In Campo’s Next day, director Philippe Quesne catapults us into another world, where ordinary everyday actions take place as extreme situations. Twelve kids, between 10 – 13 years old, are the object of a human microcosm with uncertain boundaries, mixing dream and reality, music and languages, loneliness and the group. Twelve small individuals, all to a certain degree dancers, artists and musicians, form a bizarre community. Are they abandoned and lost?

Only the most supreme efforts are valued, and yet one must smile, think positively and prove that everything is under control. Open office environments with lots of windows, fresh gourmet coffee, chill-out zones, unlimited vacation and twinkling bosses, contrast the underlying tension of surveillance, insecurity, exposure, discipline, subtle punishment and demand for innovation.

The group was awarded Best Performance in Körber Studio Regie 15 at Thalia Theater Hamburg.

The Letter is one of the most internationally touring Danish performances. Since 1992 it has ran for more than 1000 performances all over the world. The international press has referred to The Letter as a cult and a classic. Alone on stage, Paolo Nani brings 15 stories to life with the use of props that can be held in one suitcase. All of them based on the same theme, but played in 15 different versions. The same story forwards, backwards, with surprises, vulgar, drunk, as a western, as a silent movie, as a horror, as a circus… They have only two things in common – not a word is spoken and the result is hilarious.

It is an Interdisciplinary Performance Ritual where the audience gets in contact with ANIMA. Executing the ongoing procedure of healing, ANIMA juxtaposes the body to express pure spiritual impulse detached from linear constitution.

The company Tantra Clap facilitates spaces where themes like sexuality, separation and savagery are expressed in rituals.

Mungo Park’s latest show is about unaccompanied refugees arriving in Denmark. It is also about Danes helping refugees unaccompanied by a legal system. And About people making tough decisions unaccompanied by a God or a political conviction.

The play is written and directed by Kamilla Wargo Brekling who previously created the award win­ ning show Woman know your body for Mungo Park. Research for the show is led by Khaterah Parwani who has worked with refugees in Denmark through the past 15 years.

Exodus is based on Liebmann and Schmidt’s meeting with nine Nigerians, who have come to Europe in a pursuit of a better life. Based on real encounters, stories and songs exchanged between travellers from North and South, the performance creates a fiction that reaches far beyond documentary.

Inspired by medieval tradition, the tale is sung to the melody of the Danish ballad ”Kongebørnene” and refers to ”A valley on the other side of the mountains” – a place so far away that the audience has to trust what they are told.

Kim Brandstrup’s ballet begins here: the theatre’s stage is the large mirror in which we seek to recreate the world in our own image. The title poem in Thomsen’s poetry collection Shaken Mirror lets us sense in a glimpse the limits to language – the poem seeks to capture a glance but the image is shaken. There are some things that language cannot catch – some things that cannot be uttered.

THE MUSEUM OF MARTYRS Sort/Hvid (DK) The first martyr museum in the North will now be inaugurated in a former slaughtering hall in Copenhagen’s Meatpacking District. The exhibition will explore why some people are ready to die for what they believe in.

The Swedish director and performer Charlotte Engelkes and the Swedish actor and singer Lindy Larsson have combined their forces to stage a theatre concert inspired by Frida Kahlo’s paintings. Based on the Mexican artist’s iconic self-portraits and more abstract pictures Engelkes and Larsson recount the story about Kahlo’s life through songs and text.

The duo have a six man band with them on stage, who will provide an unrestrained cabaret-atmosphere with cello, violin and harmonica amongst other instruments.

Experience Claes Bang in the well-received monologue EVIL – Jan Guillous’ personal and shocking story about the horrible abuses he was exposed to as a child and a young man. The monologue focuses on evil anatomy – do you grow up to be evil by being treated evilly? Can you defy daily punishment and humiliation while maintaining your goodness? Can you fight a superior authority without giving in to their unjust means? Can violence be used as revenge and be justified?

The book was released in 1981, and later dramatized and filmed. It is based on Guillous’ experiences as a victim of his father’s violence and the brutal comrade upbringing system at the Solbacka boarding school.

Through this she comes to realize her innate love of her own being allowing her to choose light over darkness. This choice allows her to speak out her story and rise from a life trauma into a move towards freedom.

The story chronicles the journey of a little girl, joyful in the wonders of Nature, but who at the age of 4-7 is betrayed by neglect and the horrors of sexual abuse by a family member. As the abuse is kept secret, the crime is followed by self-abuse throughout her teenage years and early adult sexual life.

