What is the KS4 Cowes Charter?
Our Key Stage 4 Charter is a continuation of our guarantee to you as a Cowes Enterprise College student.
Participation is an integral and compulsory part of being a successful student at Cowes Enterprise College. The Charter is designed to provide a continuous and refined set of experiences and skills to allow for a smooth transition from Key Stage 3 and progress into our 6th form or onto further education and training.
You will be responsible for tracking and recording your progress through the Charter and will be supported by your form tutor in doing so. Your involvement and commitment
Access one-to-one progression meetings with senior teachers, to discuss your progress, future plans and how to fulfill your potential
Attend a Year 11 information evening, with your parents, to ensure the demands and expectations are fully understood
Attend Year 11 Parents’ Evenings to share key information from your teachers, so that you are fully supported throughout your courses
Take part in Year 11 mock examinations to give you the confidence and experience to perform well in your final GCSE examinations. This will also give accurate and reliable information about your progress and how you can be best supported
Access to co-ordinated interventions that will provide further pastoral support and co-ordinate interventions designed to promote wellbeing and academic progress
Develop literacy skills through our in-house reading programme, making effective use of tutor time
Borrow a book from the library to read
Take part in challenging, appropriate lessons and a wellsequenced Year 11 curriculum
Reflect on use of revision booklet for Year 11 mocks
All students will have an entitlement beyond the GCSE option process to include IT, SRS, PE and E1M
Access high-quality pastoral support, working closely with students, families and teachers to protect wellbeing and academic progress
Participate in specific personalised Year 11intervention, where needed - bespoke intervention packages will be available to all students to support individual needs
Prepare for a trip (conduct)
Every student will have the opportunity to experience a theatre/cinema trip to watch a performance of a key GCSE text in Year 11
Every student will have the opportunity to experience a guest speaker on the subject of study skills and/or personal development
Participate in Year 11 age-related enrichment clubs, provising opportunities to extend your understanding and develop a specialism, in areas of particular interest
Participate in high-quality careers support and advice sessions
Attend a Year 11 bespoke careers interview
Have a sixth form student visit my tutor group
I have a CV ready to support my future applications
Plan for a smooth transition to post-16 education or training
Attend a sixth form information assembly to be able to gain further information, advice and guidance on my future plans
Learn about university life
