1913-1914 My One Boy 3120, owned by Allynhurst Farm, is National Show Champion Bull in consecutive years.

1915

Premier Breeder & Exhibitor Award started at the National Show. Wisconsin Premier Breeder winners have been Voegeli Farm, their first was in 1936, Norvic Farm, Lake Mills, Red Brae Farm, Eagle, Random Luck Farm, Darlington. Premier Exhibitors have been Allynhurst Farm, Delevan, Voegeli Farm, Monticello, Norvic Farm, Lake Mills, Meythaler- Cold Springs, Monroe, Red Brae, Eagle.

1916

Merney’s 2nd Son 3280. As the name implies from Merney 2859 owned by H.W. Ayres, is National Show Champion Bull.

1916 Fluid milk price $1.68 ($/cwt)

1916 A meeting is held at Ag. Hall UW Madison, to organize and form the Wisconsin State Brown Swiss Association.

1919 First WI State picnic at Meadow Green Farm, Nic Schmid, Monroe.

1920 Emil J. Jensen, herdsman at Sedgeley Farm, Hillsdale, IL purchased 5 head in the Sedgeley Dispersal , March 18, 1920. The entire herd, with the exception of the 30 head quarantined at the National Dairy Show were slaughtered in 1914. The herd had been diagnosed with foot and mouth disease. They were shot, cut open and buried at the farm. The 30 head returned to the Barton’s farm June 19, 1915 to start the second herd. With the rights to the Sedgeley prefix, Jensen returns to the home farm in Menomonie from Hillsdale, IL. Jensen’s son-in-law, Paul Bjork and later Paul’s son Larry continued the farm.

July, 1922 Volume 1, Number 1, Brown Swiss Bulletin published. There were 22 pages with no ads. The First WI breeders to advertise in the September 1922 issue of the Bulletin were Emil J. Jenson, Sedgely Farm, Menomonie and partners B.H. Hibbard and E.R. Stoneman, Madison. July 2115 Bulletin has 32 pages.

October 12, 1922 National Meeting held in St. Paul, MN in conjunction with Sixteenth Annual Dairy Exposition. 845 purebred cattle of the 5 breeds are on display, 120 were Brown Swiss. J.P. Allyn, Delavan, veteran judge discusses efforts to establish an ideal type which breeders might aim. The Governors of WI, John J. Blaine and MN, J.A.O. Preus, each gave talks. Imagine that!

November 1922 Central Wisconsin Brown Swiss Breeders Association hold annual meeting in Wausau. A.F. Joswiak extends an invitation for a June picnic at his farm near Edgar.

May, 1923 Spring Valley Myrtle 8189 completes 8y 365d 16,987.0m 711.49f to become the high producing Brown Swiss cow in Badgerland. She was owned by Spring Valley Farm, John Ingold & Son, Monroe. Their herd dates to 1893. The Ingold’s set many top production records in their day. Their herd won the National Ira Inman Herd Test Trophy started in 1947 seven times. They also produced seed stock for many herds like Judd’s Bridge Farm. The David and Donna Brown Family now milk their herd and live on the land that once was the Ingold Farm.

May 1, 1924 West Salem - First Combination Auction in Mid-West held. 58 head sell for an average of $160. 39 stayed in WI, - 10 to IA, - 7 to MN, - 2 to IL. L.E. Pennewell, Brooklyn, was the auctioneer.

1925

N.C. Schmid, Meadow Green Farm, Monroe, has National Show Champion cow with Cinnamon’s Maiden 12764. Bred by Bert R. Stickland, Footville. She was sold to Walhalla Farm in 1928. Her granddaughter, Cinnamon Lassie of Walhalla, was National Champion in 1939 at the Cow Palace for Judd’s Bridge Farm, CT. Her son, Maiden’s Vronicka Collage Boy, was Grand Champion at the National Dairy Show in 1927 and 1928. Kilravock Snow Storm (5E All American, National Total Performance winner) is a direct maternal line decedent of Cinnamon’s Maiden.

1925 Frank Stefl, Clintonville reports taking home $2,300 in prize money won at county fairs in 1924.

1926 Junes College Girl 11427 is National Fat Production Champion. 5y 365 4x 24,572 4.3 1,062 for C.F. Osborne, IA. Bred by Jacob Voegeli, Monticello. She was Grand Champion National in 1927. She sells in the Dr. C. F. Osborne Dispersal on April 19, 1928 to Walhalla Farm, NY for $3250.00. A stable mate, Silver Belle 9322 Champion 1928 National Show, bred by John Cooper, Clinton, WI, brings $5400.00, also to Walhalla. Her price converts to $72,000.00 in 2015. Walhalla Farm, Middleburg, NY, started in 1900 by Mr. Frank Freemyer. J. Frank Zoller, Rexford, NY, an Exec., at General Electric purchased the herd in 1925. He served as Tax Attorney and Assistant Secretary. Mr. Zoller passed Sept. 3, 1932 from injuries sustain when the bull, Imported Jack of Walhalla #2530, turned on him. His wife maintained the farm until the Walhalla Dispersal in 1962. 140 head average $422. Buyers include Meythaler-Cold Springs, Monroe. Seven head went to new breeder Lynvale Farm owned by Peter Vail, Millerton, NY. 4 1913 - 1926