With STEREO, recoil performance group adds a new dimension to their pioneering video scenographies. Thus, the space around the dancers’ bodies collapses and expands indefinitely; it curls up or slips off the stage tempting the audience to reach out.

Behind closed curtains a trans woman protects herself. Time has come to a standstill. The past shows itself in dream images and surreal visions.

Just below the fragile and porous surface lurks madness, damnation and redemption. In a series of performative musical tableaux the internal drama is staged where the protagonist plays out inner characters in various melodramatic roles. The performance is about isolation and self representation and revolves around the concepts of loss and salvation. Trans Salvation is a musical drama based on Ramona Macho’s poetic texts and visual universe directed by Christoffer Berdal to newly composed music by Peter Peter / Kyed and musical director Nicolai Korne.

Hip-hop cannot be easily categorize, as it is in the very DNA of dance to be composed of different styles. Since its birth in the 1970s in the United States, has hip-hop been an ’umbrella concept’ for various other styles like funk, jazz-funk and popping among others. page 20

Dance Vibes is a kaleidoscopic look into the choreographic workshop, where four short works are created for Danish Dance Theatre’s dancers by four completely different choreographers. An evening where contemporary dance explores, challenges and searches for new territories of movement.

Uppercut Dance Theatre’s artistic leader Stephanie Thomasen has created ”Limbo” a dance performance about being trapped between heaven and hell. Alessandro S. Pereira shows the choreography ”Instant”, while the American choreographer Stephen Shropshire comes with ”Bone Idle” – his study on choice and determination. Last but not least the Bosnian-born choreographer Edhem Jesenkovic will present ’Tabu’, a performance about religion, faith and sexuality.

In Between Concrete is an exploration of the meeting between body and material. It’s an insisting on what lies between the layers, beyond the obvious. Four wrapped up bodies and their restricted movement through space create a constant interchange between geometrical symmetry and chaos. In Between Concrete is an invitation into a meditative pocket of time, where images in motion continuously appear and dissolve.

Creator of Egon the Cycling Mosquito, Flemming Quist Møller is the narrator in a fascinating story that combines traditional Danish storytelling with electric boogie, capoeira, contemporary circus and insane moves! The beloved mosquito charms with a contagious drive, catchy tunes and insect magic.

The play is the tell-all ”socio-historio-literary-­ pornographic testimony” of four sexually liberated women, that meet at the funeral of a man, whom they all have had a special connection with. Over the course of their oral (and anal, and vaginal) narrative, they reminisce on their many sexual encounters, a list of lifelong sexual exploits, while also ridiculing the hypocrisy of American euphemisms, French intellectual eggheadedness, and the ways the Catholic Church has gotten Christianity wrong. They are irreverent, self-assured to the point of self-obsession, unreliable, seductive, witty as a whip and probably good with one too.

The Visible Effects of Force is a charged solo about force. It explores what remains in the body after the impact of movement – the traces, the effects.

The impacts of forces are inevitable and constant. Everybody is set in motion, everything is affected. However at the same time, the force itself is never visible. It is the signs, traces and remains of it, that produce visible marks, from which we draw conclusions and imagine the force behind it.

NAGHOL rediscovers the importance of rituals and plays with their qualities. NAGHOL is the name of a recurring ritual in the Pacific island of Pentecost. A manhood test, which consists of a bungee jump ritual from 30 feet with vines tied around the ankles. The inspiration for NAGHOL is found in everything from prayer and funerals to weddings, shamanism, trances, circumcision and the fascination with the fact that while we, in the North, hide chocolate rabbits at Easter, the natives on the Philippine island of Marinduque whip themselves with broken glass.

Knudsen/Bøen Collective (DK) The performance group Knudsen/Bøen Collective triggers memories through sound, smell and the moving body. Then the triggered memories are being transposed into aesthetic material.

Dancers nowadays don’t fall like dancers fell 70 years ago. If a fall is a consequence of the former, could there be a correlation between the fall and the historical time the dancer falls into?

Movements are transferred, interpreted and transformed from person to person; dancer to dancer; generation to generation – the dancer’s body is an archive over movement patterns of its own time. With an anthropological gaze, the performance lecture My Body is Every Body suggests history as a collective, somatic development. Fundamental movement vocabularies within the historical modern dance are processed and analysed, with the ambition to access a kinaesthetic reading of history.
