic gateway to the town centre, celebrating the town’s rich heritage, including it’s castle and St Peter’s Church which both have great ZPNUPÄJHUJL

Town centre redevelopment

More free parking, free Wi-Fi access and environmental improvements are just some of the measures we have agreed as part of a strategy to help revitalise Northampton town centre. Improvements also include the reopening of the middle section VM (IPUN[VU :[YLL[ [V [YHɉJ I\ZPULZZ rates relief and a new incentive scheme.

St Peter’s Waterside

Albion Place Hotel

A new Premier Inn hotel at Albion Place will create jobs and support the ÅV\YPZOPUN *\S[\YHS 8\HY[LY ^OPJO OHZ been created in the area.

Errol Flynn Filmhouse

The Errol Flynn Filmhouse opened its doors in summer 2013. The 90-seat, Z[H[L VM [OL HY[ ]LU\L VɈLYZ S\_\YPV\Z surroundings adjacent to The Royal & Derngate Theatres.

00 *\S[\YHS 8\HY[LY We have created a Cultural 8\HY[LY PU [OL HYLH HYV\UK .\PSKOHSS Road and Derngate, recognising the sector’s importance to the local economy. Partners include The Royal & Derngate Theatres, NN Northampton Arts Collective, 78 Derngate, Creative Northants, Northamptonshire County Council, The University of Northampton and Arts Council England.

Phipps Albion Brewery

Beer brewer, Phipps NBC, has moved back to Northampton after renovating one of the company’s former homes – the Albion brewery in Kingswell Street – creating 20 new jobs in the process.

Becket’s Park Marina

The new 80-berth marina, formerly a disused boating lake, signals the renaissance of Northampton’s waterside.

University campus

The University of Northampton has secured a landmark deal allowing it to consolidate two existing campuses onto a new £330m site, a short distance from the town centre and student accommodation at St John’s.

Carlsberg’s new £20m bottling plant at the heart VM 5VY[OHTW[VU OHZ JYLH[LK UL^ QVIZ ;OL ÄYT has also invested £40m upgrading existing facilities, making the town its new centre of operations.

Delapre Abbey

Restoration of this 900 year-old historical site has been made possible by funding from Northampton Borough Council, the Heritage Lottery Fund and English Heritage. It is the council’s top heritage priority and will provide a visitor centre, tours and exhibitions, plus space for functions such as conferences and weddings.

Ransome Road

This project will see former industrial land to the south of the university development brought back into use for the creation of 800 high-quality homes.

Skatepark at Radlands Plaza

Radlands Plaza skatepark opened in July 2012 and further facilities including a refreshment kiosk and toilets were added in summer 2013.
